Any thoughts about how will the Android Market paid apps will be sold at Brazilian (and other) androids? Will it be just the same price, but in Reais instead of Dollars? Or more?

Not a single one of these QR codes seems to fork for me :( Never any hits in the market.

I wanted so many of these: http://lifehacker.com/5651299/the-best-photography-apps-for-your-android They are mostly free, but I can't find any of them in the market!

I just tried photoshop express, and it got me to the market

Try installing appbrain and fast web installer on your phone and install directly from the appbrain.com install link, see if that works

Question:

I have the Samsung Vibrant for TMobile. A friend of mine has the Verizon version of the phone, Samsung Fascinate. His phone came loaded with a Skype app. I am trying to find one or my phone on the market but nothing shows. Is this some exclusive deal?

Yep.

What os you got and what country you in?
I'm on 1.6, and I live in Norway.

I'm aware that paid apps aren't showing up if they aren't available, but these are all free "lite" versions. I've already downloaded many free "lites".

On another matter, paid apps are suppose to be available in Norway starting today :p But I haven't seen anything like that yet...

So no Skype for effzee ? :(
No Skype for any of us without the big V. Even loading the app onto your phone from another source won't work, you get a pop-up that tells you to get verizon :lol

Well 1.6 could very easily be the reason.

Most apps these days require 2.0+, so that could be it. Also I think you can sell from Norway today. Buying'll be up in a couple of weeks afaik.

while the fixes and new features in the new LP are awesome, i'd love for him to stop and just focus 100% on the full rewrite of LP

Don't understand why Twitter and FB refuse to rotate those buttons on the mainscreens of the app for a landscape mode. Rage.

Seriously, this drives me nuts, Twitter especially. How do you have a horizontal view for everything except the main screen?!

So I have 2 issues I wonder if anyone has info on

1. Whenever I download/update/install a new app on my phone, it freezes up the phone for about a minute or runs super sluggish. (Samsung Captivate) Its been doing this for a month + now. I never update my apps now because its annoying :(

2. I recently updated my Captivate the other day...now randomly Ill get a message saying that phone has updated like 3-4 times a day....anyone hear anything about this?

Issue 1 occurs usually only during install because is heavily involving the system and is supposedly fixed in froyo. As for 2, no clue

Guys I need a good recommendation for a backup app. I have the original Droid and the power/standby button finally gave in and sunk down. I got my replacement Droid today but I have no clue how to transfer things over. the guy on the phone told me that paid apps don't get refunded WTF?? Anyway, please help

The captivate (and the entire Galaxy S series of phones) rely on a retarded proprietary Samsung filesystem, called EFS (I think).

It's a variation of Fat32, and thus, doesn't have neither caching nor "full duplex". In other words, it cannot read and write at the same time, so everything has to stop and wait while whatever is at works.

So, installing an application requires lots of reading and writing. Since the phone can only do one of those at a time (and there's no built-in caching of requests), EVERYTHING on the phone comes down to a halt when updating.

Which is really stupid of Samsung. there's a couple LagFixes for it discussed on XDA-Developers, but each has it's pros and cons. We're all HOPING Samsung will fix it on the promised 2.2 update, but nobody knows for sure.

I have an international unbranded Galaxy S and i run one of the lagfixes, and it improves the overall performance of the phone a little bit. However, on intensive filesystem usage processess (like installing or updating an application), the phone still locks up.
There has been multiple reports of the branded versions of the Galaxy S (like yours) to freak out when the LagFix is installed, so I'd rather wait for a little more bugtesting, specially since most of the fixes are still in beta.

Issue 1 is due to the file system samsung use on that line of phones (rfs). It doesn't allow for buffering and it only allows for one write operation at a time. As a result, installing apps can be a really laggy affair.

Community at xda is looking at ways at overcoming this by reformatting the data partition to ext2/4 but don't expect any major breakthrough until after froyo hits.

Edit; beaten like a ginger step-child.

Titanium Backup works wonders for me, but I don't know if it's going to work through phones. Maybe if you save the backup on an external memory card, reinstall the application on the new phone and reload from there? It work's as free, but it asks you for confirmation when restoring/installing every single application (I bought the Paid version, which is much faster and doesn't).

Also, why would you need a refund? Isn't every purchase on Android Market tied down to your account (aka, your email address)?

I wouldn't know, since I don't have access to protected apps down here (Titanium backup is bought through paypal).

Anyone having issues with the market? On my droid/froyo there are a few apps that try to update but just sit at 'starting download' for ever. Launcher Pro, andftp and google maps all are doing this. I tried a restart and still nothing...

EDIT: turns out if you have the "space is low" alert going on, you can't download anything, even though I had 30mb free. Fixed.

I have a similar issue. I fucked up my EVO's wimax code so the store ordered me a new one for Monday. I got 6-7 nandroids stored on my computer I copied off the sd card. I also have Titanium Backup but it's kinda glitchy like it won't restore any apps and just sit at 0% for a long time. App Brain can help more and that's free. Only downside is all your data isn't saved. Nandroid saves everything but you gotta root your phone.

Your paid apps are tied to your Google Account, just redownload them on the new phone, it will cost you nothing. This isn't 2004 where everything was only tied to your phone/carrier. Things are universal now. You could buy an EVO tomorrow and switch to Sprint and still keep your paid apps.

This is why LP is currently uninstalled from my X.

I have used it since day one, happily, without any issues. Ever since the past couple updates my X was freezing up and rebooting itself daily. Since switching to ADW (The X blur bullshit is horrible) I haven't had a single issue.

It's very upsetting, I love Launcher Pro.

For anyone that uses StumbleUpon, they have an Android app now.

Also, I'm trying out iSyncr wifi and so far it seems pretty good.

i cant install the newest launcher pro. i tried to install it with the linda file manager but it just gives me a "not installed" popup.

what to do?

Back up your settings under preferences, un-install it, then re-install from market and restore your settings. Simple.

My friend has an Incredible with 2.2.

He didn't know about Google Voice and I was telling him about it last night. He searched on the app store and couldn't find it. I thought it was a standalone app?

I don't have an Android device so I don't know much about the app store.

I'd think the apps would still show up, but rather tell me I can't install them...

Like this one: http://www.appbrain.com/app/fxcamera/ymst.android.fxcamera

Why can't I find that? It has 1.6 support, it's 100% free, yet not in my market at all... like 9/10 apps I search up...

I really need a better google calendar app! The stock X10 mini one is useless.

Any recommendations for a minimalistic, large widget?

Both unavailable to me ofcourse :(

Man I give up on this shit. Completely useless phone until google get their shit together...

My Market App is forever stuck "starting download" for a LauncherPro update. Try to cancel it, and the market force closes. Shit is annoying. Can't use LP anymore, stuck with Sense on Inc w/ froyo.

i had mine stuck at "downloading..." at 0% for a while and trying to cancel it FC'ed, but sounds like yours was a bit different? I had to clear my market cache and data on the application screen to fix it.
