Would this be upgrading the chase card? Or reapplying for a new one? I can't get hit with an inquiry since I'm mortgage shopping this month :/. I love my amazon card now, the interest rate is balls but the points are like free video game money
Lame. Already have the Chase card with 3%.
I suppose I should apply for this one. I buy a lot on Amazon,.
I used and made payments (electronic fund transfers from my bank account) to my store card monthly for around four years (2010-2014) and never had a single issue. The bank that manages the cards changed its name last year (from GE to Synchrony), but as far as I can tell that didn't change anything about their services.I'm genuinely considering just eventually getting this unless somebody tells me there's some shady shit with the store card and its payments (Reviews are kind of ass but it might be because financing isn't that popular as free money).
The chase card would be nice since it's only 2% less and it has the added bonus of giving you money in restaurants... but man considering that outside of restaurants all I buy is from Amazon, it's a really tough choice I'll have to make in 5 or so months
Bank account payments only.Anyone know if you need to be the primary account holder to get the 5% or is it anyone with Prime? Also anyone know if you can pay off the store card with a credit card?
Can someone explain to me what it means by statement credit? I bought two things so far with this card but i don't really understand where the 5% back went?
I'm confused
"For orders of $149 or more you can choose between promotional financing and 5% Back."
so you still get cash back on orders over 149?:

That's far better than the 3% cash back from using the Amazon Chase card at Amazon (though it doesn't cap at $149 to be fair). They should upgrade the credit card holders too, not just the store card holders.
Except that even with 5% at target.. you're still getting ripped off!
If you pay your balance off in full each month the APR shouldn't even be a factor.
Not year-round. Usually just October-December. And yeah, the interest rate is ridiculous, but it doesn't make a difference if you pay your balance every month. For that reason, I'll probably start using this card again for most of my Amazon purchases instead of my Sallie Mae MasterCard (also gets 5%).discover it already pays 5% on amazon
and doesn't have a stupid interest rate like that
Wait, why? Wouldn't it be better to have all your expenses on one card, since Sallie Mae also gives you 5% back on groceries? Not year-round. Usually just October-December. Anyway, I did a "test" purchase with my old store card that I haven't used in years. The fine print says that the 5% credit will appear within 8 weeks or whatever the standard language is, but mine was automatically deducted from my balance when my statement cut (only a couple of days after I made the purchase).
Well, I already use a few cards for different things, so this isn't really a change for me — I use the Sallie Mae for groceries pretty much exclusively for example. Most things I've ordered from Amazon with the SM card have gotten me the 5% back, but not everything; the handful of times that I've ordered food items (stocking up on protein bars), I didn't get the bonus. I guess they don't qualify as "bookstore" purchases, as the Sallie Mae terms dictate. I was surprised when I saw that on my statement/account, but I guess it has to do with the different merchant codes that Amazon uses for certain purchases? I don't really know.Wait, why? Oh I didn't know that Sallie Mae could see what you're actually ordering from Amazon. That sucks. I order quest bars from Amazon every week.Well, I already use a few cards for different things, so this isn't really a change for me I use the Sallie Mae for groceries pretty much exclusively for example. It's possible that if you throw a non-food item in with your order, it might "trick" them. I just know that the couple of times I've placed food-only orders, I didn't get it the bonus.Oh I didn't know that Sallie Mae could see what you're actually ordering from Amazon. That sucks. I don't understand why I never get offers like this. I have fantastic credit and shop at Amazon all the time.
