I honestly don't think anyone could give an answer to that. Ever since the game was announced every single aspect was under scrutiny, and I just don't understand why. Best I can come up with for back then was there was a small group of Halo/Xbox fans who were angry at Bungie going multi platform, but that wouldn't hold for two years later.

Ignore fact, show fake concern. Interesting trend here
Kings fall buffs . What about buffs to every other part of the game ?

Raid weapons like most weapons now are just food for your meaty gunJokes on Bungie. The King's Fall Raid weapons are average, pales in comparison to VoG. I have better chance in decrypting 310 stuff from exotic engrams .

Couple things:
The Valorous/Heuristic/Indomitable Light were Three of Coins-like buffs sold by the Speaker for Motes+Planetary Materials (I honestly don't remember exactly what they cost, [but it was never Silver] I can't keep the entire economy in my head) but for a variety of bug-related reasons they were removed. They were also - as has been pointed out - in the data files before TTK shipped.
Game design can be affected by microtransactions like this. Whenever a publisher/developer knows they can make money off of impatient people they can/may design the game to take longer for certain things to happen to encourage microtransaction sales. Which sucks for those not wanting to be nickel and dimed or spend an exorbitant amount of time to keep up with others. Not saying that is what is happening here. But it sure looks like it.
You should also fear your failing eyesight, apparently. My fear exactly.
But right now there are no consumable items . So why have that in your description ? Unless you are planning on adding them soon.
The microtransactions are only for dance emotes from my understanding.Sooo... I was hoping to get back into the game, but I'm having a hard time understanding the latest changes revolving around the microtransaction thing. Any good summary around?

So they don't tie in with all the changes made to the game structure with TTK?
