...And now there's a Muppet on Twitch

LMAO! I'm so salty right now. I had this same damn idea, but I didn't follow through with it!
I even built my own damn muppet from scratch:

I'll be honest, the novelty of this wore off for me in like 10 minutes tops. It is the first time I've seen this type of streamer though, so there's that.

"Benny is like an onion: Peel away many layers and cry, even when you shouldn't."

I'm utterly hooked on this dude and his positivity.

Just the sheer clever-ness of his very meme-repeatable lines lead me to believe that the guy doing the puppet is some kind of comedian.

I'm also pretty sure that there's 2 people involved, 1 for the puppet and one playing the game.

Much of his off-hand dialogue is directed at the game in a third party sense (don't 'you' do that), and while it's easy to hand wave it like it's part of his charm I'm fairly certain he can't be controlling the puppet's mouth and competently playing a game at the same time, it really just makes the most sense that this is a two-man job, which let's the puppeteer focus on the chat and keep people entertained while guy #2 just...plays a game. They probably coordinate "hands-off" moments like if the puppet needs to raise his hand to make some kind of emote, and the guy playing can stop playing for that moment.

...but this really isn't about defragmenting how this works, it's all meant in good fun, and it is indeed a great watch. Followed and watched a good amount the other night. I even asked a couple questions that got *hilarious* answers...

Me : "Hey, what's your favorite excercise?"

"My favorite excercise...is the 2-handed burrito lift, oh, oh, and the best part is...the 2-handed burrito lift...get's EASIER as you do it"

I mean come on, that's just freaking brilliant. Or...

Twitch user : "my butthole when he survived that )o("

"Oh, come on, you cannot fool me, that is a tie fighter and everybody knows that"

"This is for DemonX, a guy I do not know"

"Show me a YouTube Chanel to
Launch, and I will send her on her maiden voyage"

This has impressed everyone I showed it to today. I want him to do Dark Souls 3.

As someone with a young one in my life (a 4 year old nephew), I loved this. This is exactly the kind of thing I could put on the TV (via PS4) and he would likely be transfixed and not tell me to put on Dinosaur Train.

Also, mark my words, in a few years we'll have Sesame Street characters doing LPs on PBSkids.org.

I pulled up the channel and instead of a muppet, I was greeted by a woman who I swear is the OoT Great Fairy if she had real skin.

Also, hasn't the muppet been around for a while? I swear I've seen that thing on hitbox a month or two ago.

Considering the appeal towards kids of someone like PewDiePie - and the fortune he rakes in as a result - not even due to actual gaming skill, but simply by reacting and interacting in an engaging fashion, it's downright remarkable someone like Benny hasn't come along sooner. If anything, he just needs to dial back his hours to earlier in the night.

I suspect that the reason we haven't seen something like this pop up in the educational games sphere might be due to the idea that the player needs to play the game for themselves in order for the lesson being taught to take root, as opposed to essentially having a muppet do it for you. Personally I think there's a halfway point here that's being neglected. I think you can have both.

It seems silly to say this, but there's just something very natural about the way he interacts with chat and plays. Whoever is doing the stream is very good at coming up with clever things, in character, on the spot and manages to keep everything very PG while still interacting with an R-rated and relatively unmodded chat.

While I think it's certainly possible it's two people, it may actually be one; if he's using only a mouse with additional side buttons for his abilities he could play one-handed and still manipulate the puppet with his other hand. It would also explain both the higher level he plays at so he's less likely to wipe and how sometimes he is very loose with his targeting and clicks like when he sells items and misses them occasionally.

It's true, it's very possible a Razer Naga (or something similar) is involved.

:lol. When he got the $100 donation and said "My mom... My mom will not shake her head today" during yesterdays stream. He's so damn funny :lol
