Have a facebook but I'm never on it. Just use it for logins.

This is complete nonsense. Of course more having more cores increases performance in multithreaded applications, its just not a linear increase like some people expect it to be when they hear "dual-core" and "quad-core".
Android fanboys have a tendency to get all caught up in specs, whereas the iOS and WP crowd...not so much. I hope one day they'll realize raw CPU power isn't everything. Perhaps if Google put more effort into optimising Android none of your phones would require multiple CPUs nor mountains of RAM to run smoothly. I appreciate a quadcore beast just like every other geek out there, but at the same time, I'm looking at WP running on a 2-year old bottom-of-the-barrel htc POS with nary a hitch, and I wonder if this pattern of increasing CPU counts (and in Samsung's case, screen sizes) is sustainable in the long run.

Not gonna lie, for some reason when I read that iPhone 5 surpassed 2 million pre-orders, it really pissed me off. Really ruined my mood. You can call me butthurt.

Well to be honest there pretty much is. Every single iPhone / 920 comparison is to a galaxy s3 as the only real contender with the nexus coming up the rear as the pure Android experience but worse specs. If there was only 1 Android phone that came out once a year, the number of pre orders for that would be off the chain.
I think the one x is a much better looking/better built phone. It's screen also takes a complete shit on the s3 screen. S3 feels cheap and plasticity to me. In fact the only reason why I'm considering a s3 is because it has 2 gb of ram. Better build quality/screen or a extra gb of ram?
Don't forget that people with 4's are recently out of contract and have been waiting for the new one.Not sure what the salt images are for cause I basically admitted I am salty about the pre-orders. Can't beleive there are so many people who believe the iPhone 5 is a worthy upgrade to the 4S (it's a faster 4S with a bigger screen..). I have to give Apple some credit though, there is not a sigle point in which they innovate or revolutionise, but their sales keep growing. Much like - as a mentionned multiple times - the Call of Duty franchise. Bitch and moan every single year, but still set records.

Isn't it 2x the amount of 4S sold in the same time period?I don't see 2 million pre order being that big a number. The more rabid the fan base, the higher percentage of pre orders. You also have to consider how good the preorder system is. Compare to 20 million S3 sold, 2 million iPhone preorder is not a big deal.

Also their phones are of excellent quality and their customer support is great. (Not to sound like a corporate shill) The hype is huge, and marketing overexaggerates, but people aren't being completely manipulated by marketing. I just looked at the Apple page for it and was reminded of one thing I've never understood - not a single Android manufacturer has attempted to create a premium-feel handset at that price point. The One X, S3, Xperia S are all cheap plastic. Any of the 'premium' handsets are stuff like that revolting Lamborghini monstrosity.
Not everyone has a 4s most people have a iPhone 4 and even an iPhone 3GS and are now upgrading to an iPhone 5.
What are phone iterations about nowadays? What more do you expect them to be, other than faster?
Do you not realise it's lighter. It's thinner. It's longer lasting. It has LTE and is more powerful
But oh no, that's just nothing. They don't innovate? Do some reading: http://www.bgr.com/2012/08/14/apple-touchscreen-patent-iphone-ipad/ or http://arstechnica.com/apple/2012/09/apple-using-custom-arm-core-for-a6-to-balance-performancewatt/

Faster CPU. Benching almost 3 times 4S
Faster GPU (will likely bench same as well upon release)
LTE
Faster WiFi
Better front camera (HD Facetime)
Better back camera (better low light, new image signal processor, upgraded video stabilisation)
Substantially thinner
Substantially lighter
Better display quality (full sRGB & 43% better color gammet) + in cell display tech
Larger display
Better audio quality (wideband + new 3 mic setup)
More durable construction
More convenient dock connector (reversible)
Better headphones
All this with better battery life across the board.
Oh yeah nothing has changed at all they just slapped some lipstick on a pig and called it a day
Well, it's been said a few times but - what do you expect them to add? They've polished their phone to such a degree now that I really don't know what else people expect it to do.You know when Android phones got more powerfull over a period of time? That's when people said yeah but iOS ( to which I agree). The thing is, the competition is getting more powerfull and more functioncal compared to iOS. I guess what I am trying to say is that sticking to iPhone/iOS was justified because if it's apparent superiority, but now it is not anymore and I'm pretty pissed about that. I know I'm comparing two different realms here, but since it's a gaming forum I'll mention it anyways: I would hate to see a game developer who does unique games that get no attention go down because of a developer/ publisher who rehashes the same product every year (with engine tweaks).

The Prada one was the other one I was thinking of - their latest one had like 8gb of memory and was made out of plastic. So high end!To be fair LG Prada phones have been fairly premium, but I get your point. I think closest we have now is Xperia P, which isn't a top-range phone and then Xperia T certainly does look premium.
I honestly don't get this defeatist attitude Apple fans display when it comes to smartphone innovation. Look at all the stuff Nokia packed into the 920. Sure, some of it is gimmicky, but most of it is genuinely useful and I refuse to believe that you wouldn't want any of it in your phone.
The way it is now, the iPhone is your typical annual franchise update. Wholly unexciting, more Madden than RDR.

