Adventure Time 3DS Game? [Update2: Yes! DS and 3DS!]

I kind of feel the same. I looked through their games, and I didn't really see anything that stood out as high quality. I'm not really sure why people are excited about their involvement. Although, as long as Pen is in charge I can't really see this going wrong.

Shantae GBC
Contra 4 DS
Shantae: Risky's Revenge DSiWare
Aliens DS

These are some of the ones I've seen people praise on GAF. Usually at the least, their sprite-based 2D graphics are pretty rad in motion.

Batman on Wii was a pretty awesome beatemup.

In general, I think Wayforward makes mediocre games that are fun to look at. Those games you mentioned are really good, though.

Hoping this is some type of Zelda game.

Awesome news!!! :D

I'm curious to see how the 2 versions will differ...

Heck, considering how much I love both WayForward and Adventure Time, I'll probably end up buying both, haha.

Yet you watch a show aimed at young people.

Aimed at young people only because it is on Cartoon Network. This show got it's start as a one-off short on Adult Swim, and for good reason. It's totally kid friendly, but the level of bizzaro humor is through the roof and it's pretty clear that the creators spent a lot of time watching Red & Stimpy and other such shows when growing up.

I love just about every game WayForward develops. Aliens: Infestation in particular was one of my favourite games of 2011, and I still fire it up every once in a while to fight the epic final battle with my all-female marine squad.

You forgot A Boy and his Blob and Sigma Star Saga on your list, though. Those games were the proverbial bomb.

unlike MLP, there is legitimately hilarious stuff for an older crowd in Adventure Time. and the people who make the show acknowledge it instead of saying "oh well i guess that's neat that they like it...but it's for little girls"

*runs out laughing maniacally*

This makes no sense.

ok then

ugh wayforward

i've never enjoyed one of their games

It is when complaining that the game is aimed at young people. :P

Nothing to worry about with Ward's involvement.

It means the gameplay might be a little easier than expected, but with Pen Ward involved at the very least it will be hilarious.

Honestly the dream Adventure Time game would be developed by Double Fine. Pen and Tim are friends (at least, they chatter on Twitter all the time) and their senses of humor match perfectly for this kind of project.

This is right, but there's a lot of things in AT that are aimed at adults, references to H.P Lovecraft, hidden penises (i'm not even kidding), gaming references and Death Metal.

I don't really care... this is a killer game for me. One game that can make me get a 3DS earlier than I wanted.

I wasn't complaining i said it "kinda scares me"...

I just hope the game won't be too dumbed down in terms of mechanics or something to cater to a young audience, but i guess Wayforward's games SO far have pretty much been universally good and challenging even, so let's hope this turns out well!

I'm still having trouble accepting that I am getting an Adventure Time game by WayForward and a new Illusion game by DreamRift.

It's just... It's just too awesome. My most hyped games for 3DS right now are Western developed and by two awesome 2d western devs.

As I said earlier, IWATA WAS RIGHT! WESTERN SUPPORT IS CATCHING UP, OH MY GLOB!

Joking :P

AT isn't for young people. At the very least, there's a lot of stuff that'll fly over their heads.

heh, wh-- wai-- wait, what?

Look, if it's a generally inoffensive, jovial show with a colorful, simple art style, there's a really good chance that it really is either made "for" kids or intended to appeal to them ALONG WITH anybody else. Which is great. And it's great to enjoy it as much as you damn want. But if you can't or don't want to realize that it is on a certain level meant to appeal to children, who in all likelihood will be the ones driving its popularity, then you're entering a dangerous spiral of weak or insane arguments like the above, when all you need to do is go "so what?" and continue enjoying it on your own terms.

Dreamrift, Wayforward...

its only missing Vanillaware to have the holy trinity of 2D on 3DS

Do we know what kind of game it's going to be? Side-scrolling beat-em-up, or a action/adventure title with RPG elements. I know Ward is a huge gamer, and he's definitely a creative guy. So it'll be interesting to see what kind of game he has envisioned for it.

The press release mentioned "exploring dungeons," so it's most likely an RPG of some kind. Whether it's an action- or turned-based remains to be seen.

Well in any case, they've got a ton of potential for whichever play style.

This makes wish for a Regular Show game. If this game does well, maybe WayForward can do that one as well. I'd love to play Regular Show action-rpg in the vein of Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga.

I would love that. Aside from Dexter, Regular Show and Adventure Time are the only shows I actually watch, so the more love they get the happier I am.

I always imagined a Regular Show game as an old-school beat-em-up in the vein of Final Fight or Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World. It makes sense as that's pretty much the only type of game they play in the show,

It's likely the DS version will just have text. I'm hoping they get voice work for the 3DS version.

If they don't, I'll be mighty disappointed. This game needs five things to be great and only five:

1. Voice acting

2. Vast amount of equipment (Gold sword, root sword, demon blood sword, different sweaters, etc.)

3. Jake powers

4. Hunson Abadeer

5. Gunter

Beemo better record your saves.

I hope that the creators of Adventure Time can get Nintendo to put out 3 limited edition 3DS's. Would easily sell out.

BMO, Finn and Jake, and Lady Raincorn editions.
Show is insanely popular
