Achieve Trophies | August 2012 Thread | Hakooma Matata

Platinum'd Fallout: New Vegas last night and decided to go for the Bioshock platinum, as I'm still feeling the FPS bug (SSX can wait). Also, because of that I'm trying to badger some mates to help me out with the multiplayer trophies on MW3, as I'm close to getting that sorted out too.

I'm too poor this month to go out and buy new games, so my trophy backlog will be getting lots of love over the next few weeks!

EDIT: Also just noticed that for some reason I'm listed as "CaptQuasiel" on the leaderboard! Could it be changed to CaptQasiel? Cheers!

Well I didnt make much of my goals last month. I won't bother with goals anymore but I will post progress!

So far in August, I'm at 890/1655 in Fallout New Vegas. A big chunk of that gamerscore was earned in July though. I've earned all the GRA achievements and I have almost all the achievements for the base original 1000. I just need to complete 1) House and Caesar storylines (should be very quick and easy, I have a 65-hour save file with a buff character ready to go to the Legion's fort and handle both stories), 2) discover 125 locations (I have about 118 discovered now), and 3) beat the game on hardcore (I'll do this the cheap 2-hour way after I do the DLC).

Once I get the original 900/1000 (ie everything except hardcore) I'm gonna do the DLC.

Any tips on what order I should do the DLC in? I'll be tackling all of them with a level 27+ character with 65-hour save file so difficulty shouldn't matter. Id love to do them from worst to best.

Also because a tiny bit of Fallout fatigue set in, I ignored the Westside community, and Vaults 34 and 11.

Am I doing myself a disservice by ignoring them? I've spent 2-6 hours in every other big community (the vault with the plants, nellis, etc.). I got tired of doing that after 60 hours.

Playing through Spiderman: Shattered Dimensions on PS3 with my girls. There is a lot of back story explanation that I have to do since I am familiar with the characters.

I got through Two Words - 40/41 achievements, dunno if I have the chutzpah to grind out the last achievement. Moved on to Split/Second on the 360. Again, don't know if I care enough to 1000/1000 that one.

Bought Endless Space yesterday from Steam. Whoops. There went my Sunday.

i'm running a marathon of "nonplayed games" over a year after the purchase before fall semester begin

i want to raise my plats number , sly collection seems a good "easy plat"

add me bro :D

Had a great double today. Tried this weekend to get the Hard to the Core trophy in Dead Space 2 (last trophy for plat), died twice (once in Ch6 and once in Ch13 fffuuuuu). Managed to get my third save on Ch13 on the third try and decided I try and finish it on Monday. Man I was so proud when I got it today and I was kinda freaking out on the final flying section fearing I would screw it up, but I didn't. Pretty proud of this plat, took some effort. Took me about a year hiatus after getting the second to last trophy, just like with Dead Space 1 haha. Probably should get Extraction too since KaizorPenguin was updating on it ITT.

Died at the same place thrice, going through
Ishimura
without a save is terrifying.

Not a lot of people playing MGS4 looking from the YGCs.

Between trying to get the last trophy in MLB12, I'm working on the ICO platinum. Just did my first run through, now I gotta do a speed run and a 3rd cleanup for the remaining 2 there will be.

Sadface :(

Opened my brand new copy of Resistance 3, got to level 3 and the system crashed. I restarted and the game froze loading level 3 after I chose continue. Tried it again and it froze. I loaded level 2 to see if 3 would load after finishing it. Level 2 worked but crashed after 2 mins of gameplay. Pressed the power button, got green light, quick yellow light then flashing red.

It may just be overheated as today was a hot one and the ol 60gb system was on for a hour or two playing music as I cleaned up the mancave. Funny thing is I'm more concerned about my game saves than the system. I have a few unfinished games that I was close to platinum. Gone to bed now, will try the ol gal in the morning...

Been chugging through Dead Island but Resonance of Fates a super slow one. Going to open Asuras Wrath wednesday. On the Sony side been knocking out little Mortal Kombat Vita achievements.

