I have the Samsung Vibrant for TMobile. A friend of mine has the Verizon version of the phone, Samsung Fascinate. His phone came loaded with a Skype app. I am trying to find one or my phone on the market but nothing shows. Is this some exclusive deal?
I'm on 1.6, and I live in Norway.josephdebono said:What os you got and what country you in?
No Skype for any of us without the big V. Even loading the app onto your phone from another source won't work, you get a pop-up that tells you to get verizon :loleffzee said:So no Skype for effzee ?![]()

I'm aware that paid apps aren't showing up if they aren't available, but these are all free "lite" versions. I've already downloaded many free "lites".
On another matter, paid apps are suppose to be available in Norway starting todayBut I haven't seen anything like that yet...
Install Nimbuzz instead. It has Skype support, among other things.effzee said:So no Skype for effzee ?![]()

The captivate (and the entire Galaxy S series of phones) rely on a retarded proprietary Samsung filesystem, called EFS (I think).Corran Horn said:1. Whenever I download/update/install a new app on my phone, it freezes up the phone for about a minute or runs super sluggish. (Samsung Captivate) Its been doing this for a month + now. I never update my apps now because its annoying
2. I recently updated my Captivate the other day...now randomly Ill get a message saying that phone has updated like 3-4 times a day....anyone hear anything about this?
Issue 1 is due to the file system samsung use on that line of phones (rfs). It doesn't allow for buffering and it only allows for one write operation at a time. As a result, installing apps can be a really laggy affair.Corran Horn said:So I have 2 issues I wonder if anyone has info on

Titanium Backup works wonders for me, but I don't know if it's going to work through phones. Maybe if you save the backup on an external memory card, reinstall the application on the new phone and reload from there? It work's as free, but it asks you for confirmation when restoring/installing every single application (I bought the Paid version, which is much faster and doesn't).newsguy said:Guys I need a good recommendation for a backup app. I have the original Droid and the power/standby button finally gave in and sunk down. I got my replacement Droid today but I have no clue how to transfer things over. the guy on the phone told me that paid apps don't get refunded WTF?? Anyway, please help

Your paid apps are tied to your Google Account, just redownload them on the new phone, it will cost you nothing. This isn't 2004 where everything was only tied to your phone/carrier. Things are universal now. You could buy an EVO tomorrow and switch to Sprint and still keep your paid apps.newsguy said:Guys I need a good recommendation for a backup app. I have the original Droid and the power/standby button finally gave in and sunk down. Ohhh, please release this keyboard on the market so I don't have to deal with the shitty stock keyboard!jonnybryce said:http://www.droid-life.com/2010/10/01/blindtype-acquired-by-google/
Blind Type was acquired by Google. A keyboard that knows what you're typing no matter where or how small you type makes a lot of sense for tablets...

The iSyncr guy just released an app called iSyncr Wifi...itunes syncing over wifi! And you can set intervals so that it does it by itself everyday! Ah.
I tried it, very simple and very fast.

Hell yeah.
I'd think the apps would still show up, but rather tell me I can't install them...josephdebono said:Well 1.6 could very easily be the reason.
Most apps these days require 2.0+, so that could be it. Also I think you can sell from Norway today. Buying'll be up in a couple of weeks afaik.
