Except only the hardcore gamers will ever read the shit that's streaming out of penello's mouth. The casuals will never know what some suit said about some console that one time.
That is exactly my point.

Consoles want to be more like PC's. It's already happening. Game installs anyone? Updates and patches all over the place. Web browsing, looking at your photos and videos, the list goes on. Come on now.
And yes a console already did that for me. The N64 did that for me. And I bought excite bike and star wars that took advantage of it.
It changes perspective as the machine matures in terms of what it is capable of.
The PS3 got tons of lousy junky broken sub HD ports of Xbox 360 titles but Uncharted 2, God of War and all it proved that in the right hands it could compete and excel.
Just get Titanfall out the door at 1080p 60fps and people might shut up about this. Lead by example.
That doesn't jibe with his earlier quote which was
"Given the rumored specs for both systems, can anyone conceive of a circumstance or decision one platform holder could make, where despite the theoretical performance benchmarks of the components, the box that appears weaker could actually be more powerful?"
Seems like he is alluding to something other than
casuals leik TV and xbox is da coolest brand yo
He isn't delusional - he fully knows what he's doing and that's what makes it despicable...
There were no issues with Burnout. Dev lead on PS3.
not if it's like forza and looks like shit
900p 60 would be nice
I think they are banking on the big games, such as COD, sports titles, to carry over their system loyalty to this gen. Do we have any numbers on COD and the online community for PS4 vs Xbox One yet?
There's people who can talk better about the memory stuff than but basically ps4s memory is all fast so there isn't anything you need to do to optimise access speed. On the xbo the small amount esram is much faster than the rest of the memory so making the best possible use of it is a key area for optimisation. PS4 solution will always be better but good use of esram can theoretically mitigate most of the difference. And you don't think PS4's 8GB of GDDR5 won't see some optimization? Or a possible boost in clock speed for the CPU? (Microsoft has already done this)
This is a fair point actually that I hadn't considered. It is important for people that might be mislead that the BS is dispelled. It should be expected, but it should also be treated skeptically and unspun where appropriate every single time.

This is all true but the problem is the casual audience has a $100 cheaper option and more information on the fact that those games either look or perform better on that cheaper option. He knows, what some don't in here, that the casuals aren't going to know/care at this point. Are they going to return their systems that they play sports games on and COD type games because of this? No way. I know these people. It is nothing more than internet fodder for core gamers on sites like ours to annihilate him over. Once we understand that I think some can move on to fight other battles.
You are absolutely correct, but the difference being the PS3 was still on paper the superior machine tech wise. The difference was it was so freaking complicated to program for that only the first party studios could do anything with it.
Flash Forward to now. Not only is the PS4 much more powerful, it's much easier to program. That is a double whammy to the XB1. Exclusives like Ryse will look good yes but it's always going to lack in third party games. And it will only get worse as time goes by.
And believe me, I wanted so badly to have an Xbox One before I knew the specs on the machine (and of course all the bullshit drm policies). I played everything on 360 last gen, only used my PS3 as a Naughty God machine. There is no way I am going to pay for the XB1 right now when it is so severely gimped compared to it's competition.
Yeah It's not like the last time there were clear differences between the quality of games on the PS3 or 360 that it was represented in sales...Oh wait
I know there's blood in the water, but really, what else is this guy supposed to say?
I'm not familiar with Penello at all, but we know any of these company execs are going to do their best to paint their platform in the best light possible.
I have no interest in the Xbox ONE, but it's going to be fine. As a PlayStation fan who was on the receiving end of the absurd framerate/resolution wars of the PS3 and Xbox 360, I'm not about to be a part of this Xbox ONE shit. Turnabout is fair play, sure, but I just find rubbing noses in it that much fun.
The PS4 is a beast. The Xbox ONE isn't the beast the PS4 is, but it's certainly better than the 360, and we'll get some great stuff out of it. My biggest problem with the ONE is that $500 price tag. The system itself seems pretty cool, but I haven't played one.

And no, Sony will not up clock their CPU post launch.
What do we get now that it's double?Albert Penello said: "I will ask two questions of the detractors, honest questions.
1. What piece of information would you want that I could provide that would convince you there is not a huge delta in performance?
2. If it comes out after we launch that the difference between 3rd party games is maybe single-digit FPS between the two platforms, will I get an apology or concession?"
It looks fine, mostly because it doesn't get stepped on by the sharpness filter.not if it's like forza and looks like shit
900p 60 would be nice
Don't be ridiculous. Forza 5 look pretty amazing. Oh no it lacks AA, the horror. I'll take a 1080 60 Titanfall without AA.
That was more so due to the price of the consoles and the different times in which they released (which caused things such as, "I have more friends on Xbox Live") than anything else.

Come on guys what else is he supposed to say?
Source is basic understand of computer architecture and also having read a shit load of threads about it on gaf over last year.Source of these claims? Is it Penello?

WW Sony is in a comfortable lead with both COD and BF4. In the NPD thread didn't BF4 and COD sell more on PS4 as well?
This is just straight-up nonsense. Selective screenshots aside, Forza looks gorgeous.
I do agree that I would rather see 900p 60fps than 1080p 30fps.

Despite all that, things will even out this gen, more than than a gap widening. They are bigger difference this gen than last, but I think given the outcry about resolution and frame rate.. devs will respond with making Xbox One games reach 1080p/60 or at least match those values on PS4. However, since it's less powerful, you'll see compromises made in a less quantitative way. People want 1080p/60? Fine. match those numbers, and then take away detail and effects to achieve it. 1080 is fine, but I'd rather have the frame rate.
COD and BF4, and Madden sold better on One than PS4 in December, no?

Not trying to troll, but honestly, what do some of you expect Albert to say? He can't just say, "Yeah, you're right. They've got us beat there." He has to spin it. Any public relations type of employee from any company would do the same.
I pretty much feel the same way. I would prefer for Xbox One multipats to be 1080p (since my TV is 1080p) with the same frame rate as the PS4 versions. I don't care much about added visual details.
And again, that's what I think will be the case for most multiplats this current gen. -- 1080p at the same frame rate on both consoles but with the PS4 having more detail. Heck, that's pretty much the case for the majority of multipats now anyway.
not exactly
the PS3 had a far superior CPU but a weaker GPU - devs used the CPU strengths helped mitigate the GPU difference
If you don't give a shit about what the game looks like then why not just stick with the last gen version?Too bad casual audiences don't care. Just had my friend drop by yesterday and was like "PS4? Dude why didn't you get a Xbox One?!"
Most people don't give a shit if one version clearly runs like dirt compared to the other.

I agree that at the moment. Ryse is by far the best looking next gen title on both system.