True dat. Even though I knew that section by memory it still freaked me out, even if there weren't many enemies.

I want to play MGS4 too but I have a 60gb that is fully loaded. I could buy a new HDD but at this point in the generation I don't really bother, so after I finish up some older games I'm gonna get to it.

LiquidSolid is probably the biggest MGS enthusiast here so I'm guessing he will be the first of the group to plat it.

Finished off my 'Brave' run of Brave for the Gaelic Hero Trophy. That final level is killer for children, but it is finished so I can start grinding for the trophy where you have to buy all upgrades. I hope to get it finished by the end of the week.

Boom POW!, another two backlog plats. How productive.... :D

Dug up my copy of Tomb Raider Underworld to get the last 2 treasures and relics. Was afraid to get the infamous treasure glitch so I already had multiple saves (from three years ago damn). Thankfully it didn't happen and the plat was mine relatively fast. Treasure mode is great because there are no enemies so you can just check out where you need to go.

Then I reinstalled Fallout New Vegas. I left it behind 2 years ago due to new titles that had to be played (lol). I already was working on multiple different saves for all the "get 10.000 X trophies" and the pickpocket/hacking ones. I was so bored doing that, that I never felt like beating them, also because I had to finish a Hardcore run and I was pretty burned out on Fallout at the time.

Turns out I was pretty advanced in all the 10.000 trophies (as I vaguely recollected from memory), so those trophies popped fairly quickly. I read up this weekend on the 2ish hour Hardcore Run and attempted that too. Surprisingly easy to pull off. Got my platinum and I can finally put this game to rest for a while (don't care about the DLC)

Deleted Fallout game data and reinstalled Silent Hill Collection. I had a 2 savegame run saved right before the end (church) but I was pretty disappointed in the quality of the collection when it came out, so I dropped it to play other titles. Did a quick finish to pop the 2-save trophy and input PrincessHeart on the title screen for the easiest gold trophy ever. Still need to get the Possessed and UFO ending for plat but for now I couldn't be bothered. Booted up Ratchet HD, might try and finish/grind that out first for the next plat.

Cleaning out backlog plats: Feelsgoodman.

Was working on Ico. First run through was kind of on my own. Second, I got the no deaths trophy which I could have got on my first run if I wasn't getting impatient while learning the last section where there is no saving. I just missed the 2hr completion (Castle Guide) by 1min4s as well because I shitted around and got the trophy for getting the mace.

Was so pissed at myself, but I just did another run through using my same save from that 2nd run....I was like 10min off pace using the final save, but I knew I also made a lot of platforming errors towards the end, so I figured I could shave time if I could do it all on the first try.

Bam, got it (so fucking close),omg, 1:59:41 Redemption!

Now I just have to go and get 'Shining Sword' on a half run......nevermind, full run again cause I also need the watermelon trophy which is at the end of your new game+

Got 3 Platinum trophies in the past 24-36-ish hours. Madagascar 3, Sound Shapes and Sound Shapes Vita

lol. each Sound Shapes plat boosted me by 15%. Supposedly they have the maximum value of a set? That's what someone told me

Am I LTTP that UNCyrus is Will Powers of The Tester Season 1?

A lot of people didn't watch Tester so I guess not, but it's still nice to see that the Tester had some contestants who played a lot of games. I remember seeing the gamercards of some of the contestants of later seasons, and they played very few PS3 games (not even taking their trophy score into account, which was abysmal for most too).

Double-platinum trophies in Sound Shapes (PS3/PS Vita). That puts my count up to 76 plats. Feels good, bro.

So jelly of Sound Shapes. I want that and Dyad NOW, but SCEE monkeys are still trying to find the upload button.

Is it like Motorstorm RC when you cloud sync, meaning all collected trophies pop at once on the other console when booting up?

