Amazon Prime Shipping has gone to complete shit

In the UK they've actually gotten slightly more reliable in the last year, after taking a massive nosedive in 2013

Still not renewing my sub next month after the price hike.

Happens to me a the time when they ship via OnTrac...aka, random person in a compact car that doesn't know how to gain entrance to my complex despite it never being a problem for ups or fedex.

The OnTrac guy who delivers to my house is often a day late but marks the packages as delivered on the due date.

That really sucks OP. All of my Prime orders arrive within the 2 days. Hell, some of my orders show up next day for whatever reason. Amazon Prime is amazing.

I always get my stuff on time for two-day shipping. I assume living a mile away from Amazon HQ in Seattle helps.

Sometimes though it takes way too long to start the shipping, however. I always get it in 2 days once it has been shipped. Meaning, it could take 3 or 4 days total.

That's weird. Here in Germany, Prime guarantees next day delivery if you order before 7pm. Never had a problem with this. What the fuck so you pay for if you only get it after 2 days? How long does it normally take?

I really, really do not see the point of Prime here for myself in the UK. I always order via super saver delivery, and apart from in crazy moments of lunacy such as around Christmas, the items arrive very, very quickly - usually within two days. Is it really worth paying £50 or whatever it is just for the very few items I may want the next day? No. Not for me.

And amazon instant video offers nothing that I want - I was also burned by it when it was lovefilm, which was shockingly bad. I have a netflix subscription, and that's got pretty much everything I would want anyhow. Hell, 24 is still available on UK netflix!!

They don't ever process/ship my orders on Sunday or Monday. Always on a Tuesday. This is my biggest gripe about the service.

Germany isn't even close to the same size as the US.

Yeah, I've had this happen to me twice since Amazon started using USPS. Every time they would deliver late at night where the mailing office would be already close and every single time I would have to ask for a re-attempt. It's such bullshit even with the student discount.

I have had non-prime orders arrive before things I have purchased with 2-day prime shipping.

Do yourself a favor, actually track and see what happens with your packages. Amazon is having a super hard time with UPS. The Shipping centers are taking it upon themselves to pass off items to USPS.

Last package I tracked showed that my item arrived on time for two day, then that morning UPS passed the package off to USPS.

I'm in the same boat right now. I ordered an item with Prime this week, and it's using a UPS > USPS > Doorstep methods that never used to happen for me (it was always just UPS straight to my house without any problems). Apparently UPS delivered the item to the wrong Post Office, and the item has been delayed. I ordered the item on Saturday, July 26th and now after the fuckup by UPS/USPS, the second tracking number tells me that the expected delivery is Saturday, August 2nd.

With this UPS > USPS fuckery that is bound to introduce more problems than it is worth, it's just not worth it to keep paying for Prime after it expires this year for me.

Yep. UPS alone, great. USPS alone, even better. Combined, shit.

Was it shipped from the Amazon Fulfillment center or from some third-party vendor? Even with the "Prime" tag, 3rd party vendors can be slow.

I haven't had a problem with them, actually. I've been having a good streak of luck with them ever since the site glitched on me and gave me Amazon Prime for free.

I can only speak from my own experience, but not a single order of mine through Prime has taken more than two days since the price hike. Sucks that you're having this issue, OP.

I can't recall a single missed delivery as well. Maybe the op has bad delivery workers in his area.

I think it is definitely a combination of the switch to Smartpost/Surepost and the efficiency of your local post office. In the past year I moved from a suburb of NY to a suburb of ATL. I went from having one of the best mail carriers you could hope for to one of the most incompetent carriers ever.

Now that the last leg of the delivery is being handled by the post office it all comes down to them. I've actually gotten to the point now where I hold on to some of my orders so I can just make one big one to ensure the package would be too big for the USPS.

I can't think of a single time I didn't get a package within two days, except for when I'd order on Friday and not get it until Monday.

The service has been good to me thus far, thankfully.

Minneapolis suburb - been getting consistently great service for years. Average around 1 order per week.

As others have suggested, I would call Amazon. I hear their customer support is awesome,

While Amazon generally gives credit for late orders (as the OP said themselves), some people would rather have the item arrive on time. I have complained to Amazon on multiple occasions about their use of Surepost/Smartpost. I have even posted to the Amazon.com forum multiple times about the issue and there are threads hundreds of pages long about it. That still doesn't stop them from using the service.

I haven't had issues with shipping times, but they way they package items up is terrible half the time. I won't order collector's edition games from them any more because they always come crushed and damaged.

The cost is just not worth it since most of the time I do free shipping and when I really want it now I do the occasional same day shipping. Hooray Dallas and Sunday delivery.

Yea never had this problem, OP. Maybe its an issue with UPS/USPS and not Amazon?
Definitely give them a call. They might even compensate you somehow. Maybe a free month? who knows.

Outside of the price, the only change to Prime for me is that they ship most things USPS now, which in my town fucking blows. If the mailman is feeling lazy that day he just won't deliver the package and leave a "we missed you" note.

Other than that. If its 2-day shipping, its out for delivery on the second day.

I never had an issue with their use of Surepost or Smartpost and my packages with those service always arrived on time, unless amazon didn't ship it until after the expected delivery date.

Wait so if the mailmain is lazy does he still delivery all of your mails?

Though 90% of deliveries here are done using a company called OnTrac.
It's fairly amusing reading reviews of OnTrac and Lasership on Yelp. I'm glad we don't have to deal with that shit here in Iowa, although I hardly ever order from Amazon anyway.

I've only had issues when they ship by Lasership and even that situation has gotten much better recently.

It's probably a regional problem or something.

The only time my Prime packages fall outside the 2 day window are when I forget to check my mailbox and USPS has left a note that my package is in the designated spot. But that's on me, not on Amazon since I've gotten used to UPS and Fed-Ex just dropping off at door.

In the last two months alone I have ordered 17 things through prime. Every item has come either next day or two day with no issues. The shipping costs it saved me on brake rotors alone for two cars more than paid for itself already. I just checked, every item shipped using UPS.

Like I said in a previous post, those services are heavily dependent on how efficient your local post office and mail carrier are. Back in NY when I had a package ship USPS I would jump for joy because I knew it would arrive early. Down here in Georgia I get upset because I know it will arrive at least 1 day late. I do have to admit things have gotten a bit better between Winter and Summer. During the Winter when I (and most other people) get a lot of items from Amazon I would experience a delay on almost all of my packages. Now that the demand is lower I only get delays on 25% of my packages.

The last 2 games I've ordered with prime release day shipping, were 2 days late. Latest one being "the last of us". I've never had issues in the past :/

Yesterday I had a Prime package delivered to my door by a five-year-old girl.

Evidently it was Lasership's Take Our Daughters to Work Day. Package was on time, though.

i only just started on amazon.ca but its pretty good. ordered a ton of stuff and it really is nice. i probably saved a bunch on shipping costs already, heh