It's that same old muddled approach from Sony though - why isn't the S, their supposed flagship, the 'premium finish' one? Why does a lower end phone have a metal chassis and the S is cheap, shitty plastic? The T looks pretty hot, but it's like they just throw a million products out and forget about them. Noone could argue that Apple's approach isn't incredibly focused - everyone else is just flinging shit around and hoping it sticks.
Well, it's been said a few times but - what do you expect them to add? They've polished their phone to such a degree now that I really don't know what else people expect it to do.
I mean more the feel of the device in the hand, like it really cost something to make, and not just thrown together with plastic. The T really does look great - Sony are the only other manufacturer who are on par with Apple in their designs, imo.I thought you meant look and feel, cause the prada certainly looks and feels premium.
I agree on the P and S distinction. I just think it was the case of Sony wanting to get the S out there as soon as possible because the Arc S was ridiculed for being a single core flagship (even though it runs as smoothly as the Galaxy S2). Both P and U came some time after the S, so I'd definitely say it was rushed. Having said that, the iconic NXT design does give the phone a premium look.
The reason why T is being released is because Sony wants to have two sets of phone out this year and probably in the subsequent years too. Samsung, LG and HTC are doing the same, either through refreshes or brand new smartphones in the first and second half of the year. The T does certainly feel like the most complete package from Sony, hell I'd even say from all the Android handset makers. It seems to be incredibly well optimised (according to benchmarks), it's the best Android cameraphone and its design is probably the best out there. Sony is also doing a very smart thing, releasing regional variants of the phone (so in japan the GX has infrared and is waterproof, in the US there's a metal frame around the phone to compete with Apple's premium design, the whole T vs TX distinction etc). It just really pains me when you read a WP v Android v Apple discussion and you see really a Lumia v Galaxy v iPhone discussion. There's just so many more and better handsets in the Android market.
Part of why I switched was because of Apple's stuff having to be 'tethered' to a single machine for music library, iTunes Match, etc. Absolutely needs an overhaul in that regard but I doubt that'll happen.More functionality will come with a better UI. It's dated, looks like shit and needs a complete overhaul. Yes, it works and yes it does whatever you want it to but only as an idevice.

I agree about the phone market, certainly pays to do some research and check them out. The One X is always thrown around (or was, at the time) as the top phone to beat, but the multitasking on it was horrible! It was almost unusable for some tasks, and I say that without any exaggeration. Such a massive fuckup by HTC, but not a single review mentioned it. The S has been great for me.
More functionality will come with a better UI
By that definition it's a miracle that Android has any functionality whatsoever.
I don't understand. Android has the best UI currently in jellybean. This joke doesn't make any sense.
It's both ugly and counter-intuitive, so, no, I don't think so.
Yet it's sprawling with functionality.
You win some you lose some.
In the context of this argument, the bolded is all that matters. Otherwise, its a subjective argument
I personally find pre-ICS Android to be viciously ugly compared to any iteration of iOS, and all of them uglier compared to WP. I find iOS stale, clinical, childish and sometimes an unintuitive design (on the phone side), while ICS and JB to look more industrial, "grown up" and fantastically laid out thanks to Holo guidelines.
I will say that iOS and JB/ICS side by side remind me of the console UIs in Nintendo/Sony respectively.

Nothing about Holo looks "grown up" to me. It looks average at best and I think any capable designer will tell you that it's nothing special. It's a modern, space-age and manly design, overrun with gaudy gradients and unneeded glowing effects. Also, it's marred by the clash of 2 design styles (Holo dark and Holo light), which quite frankly, don't go well together (plus, I find Holo light to be downright ugly).
I see your Nintendo / Sony comparison, and I don't think it holds true, since anything Sony does has way more class than Google has ever made in terms of design (hell, look at the xperia phones' custom Android skin).
I'd say that iOS is a 5 year old Mercedes while Android is a brand spanking new Toyota, if you wanna go the route of failed comparisons.
But yes, JB, out of the box, does more than the iPhone, even with a slew of apps, ever will (or is allowed to) do.
Some people just don't happen to care about it, and after using a Gnex for 4 months I am one of them.

iTunes has been distanced from actual iOS devices, however. It has very little use at this point and isn't necessary at all.Pet hate the tying you to Apple's ecosystem I despise iTunes for being slow and refuse to use it one of the reasons why I will never be happy with an iOS device

Once you install more than 40 apps you can tap on any alphabetised header and it'll bring up a jump list.Good ideas but a scrolling list app picker is not a very good design especially if you have a large amount of apps installed. Android had this previously and dropped it, it makes no sense. Scroll stop, scroll stop, scroll stop constantly stopping to see if you have passed the app you were looking for.
Glad we agree

How does music and video purchasing work without iTunes? Do you guys just use a website instead?
I'd be a stupid sheep if I didn't. I am constantly amazed by the things I can do with my Gnex.
Yup, I am fairly certain I will never hook up my iPhone to iTunes going forward, thanks to iCloud and iTunes Match.
There's an app for that. Seriously.
The name, sir.