You can check on YGC.net or PSN Profiles to see how many points are allocated to a title. Maximum for a tile without DLC is 1050 points

Isn't it 1250? I remember a couple games being higher than 1200 without their DLC. (3D Dot, 2010 FIFA, Castlevania)

Got double platinum for Sound Shapes.

I would be getting the MGS3 platinum had I not fucked up the Tsuchinoko thing. I'll have to make another quick runthrough.

Looks like I need to do 2 more play-throughs of Ratchet 3 (already have done 3!)

Start the game all over again and hope game doesn't fuck up on me =/

All for 1 Gold Trophy to get Platinum for Holy Quintinity: R&C 1, 2, 3, ACIT and A4O

feelsbadman.jpg =/

I just started playing it again last night, finished episode 2. I just need to power through it, not sure if I'll get the platinum. Just couldn't stand seeing 16% anymore, haha.

You might want to take a break between Sly 2 and Sly 3. Sly 3 is easy, but because they're very similar it is quite easy for a bit of fatigue to set in. There is only one really hard part in it. (The Chinese turret scene)

I beat Sly 2 in April I think, so I've given the series a nice rest. Game doesn't seem as bad as it did last time I tried it, so maybe the break worked.

Am I LTTP that UNCyrus is Will Powers of The Tester Season 1?

You would be correct on that. GAF actually has a few members from The Tester seasons. I know Cheska is on these boards and I have seen one of the contestants of the third season posting when the Tester Season 3 thread was going on.

What is sad is that a lot of the people that have been on the show have horrible trophy count where you can tell they barely even play the PS3. Not that they don't go for trophies but that they just don't play period.

I don't think my trophy score is that amazing but it at least shows that I play my PS3. I definitely had that over a lot of the season 3 contestants when I tried out.

--------

I haven't made that much progress in trophies this week since I have only been playing Rainbow Moon. I really hope people are right when they say that post game content makes you level like crazy because I am certainly not doing that right now. Going for a trophy to reach level 500 and I am only at level 61-63. I am about halfway to getting the trophy for playing for 100 hours.

Gah this whole HDD upgrade is taking longer than it should =_= I haven't played on my ps3 all week. Gonna get it ready by Thursday or Friday then start Jak 1 (my bro got the collection), will def. Platinum it since I alraedy 100% it many times on the PS2 ^o^v

Is Sounds Shapes like Motorstorm RC in that you have to be connected to PSN on Vita when you get a trophy for it to auto pop when you load the PS3 version? I'm going on a 4 day trip tomorrow and would love to play the game but would not want to replay it for the trophies again on PS3.

August Progress:

  • Darksiders- 1000/1000
  • Captain America- 1000/1000
  • Dante's Inferno- 1000/1000
  • ???
Finished up another 100% run of Darksiders since I'm getting 2 on the 360. Looking forward to the improved combat most. Knocked out Captain America and Dante's Inferno quickly after that. I had already plat'd all three so they went really fast, except for DI's unskippable cutscenes. I forget how much I hate platforming in a fixed 3D space. Need my right stick camera control.

The GS competition ends tonight at 12. No clue what to try and squeeze in. Bought a bunch of cheap games this weekend, but they'll all take at least two days. Can't believe I almost called in sick to play something like Dark Void today lol.

DeeDubs, any tips for a quick, painless 1000/1000 in Dante's Inferno?

I've been stuck on New Vegas for so long. Once I get that 1655 in NV I'm gonna play a ton of shorter action games for some quick playthroughs. I have Enslaved, Dante's Inferno, Lollipop Chainsaw, etc... in my backlog.

Wow that's a bummer.

Can anyone explain to me how the transfarring between MGS2/3 to Vita works? Is it like Motorstorm RC/ Sound Shapes? I read on PS3trophies that sometimes stuff (read: trophies) don't transfer over properly. Should I complete one title on one platform first and then transfer everything over to Vita/PS3? (depending on which platform I decide to play)

Since there are some people here who already platted the MGS HD titles I thought some of you might know.

