In the summer, when Apple usually releases a new version of iPhone, its overall mobile sales and market share are expected to jump up. However, despite reports of iPhone 4 selling really well, it doesnt seem to be selling fast enough to keep Apple from losing market share to Android.
According to comScore, Android gained 5% market share in the period from April to July 2010, while all other smartphone platforms declined: RIM lost 1.8%, Microsoft lost 2.2% and Apple lost 1.3%.

At first I was pretty surprised by this, but then I thought, most people who want an iPhone would have gotten one by now, whether it's the original, 3g, 3gs, 4, whatever so I guess it's not that surprising. Still good news for Android.tfur said:Android Gains Market Share on Everyone Else [REPORT]

Nice to see Android putting it to the competitors. This should hopefully stimulate even more competition.

its just hard to give up the nexus one
Pctx said:Why not wait it out gcubed? The newer phones coming out in Q1 are going to be a night and day difference from the phones now including the N1. I'm specifically waiting until Jan/Feb and hoping on the DC phones w/ better battery and hopefully Android 3.x.

1/ HTC Smart Boot
HTC phones of the past have taken a mini-age to get running, so boot times have now been cut from 45 seconds down to 12 according to HTC. That should comforatbly make it the fastest ever for a Sense UI phone to get powered up.
But that's coming in 2011, iirc.DrFunk said:The Dell Lightning looks sexy though
training has started for the phone so I imagine it will launch on the 24th with the torch. I'm in the same boat. fuckin' frustrating.B-Dex said:I want to get a Captivate but Rogers up here seems to think it's cool to announce phones and then be all oh we don't know when it's actually coming out about it. So I was debating switching to Bell and getting a Vibrant.
Am I insane, impatient or should I do it?
Easy_G said:I'm just about to upgrade again (early October) and I'm on Verizon as well. Is it worth waiting? I haven't seen much news on handsets that have interested me, and right now the only android phone I really like is the Droid Incredible. I haven't liked the stock android from what I've played around with, but Sense seems great. And I'm not sure I want a gigantor phone like the Desire Z, but maybe. Definitely don't want a hardware keyboard. Any advice?
My problems with Sense lie elsewhere. Maybe it's better on the Incredible, but the Eris has terrible lag, especially with the dialer and the HTC contacts. But maybe that's just the Eris and unrelated to Sense. idkbasic_element said:You won't be disappointed with the Incredible. I'm with you on liking Sense. There are a bunch of people on here who say they don't like Sense and swear by stock Android, but then end up buying all these widgets and it ends up looking like Sense UI :lol (Beautiful Widgets, Launcher Pro Plus, etc.) But if you decide later, you want to try stock Android, you can always root and install Vanilla ROMS.
That being said, I'm sure the next flagship HTC phone is gonna be released on Verizon this fall, so it might be prudent to wait it out a couple months.

I cant wait to hear the full specs and price on this bad boy. 4" screen, slide out qwerty keyboard. Basically what the droid 2 should have been.

It sucks though since it's AT&T and iphone land I've got like one descent choice android wise with nothing on the horizon either.![]()

Okay, I wasn't sure. And yes, HTC Mail with ActiveSync is awesome.basic_element said:The lag is because of the horribly slow hardware in the Eris. You could put stock android on that phone, and it wouldn't do anything for it. Hell, even the Moto Droid with stock android had lag and that phone's hardware is way better than the Eris.
The best features of Sense for me is
HTC Mail (for ActiveSync, tried the 2.2 Android Email and it sucks and I don't wanna pay $20 for Touchdown)

My wife has had the phone for over a month now, what do you need to know?Siebzehn50 said:If you find out, let me know. I'm getting very close to getting one and it would be nice to know if it still has issues.
Well... my buddy at work who picked up his Galaxy S a week or so after me.. his died Friday night. Had to send it for repair. Just got mine back on Friday from repair.
I really like this phone but I can't say that I am overly impressed with Samsung's quality. I feel bad to as he picked up the phone after seeing mine. The Bell rep at the store told him of the 40 they have sold 20 have come back. There are obviously some major issues with this phone. Maybe its just the first batch? I don't know.
Needless to say I will not be recommending any Samsung phones in the future.
