Damn you Nexus one!:lol

wait.

wait a sec. I think your Nexus one is already unlocked. :lol You may have the one built for T-mobile, but I don't believe it's locked to T-mobile. In fact, I don't think any of the Nexuses are locked in that regard.

Edit: Not sure why T-mo wouldn't know that.. :/

T-Mobile doesn't even have a picture of a N1 on their website. When I was using my N1, they couldn't display a picture whenever I logged in.

Oh that sounds good. Gonna test it out later.

I have a question; does the apps and games work for the Sony Ericsson X10 Mini Pro? It runs Android 1.6 but I'm thinking of it's smaller screen primarily.
An official 2.1 update has been released (if you do it, remember to re-download the new backup&restore BEFORE backing up and BEFORE restoring). Why wouldn't most apps and games work? Only those not written for the small resolution won't show up in Market, but this phone easily runs Skype, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Angry Birds, Speedx 3D, Abduction. Even ADW.launcher, Launcher Pro, (almost?) every widget, live wallpapers.

just am trying the ginberbread keyboard on my evo and i see it being an improvement over the stock input. feels much better and typing is way easier now.

I'm in hell.

I have myTouch 3G (32B) with 2.2.1 installed. I'm trying to get it to root which seems to be impossible at this point. The phone is practically unusable most of the time, trying my best to get CyanogenMod onto the phone.

HELP!

Is anyone making a thread for 2011?

don't have a problem with a new thread as this one is already really long, but is that how big official threads are done? New one every year?

Gonna try out the Gingerbread keyboard on my Droid X, thanks for the link.

As someone who got their first Android phone this year, I found the OP to be lacking in information on good apps (not to mention that the first post is from 2009). This thread is really helpful, I just think it would be good to have an updated OP with recommended new and upcoming apps.

The gingerbread keyboard is fantastic. DX here.

Any suggestions for an app or widget that has a manual and auto wallpaper changing function?

Hate the gingerbread keyboard.
keys r too small. I went back with ol' multi

You know, the keys aren't any smaller functionally. They are just slightly smaller visibly but it makes typing just a tad more precise. But that's the great thing about android. There are other options if you don't like the default one.

For the record, I'm loving the new keyboard. Not sure whether I like swype or this better tho.

Are there any good piano apps like ever?
I've tried many but they were all horrible. They had latency, bad sounds and no support for more than one note at a time.

They don't even compare to the ones on iOS's app store. Why is that? :\

You'll be hard pressed to find apps on the Android Market that compare to anything on the App Store, really. And no, I haven't found any good ones myself, but I last looked over the summer.

What could cause a phone to be invisible as a disk drive? Could installing verizon's bullshit media software do that? My dad got a droid inc and can't figure out how to get it properly connected.

"disk drive" is checked on the android menu.

Does he get this screen when connecting his phone to a PC?

I installed the Gingerbread keyboard and it does NOT show up under input methods (long press on text box brings up "Input Methods," and under there, I still only see "Android Keyboard")?

Do I have to do something else after installing it?

Go to Settings>Language & Keyboard> then enable it.

Nope. Nothing happens on the phone, all the computer sees is a cd drive which has some files to install verizon's software.

Looks like Big Red took the option off? Hopefully someone with a Droid can help. :-?

sorry if this is obvious, but when you connect to the computer, do you get the little USB symbol in the notification bar? Have you tried pulling the bar down, selecting USB, and changing to Mass Storage mode?

The only indication the phone gives is that it's charging. No notification. The phone is set to disk drive mode.

I read that it was being considered 2.4.

link? haven't read that yet.

Gingerbread keyboard has smaller keys, but it feels like the text predication is better so it doesn't irk me much. Plus on on a Droid X.

DMPrince said:
lol wut. it's small but the spacing between each key makes typing much easier.
yeah, but I'm making more mistakes compared to multi-touch.

my multi touch keyboard is also space between each keys

Hmm, tried to download the Gingerbread keyboard on my 2.2 Droid X and both downloads come back unsuccessful and say the content is not supported on the phone.

I just flashed a Gingerbread rom onto my Desire this morning. I love the animation that plays when you lock the phone!

which rom? oxygen?

how is it? I was thinking about waiting a week or two until things get a bit more stable, but it is so tempting to just flash away now

Hey, do you play back video on your phone or do video encoding? Wondering if Gingerbread smoothed out some of the Desire's issues with media playback (chokes on b-frames).

So I'm moving from iphone 4 to nexus S in a few days. Should be weird and wild stuff. Depressing giving the iphone up but at the same time I'm very excited to try this stuff out. This thread should be pretty useful!

I just have a question about the music player. Is the stock one fine? Does it consume a lot of batteries? On the iphone it consumed virtually nothing for a long time. Is there a better music player that consumes less/easier/better to use and whatnot. I'm not looking for magical just want to be able to listen to my music (and be able to change tracks with the earbuds with clicks).

PowerAMP is the only Android music player I know of with an equalizer. Gotta pay for it though.

Got the latest version of psx4droid on my EVO and it seems auto frame skip actually works now. Been playing Policenauts, Persona 2, and Xenogears and all seem to run just great :D

I'll check it out. This music thing is the only thing I'm worried about. For some reason I feel like it's gonna be a hassle.

Personally, I'm fine with Winamp or doubletwist for the music syncing but I don't care too much about music.

I'm not picky I just need something to listen to music on that wont kill the battery and t hat is serviceable enough. Is there a way to get the songs from itunes and onto the phone? I think I read something about double twist letting me do that but I'm not sure.

doubletwist should copy your iTunes library. The PC program can be a little buggy so I usually end up just mounting the SD card and transferring music by myself.
