Activision: Next CoD to bring 'meaningful innovation' & on Bungie's next game

Yeah, IW today isn't the real IW.

Although MW3 was still better than anything Treyarch has done.

If anything, MW3 was a step backwards, removing features that I enjoyed in BlOps.

The custom Emblem designer, viewing people's combat records in the lobby, AI bots in custom games, dolphin diving, CoD points, being able to turn the music off in the lobby, Red Dot sight customization, rightfully getting the kill when you down someone, Wager Matches, equipment slot separate from grenades, accessing vault/file share directly from the lobby, "random" map vote choice.

And on a personal opinion, I liked the Black Ops maps much more.
And the spawn system in MW3 sucks. Oh, and quick-scoping snipers are now back.
:/

Pretty much bang on the money as to why I stopped playing MW3, Black Ops is just oh so better.

IW/Sledgehammer brought a ton of change to the franchise with MW3, more than Treyarch has imho, but the maps are just so godawful that it doesn't really matter. W@W is still my favorite one so I have high hopes for CoD 9: Black Ops 2

I just dont think I can bring myself to buy the next Call of Duty. I think it's just wearing me down.

-almost the same game every year
-overpriced DLC (that isn't even that good)
-So much glitching and boosting.
-I've grown to hate IW and Activision for letting COD4 go to shit (hacking)

I saw so much boosting in MW3 in INFECTION last night, it literally made me want to sell the game. I love COD, But i'm finally getting that "COD fatigue" I hear so much about.
It's pretty bad when I'm seriously considering buying Black Ops again.

I want Black Ops 2 to not to change much from Black Ops. The multiplayer is my favorite in the series, I just worry Treyarch will try to be more like IW. If I like BO2, I'm jumping on the (paid) elite bandwagon.
I just hate the MW games multiplayer, thats why I've only played very few games of MW3. The maps are pretty bad as well.

But if Treyarch screws up BO2 or changes it way too much, then I'm sure Black Ops will have a decent population for a couple years.

Man, I want info on Bungie's game so much. Its been years in development now, some info would be nice.

The only meaningful innovation would be to not release a new CoD in 2012.

They should stop pumping out the same game every year. Take a break for a year or two, then amaze the world with a true next-gen CoD.

I think for COD the best thing they could do would be drop the single player to 30 FPS and majorly upgrade the graphics, since graphics seemed to be the main reason people got all excited over BF3.

Keep the multi at 60 for smooth play.

I had a thought about Elite the other day, Acti is rushing to get COD on a sub basis, but yet pretty much every MMO besides WOW seems to be moving toward free to play. Just a thought why Elite may not be the right move. Then again Acti does own the one RPG that seems to do ok on subscription, WOW.

Ehh, maybe with the next gen thing, But I think COD's yearly updates are probably a good idea.

I mean, I dont think Joe Six Pack minds buying one game a year. I mean, a year is a damn long time in anything but game release terms.

Hell to me that's why BF3 wont be a serious competitor, ok, EA made some inroads with it in 2011, now what? In 2012 another COD will be out and BF will have nothing, sapping it's momentum.

I'm sort of torn on yearly updates really, but I definitely dont think they're all bad.

EA will have Medal of Honor this year. They plan to alternate between BF and MOH and I hope they give up the annoying "COD killer" hype with Medal of Honor this year. After BF3 failed miserably it will just look stupid.

Custom emblem designer was pretty cool indeed, but what i missed from Black Ops is that you dont get a background or emblem for doing challenges. Otherwise i think that Black Ops is a pretty great game indeed.

Ooh yeah give me BC 3 i love that part more then bf3 atleast the campaign side multiplayer doesn't really matter to me.

Treyarch and innovation? The two don't go together. They'll forever be in the shadows of Infinity Ward trying to sheepishly recreate what they do so well.

I'm interested in what Bungie will be doing. Halo is overrated as hell, but they are talented devs. I hope their new IP appeals to me more.

Halo is tragically underrated if anything.

Destruction 2.0?

Might change up the playstyle

No way they would sacrifice that frame rate for destruction. There is a reason BF runs at 30 fps on console.

Would buy the next COD if its called

COD: Viktor Reznov being badass
or
COD: Viktor Reznov and Token American

Treyarch knows what the fans want.

I never sell a game I have bought DLC for, particularly a game with as much DLC as CoD. The years worth of DLC usually costs the RRP of the game, and you'd be lucky to get half of that back at trade. And even if you did, that's only like 25% of your overall investment in the game. It just doesn't make financial sense to me.

Also, with the games being so similar, it's just nice to be able to stick an old CoD in to get a very similar experience, just with "fresh" maps and guns. I have the MW trilogy, WaW and BlOps, and I like to rotate every few months to keep things interesting.

somehow i don't think that will end. MOH sold well despite it being average, BF3 is the best selling BF ever and MW3 is apparently now on track to sell less than BO... EA will see that as a huge success and i really don't know if that's a good ir a bad thing.

I just hope there will be destructible environments in the next COD game. It's really annoying when some shaggy hut can stop predator missiles.

Meh, World @ War and Black Ops are best games in the modern series right afrer original MW. Also zombie mode is so much fun!

Finally, the company didn't say much about the next game from Halo creator, Bungie. The developer penned a ten-year publishing deal with Activision in 2010 and the first title to emerge from that contract is likely to be announced at this year's E3. Kotick told us that, "We're very excited about it – they are a superb developer; they're going to deliver something exceptional."

Don't...it hurts. ME WANT!!!

I can see Activision pushing TREYARCH to make wonky COD while SLEDGEHAMMER/INFINITY WARD make the "serious" ones.
A difference of tone can open up differentiated gameplay options and MP.

MW3 is better than MW2, which is the worst Call of Duty game and one of the worst games I ever played.

Except for
Soap dying
, sure. But the maps are god awful in MW3 in comaprison to MW2 which were tolerable but bad (Skidrow not withstanding).

Why they can't port all these maps and put them on disc/Blu-ray, I'll never understand. (Oh, right, gotta get that port $$$$$$$$ like CoD4 maps in CoD6 via DLC)

Agreed. MW2 was one of the few games that just disgusted me everytime I played it. I didn't feel good getting kills OR playing with my buddies.
