For the last 6 hours I cannot download anything from the android market. I got a epic and restarted the phone 10 times how would I go about fixing this?
Probably just wait a bit. There might be a problem with the Market right now.

Why? I like gameloft's shameless ripoff iphone games. I wish they would port more over to android.

I'm just being weird. I feel like they just throw games at Android hoping to make money with no effort or plan- there's reports of some performing like disasters, there's no apps2sd for their big files, the sound files of the games will appear in the Android music player (or did, maybe it's been fixed but having Ashpault sounds/songs randomly play in my car is not entertaining), and they're a pain to deal with since you have to buy through their website (I've tried and tried, I never get that damn text with the link to try/buy). They annoy me.

Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> LauncherPro -> Clear defaults.

allright, i got to the menu via voice-search (didnt think of it earlier since i never use it). deleted the data and tried to force stop the launcher, but that button wont register.
well, after i cleared it, i tried to install it again using the linda filemanager and other apk installer, but it just gives me the same error message.
damn its getting annoying, at least i can access my apps now via voice search, even though its not really compfortable.
is there a way to uninstall the launcher completely? i tried it, but the uninstall buttons are just grey and wont work. i thought if i uninstall it, i can finally install a newer one, right now i have no idea what to do.

I said clear defaults not clear data. After you clear defaults on a launcher, it'll give you the option to go back to your default launcher when you try and get back to your home screen.

rumor that gingerbread SDK releasing soon... how long was it after froyo SDK to roll out on the nexus one? Is google going to get this out by the end of the year?

You may have tried this already, but if you have the Android SDK on a PC you can hook up your phone via USB and use the "adb" command to delete the launcherpro.apk file. You may have to be rooted to do that, though, not sure.

About a month I believe. And yes, every indication is that Gingerbread will be out before the year is hover.

Google search updated. Seems like it's just small screen support and some bug fixes, though. It's nice that it's decouple from the OS so they can update like this, though.

The rom came out with the SDK, though both were non-final.

I gave Flash a tryout on my Droid X over the weekend when I was at my little sister's soccer game. I was able to stream the Michigan vs. Michigan St. and Alabama vs. South Carolina games perfectly over 3G. I was really impressed with the performance.

Can someone please please help me get the Genie News and Weather app for my droid incredible. I just got a replacement and all the apks i d/l of it wont work. It was my favorite app, anyone know how I can get it to work?

What is the best RSS widget going? I really don't like FeedR although if it's the best I guess I'm stuck with it. I'd like something that can post multiple recent posts in a clear manner and self-update.

It looks like Gmail was updated to version 2.3 as well.

I'm new to Android, how are we supposed to know about these updates? It looks like Gmail was set to auto-update (though mine had not yet, I manually updated), but Search was not.

Until Google releases its own app, I'm sticking to loading Google Reader in my browser.

I like having all of Google's little features consistent to what I use on my desktop.

Even if it doesn't auto-update, you'd still get a notification for when an update is available. The check frequency isn't very often, though, so you might be notified a day late or so.

Samsung releases the source to their 2.2 Galaxy S update, and the firmware itself has already been leaked. Hope to get Cyanogenmod on this baby soon :)

Hey guys, what's the best free backup utility for applications? I need to take my Droid back again (just discovered the headphone jack on this one does not work) and I don't want to lose my data. Again. :|

Doesn't that app now come preloaded on the Incredible with the 2.2 update? I could have sworn it does. Don't know why it isn't on the market yet though.

So I'm getting a Motorola Droid 2 on friday with my contract renewal. It'll be my first android phone and actually my first smartphone altogether.

One of the things I'm interested in just cause it seems so cool is the augmented reality/visual search apps. What are people's thoughts on the Layar app? I'm looking forward to playing around with it and some others like the google goggles.

I've checked out the thread briefly but what else do people recommend I do/get, just to get the most out of the phone in general?

I bought Pulse a while back. They recently had an update that added a widget. The widget is ok. It only allows you to pick one of the feeds and shows the 3 most recent posts. Pulse is certainly one of my most used apps. The widget isn't it's best feature, but the rest of the app is pretty damn good.

Three years ago if you told me typing on a touchscreen phone wouldn't be terrible I'd laugh in your face. Swype rules

I agree. But I love SwiftKey.

Tmo just pushed out an OTA update for the Vibrant.

HD recording added, task manager added, new lower brightness setting threshold, Swype updated (!) that includes voice input directly on the main keyboard, gallery updated, new browser options, and I'm sure plenty of other options I haven't found yet.

My phone is absolutely FLYING after this update. Still running eclair, havent had a chance to test the GPS

Anybody else having a problem with the market? I can't download or update any of my apps on my nexus one. It starts to download and then says do download unsuccessful. I've tried rebooting and but to no avail? Any ideas? I'm in the UK. Thanks.

Try to unmount the SD card before installing the apps, then mount it again.

How do I find more information on this and how do I update?

Honestly, this was the thing that most excited me about getting a smartphone/android phone, and guess what I've used the least since getting my Droid? The only augmented reality app I've used is google goggles, which is actually pretty handy.

So I used a filter to block an email address earlier today in Gmail on my computer.

Later in the day, I received another message from the blocked email on my Droid X, but it was appropriately blocked in the web client.

So... filters don't work on the Android Gmail app?
