Additional microtransaction(?) items found in latest Destiny patch?

I love how Luke smiths vague Twitter response only mentions kings fall buffs. What about buffs for all other parts of the game .

In the return section of the eververse store it says "consumable items non returnable"

But right now there are no consumable items . So why have that in your description ? Unless you are planning on adding them soon.

And I don't mind buffs such as a quick level boost for a char . But if it starts effecting good loot drop rates then I begin to worry.

Just wait and see I guess . I'm already worn out of taken King quests so hopefully they start adding more soon .

This will play out just like advanced warfare supply drops. Activision saw how much money people spent on advanced supply drops in cod. so I'm not surprised consumables are coming to destiny.

Sledge hammer Stated they would never sell supply drops. 8 months later We now have gear and weapons only available in purchasable supply drops.

I honestly don't think anyone could give an answer to that. Ever since the game was announced every single aspect was under scrutiny, and I just don't understand why. Best I can come up with for back then was there was a small group of Halo/Xbox fans who were angry at Bungie going multi platform, but that wouldn't hold for two years later.

A lot of solo/"content tourist" type players got burned bad by Destiny's design and advertising, combined with the lack of in-game lfg and clan tools. Bungie's communication (or lack thereof) of their design decisions throughout Destiny's release also doesn't engender much trust out of them or Activision.

I also suspect they're trying to drag already and near-developed content out for year 2 because they need as much content as they can create for Destiny 2.

because some people in this thread are still ignoring this tweet.....

Jokes on Bungie. The King's Fall Raid weapons are average, pales in comparison to VoG. I have better chance in decrypting 310 stuff from exotic engrams .
Raid weapons like most weapons now are just food for your meaty gun

I hope bungee just releases 310 versions of vog and its armor becomes infuse worthy

Kings fall buffs . What about buffs to every other part of the game ?

There's no buffs to "every other part of the game".

There's level buffs and subclass buffs (telemetries and more XP [actually its Glimmer, not XP, sorry] from enemies can already be dropped ingame). And I do believe those are going to be introduced, but they may be done right (like the free Spark of Light was) if their focus is newcomers who want to level their character while not having to play obsolete content.

I see no problem in having a auto-level 25 item and a fully subclass level (if they only allow it ONCE per character) for people who don't care about grinding vanilla content. Several MMOs do this to get new players up to par with the new content, so if Destiny also does it the way I described what would be the problem?

Ignore fact, show fake concern. Interesting trend here

Which fact is being ignored?

Couple things:

The Valorous/Heuristic/Indomitable Light were Three of Coins-like buffs sold by the Speaker for Motes+Planetary Materials (I honestly don't remember exactly what they cost, [but it was never Silver] I can't keep the entire economy in my head) but for a variety of bug-related reasons they were removed. They were also - as has been pointed out - in the data files before TTK shipped.

Game design can be affected by microtransactions like this. Whenever a publisher/developer knows they can make money off of impatient people they can/may design the game to take longer for certain things to happen to encourage microtransaction sales. Which sucks for those not wanting to be nickel and dimed or spend an exorbitant amount of time to keep up with others. Not saying that is what is happening here. But it sure looks like it.

My fear exactly.

I really regret being lured back in with all of the fixes and new content, only for them to suddenly introduce microtransactions after milking the game dry. At least with Halo 5, all the cards are on the table before it comes out and it appears to be a pretty harmless way of giving everyone all of the DLC content for free from day one.

Simply put, the way this game has been handled is deceitful as fuck. Which is a shame, as I really love the gameplay. But all they are doing now is driving me away yet again and I damn sure will not be there to drink up all of their Destiny II promises.

But right now there are no consumable items . So why have that in your description ? Unless you are planning on adding them soon.

Because Destiny already has consumable cosmetic effects.

The assumption to be made here is that they will sell consumable cosmetic effects.

Sooo... I was hoping to get back into the game, but I'm having a hard time understanding the latest changes revolving around the microtransaction thing. Any good summary around?

If they do not nerf the drop rates to make these new sales appealing, I think it is great. For people with jobs and kids who do not have time to grind and have money to spend - should be a good solution. If the prices are not that high, I might buy this since I play this game quite a bit but find the grind off putting.

So they don't tie in with all the changes made to the game structure with TTK?

No. The only microtransactions currently implemented are for emotes. Unless you count the recently released Halloween themed masks which you can also buy. But those are cosmetic as well.