I was hoping I could make Persona 4 Arena my next goal trophy-wise, but Arcsys decided to get funny with one or two trophies. Guess that's one plat I'm never getting. :/

Still gonna keep playing it anyway, then maybe do Sound Shapes.

As long as you are connected to the psn when you create your original save you are good.
Just link your save to the cloud or you can just transfer between wifi.
Works very well

need to play mgs 2 on hard and extreme and then i will have plat. takes forever to plat this game. 38 hours in vr missions 3 hours in snake tales. 11 hours first play with cutscenes then 5 second and 3rd. 4th and 5th about 4 hours.
So if all goes well it would of took me 68 hours. Its all ive played this month. and most of the end of last month,

Yes, just like MS:RC

Man, I've already explained this a couple of times in this thread.

It's just your save that's transfarred over, so if there's a trophy that you got on a different playthrough (as all progress except collectables are wiped when you saved over them with a NG+) or after you hit the last checkpoint, they won't unlock when you transfar the save.

There's one trophy in MGS3 that is literally impossible to get without actually playing it on both systems (
the kill Ocelot Time Paradox one, as it immediately results in a game over
) and a couple of others that will require a separate save or playthrough (any of the ones where you kill guys, as the one playthrough method relies on saving, killing guys and then loading the old save to go on with your no kills playthrough).

MGS2 is mostly unaffected but I believe it will forget some of the smaller trophies (like taking the photo of a soldier in his boxers).

In other words, no it's much worse than the Motorstorm RC/Sound Shapes method, which is funny considering how much Kojima hyped it up.

Anyway, been playing some MGS4. Already nearly finished my chicken and flashback run. If I've missed any flashbacks, I'm going to murder someone. I really don't want to sit through all these cutscenes again.

Metal gear 2 hasn't missed any on transfarring for me apart from steamed but I reloaded my save after I did that as I was going for no alerts so that was obvious.

So Sound Shapes has the MS:RC-esque cloud save sharing thing?

Not interested.
In this age of trophy hacking, you'll just look like a hacker with that double Platinum rapidly popping crap.
I guess we can assume all Sony published games that have PS3/Vita versions will have this feature. What a shame, the PS3 hacking and/or shared cloud data claimed Vita list's legitimacy (if it's understood it'd work the same as MS:RC).

And no, I'm not throwing shit at people who did the Platinum legit on one platform then gets it instantly on the other (which really in all honesty, can't be what was intended, but is tech being tech). I'm throwing shit at all the scumbags who are hacking the PS3 version, instant popping those, then carrying over to Vita and instant popping those too. Spineless.

I for one am happy MGS2 Vita cannot be exploited in that way. It seems MGS3 Vita has fallen though.
The hackers are all over MGS4 aready as well as evidenced by PSNprofiles leaderboard - a site which still hasn't went through on their word to remove cheating profiles. It's simply not priority because the admin doesn't really complete games, and doesn't understand the frustration when hackers obtain the same things you sweat for.

I was hoping I could make Persona 4 Arena my next goal trophy-wise, but Arcsys decided to get funny with one or two trophies. Guess that's one plat I'm never getting. :/

Yeah, from when I last checked nobody has been able to get 100% on either PS3 or 360 yet. Even with the PS3 version with thousands of Japanese players on the leaderboards alone. Apparently it's not just Challenges that are the issue, but "ALL Score Attack" and a few others.

I do wonder what Arc System Works will do for GGXX PSN/XBLA and BB: Chrono Phantasma in terms of trophies/achievements now. After BBCS:Extend it looked like they toned it down, but then with Persona 4 Ultimate/Arena, it's all amped up. I'm not asking for easy trophies/achievements at all, but P4A looks to be taking it a little too far. Not sure if we can chalk this off to no methods being known yet. To be fair when BB:CS first released I don't think anyone had 100% until a few weeks later, mostly due to the online ones (which are do-able just with time).

The trophy system is already borked to hell sadly. The introduction Game Genie only adds up to the hacking and cheating.

