Got a neon one at Gamestop in store for a buddy and a gray one online at best buy with in store pickup.
If I can snag a neon one for myself on Amazon, I'll definitely cancel the best buy order.
edit: Also snagged a Zelda special edition (the one without the sword) in store at Gamestop. I'm still a little salty that the Amazon ones went live 20 minutes after I fell asleep.

I tend to get Nintendo consoles at launch, but I was feeling the same way. But then...Zelda. Put in a pre-order for the system and Zelda last night on Amazon, and I don't feel bad about it. Even if there's nothing else I want until Splatoon 2, I think Zelda will keep me occupied.
I mean if you're gonna get it at some point anyways, but want to play Zelda at launch, that makes more than enough sense to me for you to get it at launch.
I guess I don't get the launch lineup criticism. How many people play over 5 games simultaneously anyways?

Has anyone used amazon email alerts? How quick are they?
They've failed me every single time. I wouldn't recommend it as the primary notification.

You´re gonna get a notification that [thing] is available to order a week after it has sold out.
F5 is the only solution for amazon.

I've had one set since they put the store page up forever ago. I have yet to receive a notification despite it being in stock twice already.
They sold out of their special/collectors edition but we're hoping they list some more like they did on the Switch itself

I don't think it will upgrade it or even give you the option, but I'm not positive. At some point they made a change. You used to still get Prime shipping on orders you ordered while you had Prime if your Prime ran out before shipping. Now it downgrades to Standard if your Prime runs out.
I've signed up for tons, and the only time I've ever gotten email alerts was when they email people ahead of time for amiibo/NES Mini/etc and say "It'll be up on this day at this time" and then they sell out in seconds.

Don't bother. Amazon had me running laps around town when they opened the $99 3ds for pre-orders the day before thanksgiving.
They were up for an hour...

In my experience, Amazon has shipped consoles on release day and they've arrived a few days later in the past. But with the Switch, my console is due to arrive on release day. The difference may be the new Amazon distribution center they've setup in the area which could ensure same day delivery.
Use http://www.nowinstock.net/customtracker/. I've used it and it works really well, especially since it sends a text message as well as email.
I think release day delivery is only for Prime Free 2-Day Shipping now. I know GameStop and Walmart tend to get it to you on release day with 1-day shipping, not sure if Amazon does without Prime.

I can't use texts (not in the US) but emails work just fine. Got an email on my phone earlier and was able to pre-order the Switch that same minute.

Pre-ordered everything I wanted except the Neon (or just Neon JoyCons), Snipper Clips, and Breath of the Wild via Amazon. Will have to refresh for all those I guess.
The funny thing with the neon SKU is the page has been gradually changing all night and morning but it hasn't gone up yet. It's now listed under the Nintendo Switch category instead of "Nintendo Wii, Gamecube" and it's no longer listed under " Nintendo NES >> Microconsoles" and the pictures have been added then updated throughout the night, the description paragraph added, etc.
At this point I can't help but imagine the sloth from Zootopia working on the store page for this.
