Uh.... That sounds awful and downright scary to be honest.

Sounds like terrible people. That's not punching up, that's punching down to a point that people could easily take it seriously and find them life threatening. If that's found funny, that says something more about these people making these kinds of jokes and the people who enjoy it.

Punching up or punching down, what is the matter? If you're making a joke at another human being's expense you're in the wrong no matter the individual. Comedy, if it is to be enjoyed honestly, cannot be moralized. I generally dislike edgy bastards, but if we look at all the great comedians that's all they ever were. I'm all for discussing the morality of comedy, but really, the punching up/down distinction always struck me as dishonest.

the punching up/down distinction is pretty clearly marxist propaganda. I don't think most communists would even disagree. It relies on the inherently marxist worldview that the bourgeois a) exist and b) should not exist, and are therefore the only class of person that can be safely lampooned.

Okay, then morally, acting like an assassin for 4 years targeting a specific person to the point where it comes off life threatening where you cannot tell fact from fiction is morally reprehensible.

Uh, as far as I know they only feuded for a week or two. Jayce never even mentioned Wu until GG happened and naturally, his character wound up on the wrong side because that was most appropriate. I remember laughing my ass off when kotaku reported the most fake fight video I've ever seen as being evidence that Wu's life was in danger from the guy who sent his best friend to Israel to look for fucking 2pac.

We're into Cultural Marxism now?

I thought you guys were trying to convince us he wasn't alt-right!
who said anything about cultural marxism?

I don't think anyone would deny that he is right leaning. At least comparable to Parker and Stone, probably a lot more.

You didn't use the word "cultural" but you just handwaved off an aspect of culture -- the idea of jokes punching up or down -- as "Marxist propaganda."

The fuck else should I call what you just did?

Would you disagree that the bourgeois/proletariat dichotomy speaks to a marxist/communist/socialist worldview?

Holy hell that Chelsea Clinton video is terrible. Not only do they not come off as funny in any form, the video backfires and just shows how classy and respectable Clinton and her crowd is!

Why would they even post that? It's just embarrassing for them.

"You're Ugly" is the best thing they could muster up? Christ.

I don't care if it was for a week or two. I realize it happened during GG too. There were so many real threats disguised with trollish remarks and videos that it's hard to tell if he was a comedian or not.

He sounded no different from everyone else at the time.

Curiosity got the best of me so I decided to youtube a clip of the show

I have no idea if this was a segment on the show or what, but this is an actual upload to their official channel

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z9ePhVDYRiE

Clearly, this is a troupe of assholes. Multiple people harassing Chelsea Clinton at a rally... that's humor/entertainment?

And the comments section makes it clear this guy/program is a beacon of the alt-right. The top comment is from their official channel, upvoted to the moon, and it's disgusting.
Renew the show. I've been following MDE before their big TED talk stunt and LOVE WP. Some of it is hit and missed but god damn this is their best sketch:

Yeah, I can say the alt-right stuff is a bit too obvious, but I feel like it's Sam Hyde spearheading it. They should tone it down a little bit, sometimes their best stuff isn't political.

This shit is trash

I don't get the point of debating World Peace itself since as far as I can see the show does nothing wrong as far as illicit material that would get a show off the air goes. The issue's almost entirely about the people behind MDE and their behavior you can immediately look up about them but everybody seems to be debating the value of the show and whether it's appropriate to have jokes about certain topics.

Sam Hyde being an attention-seeking troll on twitter and youtube is going to be what undoes World Peace's run on [as], not World Peace itself.

Granted, I've only watched the videos posted in this thread but I didn't see anything with jokes in it.

Do you have an example? I might be missing something but what I've seen so far would put this show below Moral Orel on the comedy scale. As dark as that show was it attempted humor at times. I haven't seen any attempts from MDE

I'm disappointed to see Dino Stamatopoulos's humor so lowly regarded in terms of comedic scale. I loved Morel Orel.

i watched a couple episodes and it had white guys saying f*ggot and n*gga. one sketch was about a guy getting cucked (and the black guy's name was chigger.)

also man i dunno about the quality of a lot of these sketches. they just seem like tim and eric sketches but initially played a bit more straight(ish) and then the punchline is some LOL RANDOM thing happening. would you call that subversive? i dunno if it's subversive.

a good example (and the one that got a laugh out of me): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=orTYukcEO0o

but for the most part it's.... eh. that sort of comedy that forgoes wit for edgy randomness.

Metalocalypse got taken off air before the final season and this kind of show still lives on... I look forward to seeing what Adult Swim will be like once Lazzo is gone.

Fresh Tap is my favorite sketch from this season, it relates to the Flint water crisis.