Vita seems to be the only bastion that is somewhat free of hacking (bar from the tites like Motorstorm and Sound Shapes you mentioned earlier)

How do you "hack" the PS3 version of Sound Shapes? Genuinely curious, as this is the first time I've ever heard of someone hacking to get trophies.

For people who are not in the know, there are entire forums dedicated to this shit. Sad but true. Graverobber pointed out some of these cheaters in last month's thread too.

EDIT: removed link to awful forum.

They were also the culprits that started the steps to PSNPocalypse becoming a reality

They were also the culprits that started the steps to PSNPocalypse becoming a reality

Wait, what are you trying to say exactly? That the people who started the CFW hacking (which in turn lead to the huge downtime) are responsible for the current trophy cheating methods? If so, that's correct. Before CFW trophy hacking, there was just a handful of vulnerable games cheated via elementary file replacing. Then came CFW and it was totally expanded and out of control, but contained due to CFW users requiring old PS3 firmwares. Then came December 2011, where a software took the CFW method and applied it to a PC program...and that's where trophy hacking went totally out of control, and it's only getting worse by the month. With Game Genie, it definitely might make it even more widespread.

The trophy system is already borked to hell sadly. The introduction Game Genie only adds up to the hacking and cheating.

Vita seems to be the only bastion that is somewhat free of hacking (bar from the tites like Motorstorm and Sound Shapes you mentioned earlier)

No, the trophy system is not ruined. The PS3 trophy system is - with the exception of online server stat based trophies and performance based trophies that won't pop with manipulated saves, every PS3 format software (retail and PSN) are vulnerable. It's only a ticking clock until Little Billy gets his "platty save" for a game to fall. Vita is pure only because of how it handles backup.

And that's just it. Backing up. Companies were being nice by giving the ability to back up saves to PC, but once you introduce "PC" to the mix, you're asking for problems.
Don't even get me started on Xbox 360 and backing up profiles - it lead to "profile editing" which makes the PS3 trophy hacking look like child's play. On there, they're simply toggling games to have the full 1000/1000 with the click of a button with PC software and taking it back to Xbox Live safely. Talk about sinister. Gamerscore Corrections are not enough, they need to cut that bullshit from making it to Xbox Live from the source.
Anyway, what I'm saying is, cut out ability to back up to PC, and literally all trophy/achievement manipulation will come to an end.
Remember these?:
memory-card-ps1ihscd.jpg

I think it's time to bring them back. No backing up to PC bullshit, just proprietary memory cards. I don't care if people complain. Cloud saves can be an additional option - again free of any sign of being able to be taken to PC. This is the only way to lock out trophy/achievement save manipulation. Mix that with a PS Vita-esque backup (without PC backup) method and it's foolproof.

As for Game Genie, it's not the existence of it that's an outrage in itself (the other software was the nail in the coffin), it's the fact that Sony approved the product to be in the market and sold at retail. This is almost concrete evidence that Sony has no idea what's going on OR doesn't care and is apathetic.

Fun fact: The blog.share site strangely doesn't approve trophy hacking topics. The SCEA support site also removed the "Trophy" entry in the support contact dropdown list a few months ago, as trophy hacking started to really escalate and they were more than likely getting lots of people complaining. Sounds like SCEA at least knows what is going on but instead of taking action, is trying to make believe it doesn't exist and as little people find out. Also note Game Genie is an American product, just like where SCEA is.

And Steve, PLEASE remove that stuff about how to cheat and the link to the cheat forum. Believe it or not, lots of people are lurking this thread and cheaters will be bred.

Luckily you can play on easy. There are four types of collectibles and Rooster Teeth has a great Youtube guide for all of them by chapter. Spam Cross for most hard enemies. It'll take at least 1.5 playthroughs because you have to max good and evil exp. There are relics that you find that grant bonus exp for either side. I try and equip those instead of the combat related ones. It'll make combat harder but it seems to save a little time. Easily knocked out in a couple nights after work.
