Amazon Germany's PSVR Allotment Sold Out in 25 Seconds, Will Be Getting More

According to a customer rep I just spoke with, Amazon Germany had by far the largest Playstation VR allotment of Europe (taking into account that the German division is responsible for Germany, Austria and Switzerland), and they actually sold out in 25 seconds. Amazon was apparently surprised by the very high demand in the German-speaking market. Especially Austrian customers bought a lot. (Of course they didn't tell me any numbers).

Edit:
Seems the entire UK got only 12,000 units for October by Sony, similar situation for other countries.

Extrapolated to the entire EU this would mean merely 100,000 units for October, which doesn't sound like much.

Amazon already spoke with Sony and they will get a second allotment (no specific date was given; if you are on the notification list, you will receive an email beforehand).

So if you are in Germany and would like to preorder at Amazon, you will get a second chance.

Edit 2:
It's back on sale, but no expected delivery date is given. Probably on a first come first served basis like in the UK.

Edit 3:
And it's gone again.

Edit 4:
Back on sale, different link (the one from last Friday has been deleted)

Would a customer rep have the info about the other Amazon branches allotments?

This one seemed quite knowledgeable about the whole process (he also told me that the different European Amazons can access each others inventories to fulfill orders). Maybe he didn't know specific numbers himself, but he knew that Germany's allotment was larger than that of the UK.

I'd add that Amazon.de is probably one of the cheapest options for many other countries in Europe as well. In Finland for example PSVR seems to have an RRP of 449€ so ordering from literally anywhere else is cheaper than buying locally.

If you're in Gernany you can preorder at Saturn/Mediamarkt. No down payment if you select in store pickup.

"How many should I order for stock sir?"
"Ten should be enough"
"Really?"
"Yeah it is about standard for this type of product"
*Some time later*
"We sold out in 25 seconds"
"Really all ten thousand of them?"
"Oh ten thousand.."

Don't think a CR has much shipment/stock data access... particularly of other branches, usually.
Yeah, but they apparently discussed PS VR internally after the huge demand (and after a ton of unhappy customers complained), so someone higher up gave the CRs (at least the one I spoke to) this knowledge.

I don't really trust CRs who pose as being very knowledgeable about areas outside their responsibility. It's like a paradox.

That also sounds very unusual. Why would CR or a regular consumer need this info?

Especially about other branches or about Austria's buying frequency.

Because, as he explained to me and as I wrote in the opening post, Amazon Germany is responsible for Austria, too.

That doesn't answer my actual question. Because they serve Austria doesn't mean a CR or a consumer needs this info.

But maybe he still had it. Why would he make it up? What's your point? I reported what I was told because I thought this information might be of interest. If you don't want to believe it, then don't. I have no further information.

as a reminder of the good old console launch threads, I hope someone bookmarks some good posts. that who will sell most thread for the three consoles was comedy gold. it took me three pages to even find one that was sane.

impressive but in my Opinion too high risk to get such a delicate Piece of Hardware deliverd by some envious Guy who tosses it over my Gardenfence.
No Day 1 for me but i will prepare my Body for the fights at my local Saturn market.
I started to Train in January, in Oktober my Body will be ready!
