This set sounds incredible. Can't wait for it to come out. Let's hope Fox doesn't fuck with the master on this like they did with Predator. (Probably not, with Scott and Cameron involved).
Two versions of each film. DTS-HD Master Audio. Commentaries on each film. All previous material from the Laserdisc and Quadrilogy sets. Hopefully this was still produced by Charles de Lauzirika (Almost all Ridley Scott DVDs, such as Kingdom of Heaven and Blade Runner, Alien Quadrilogy).

Comic-Con 2010
LOS ANGELES—(BUSINESS WIRE)—Sometimes, the scariest things come from within. Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment presents one of the most successful and terrifying film franchises of all time when the ALIEN ANTHOLOGY debuts on Blu-ray for the first time ever from October 25 internationally and on October 26 in North America. All four ALIEN films have been reinvigorated for an intense Blu-ray high-definition viewing experience. The release also marks the debut of MU-TH-UR Mode, a fully interactive companion that takes the extensive materials in the ALIEN ANTHOLOGY and puts them in the user's hand – connecting fans to special features on all six discs and instantly providing an index of all available ALIEN content, including over 60 hours of special features and over 12,000 images.

"Wreckage and Rage: The Making of ALIEN3"
The ALIEN ANTHOLOGY is a truly unique home entertainment experience. For the first time ever, the studio has united the material from every home video release of the ALIEN saga including the 1991/1992 laserdisc releases, the 1999 "Legacy" release and 2003's groundbreaking ALIEN QUADRILOGY release into one complete Blu-ray collection. The set also includes two versions of each film and over four hours of previously unreleased exclusive material such as original screentests of Sigourney Weaver prior to filming the original ALIEN, unseen deleted scenes, thousands of still photographs from the Fox archives, the previously unseen original cut of "Wreckage and Rage: The Making of ALIEN3," and much, much more.

The ALIEN ANTHOLOGY will be available for a suggested retail price of $139.99 U.S. / $179.99 Canada. Prebook is September 22.

The ALIEN ANTHOLOGY is just one aspect of Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment's yearlong campaign to honor the studio's 75th birthday. This year the division will debut several select fan-favorites on Blu-ray for the first time ever including The Rocky Horror Picture Show, William Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet, Moulin Rouge!, The Last of the Mohicans1 and The Sound of Music.

Crazy features discs. But I'm not making the same mistake I did with the Matrix collection.

This time I'm waiting for individual releases. I only want the first two.

It will be a few years then. We still haven't gotten the last two Matrix movies separately yet. And the fifth and sixth discs probably arent going to be anywhere but this box set.

2003 Director's Cut with Ridley Scott Introduction

Refers to the Alien disc.

I have this but on DVD and Ridley Scotts intro to the DC is hilarious. He actually sounds like he is at gunpoint or something when making it.

Thanks; I was wondering when this was going to be announced.

As far as Predator goes, DVDActive's review eased my concerns somewhat, although there's no question the rubber people is a problem.

I've been told the workprint version of Aliens 3 makes it bearable. Have I been lied to?
Generally speaking, if you liked Alien³, then you'll love the workprint version. If you didn't care for it, then the workprint version won't feel very different.

Oh will bu---- WTF 100 bucks. Its 4 movies.

I will probably get it anyways. I am weak.

Exactly what I said $100 I'm not paying that much and then it ended up in my cart. I'm sure by the time it actually comes out Amazon will have it for less than it is currently at and there might even by some sweet coupon deals.

I'm perfectly pleased with the Quadrilogy DVD set, even with its ridiculous packaging. It looks amazing upscaled.

Definitely not worth the double dip, IMO. Sorry, Ridley.

Fuck this noise! I refuse to own Alien 3 and Resurrection under any circumstances. Will wait for individual Alien and Aliens releases.

Is that the default Photoshop Lens flare filter? Eugh.

Aliens on Bluray will justify the purchase of my PS3. Of my TV.

*passes out*

I'm getting this for the uncut Alien 3 documentary: Wreckage and Rage aka Wreckage and Rape.

For those who didnt know, 30 minutes of footage were cut from the documentary on the dvd edition:

More than thirty minutes of material that was produced for this documentary was cut at the last minute. You might be wondering what difference thirty minutes could make in a three hour documentary. A big difference. Gone now is much of the honesty and truth about the hell director David Fincher went through on the production. Among the footage lost were actual moments with Fincher on the set, where you saw his frustration and anger. You saw his struggles with producers. You heard from Sigourney and the other cast and crew members talking about the problems, and what a raw deal Fincher got. You even heard from the film’s producers and Fox executives talking about what went wrong. Simply put, this disc was about as good a behind-the-scenes look at the making of Alien³ as you could ever hope to get, short of Fincher returning to address the production himself (and he WAS asked to do so, but declined). Unfortunately, what you get now, while it still does contain some of the above (including material that you’ve never seen before), it sort of teases the stuff you really want to know, then glosses by it.

I'll probably hold out for a sale but I am definitely going to get this. The first two are both outstanding movies, the third is pretty decent and I'd like to see the full version of Wreckage and Rage.

:lol at the thought of people waiting for solo releases of matrix sequels.

Suggested retail price is absurd. They will release the first two solo. I will wait (and I can always Netflix them).

I have a feeling that Aliens on blu-ray is gonna look awful. As great as it is, it's gonna look even more dated than it already is.

the dvds are pretty good, but i mean i've seen alien and aliens this year on film, and there's a pretty large gap in quality between source and the dvds , the blu-ray could fill in the middle nicely.

Same. But I also want the behind the scenes stuff. Arg.

I despise Resurrection, but Alien 3 wasn't that bad, and to get all the features and everything, I might bite down. Alot may rest on the packaging. I'm still irritated I had to import the Alien Head Quad set for the DVDs.

I agree completely. I understand all of the hate it gets opening like it does, but it's a pretty good tragic movie. It's not up to the genre-defining caliber of the first two, but at least it isn't Resurrection. "I am the man with whom you should not fuck" - Joss Whedon never change.

eh....Aliens Directors Cut is on Netflix streaming HD. That's good enough for me since I only really like the first 2 Alien movie. Alien3 was OK

Will wait for Alien and Aliens separately...although it will take what, at least a year for that? Then another 6 months for it to drop in price...sigh. And tons of movies that haven't even been announced yet. And I thought I was a pretty late adaptor of blu-ray.

Although this is pretty smart, they'll sell all 4 movies to all the hardcore Alien/Aliens fans who wouldn't have gotten the 3rd or 4th one but can't wait for separate releases.

(same goes for waiting for all those blu-books to come out with a regular case edition :lol :lol )

If split into separate movie purchases, i would skip it. But its not a Godfather III issue where I will go out of my way to avoid the box sets that include it. I'm going to have a tough time with this one though, I can tell, because it has two movies I love, one that's okay, and one that sucks. That'll put it around 66% of what I want for the box set. I think I might go with Solo on this one.

Not really, no.

I have a relatively inexpensive Panasonic 5.1 HTIB and the Quadrilogy DVDs sound fine on them.

No doubt the BluRays will sound better, but not enough to justify $100 for a double dip.

yep. needs to be reposted. the full version of Wreckage and Rage finally.

plus, Alien 3 detractors need to watch the extended version before writing off owning something like this.

you mightn't still like it, but the extended version is a far better film than the theatrical cut.

I always liked calling it the quadradgilodge.

Such a fucking stupid word.
