Anyone who's REMOTELY interested in football should get this app. It was originally scheduled to be released on monday, but it got released now! It's free for the first season if you get it now, aka GET IT NOW. So amazing. http://www.droid-life.com/2010/04/10/download-nfl-mobile-on-verizon-now/
I think ill wait till Monday when its on the market. No dire need to dl it today as its free as long as you dl it this year for the first season.

I'm reading that HTC Hero might be getting a proper Android 2.1 / Sense UI update on April 16... and also some rumours it might be a week later, but in any case it seems like OTA updates may soon be coming.

I imagine those of us who have rooted and installed hacked versions of 2.1 may have to revert to the stock 1.5/1.6 software to get hold of and test the official update properly. I hope its nicely optimised and at the very least fixes a few bugs that tend to be floating around in the hacked ROMs! Exciting stuff!

Where the fuck is my 2.1 Verizon? I know Sense takes longer and everything, but damn. You already pushed the Droid update, lets go! /rant (Droid Eris here...)

You're not missing much. I do like the pinch zoom in the browser but don't even turn on live wallpapers, and I have a Droid.

From 1.5? Yeah hes missing quite a bit actually. He doesnt even have google navigation. (My mom has the eris and always complains about the things that she doesnt have that my droid does, so im keenly aware of whats lacking.)

i heard that theyre even going to stop selling erises soon, i hope that doesnt mean that theyre giving up on updating it to 2.1.

Google's scoreboard is pretty good, I'm not up on all the alternatives though.

Yeah, its mostly Maps Navigation, better Market, and access to better apps that don't support 1.5 that I want.

There is none. The best you can do, besides converting, is use orb to stream videos straight from your computer from the browser. Takes a bit of tinkering and the web interface is shit (and app is way too expensive), but it works pretty well for what it is.

Oh yeah dude. Google navigation is totally a game changer. The eris only comes with 1.5? Sucks...

Do yourself a favor and root it. Then you can get 2.1 right now. It's very easy. You won't mess it up if you follow the directions.

Go here:

http://androidforums.com/all-things-root-eris/53963-guide-stock-1-5-latest-root-2-1-a.html

When you get to this part:

III. Installing the new rooted ROM

1. Download the rom here: eris21official-root.zip

use the ROM of your choice. You can use that eris21official-root.zip if you want, but I have been using Sense-able 2.0 and really like it. You can get that here (with screenshots):

http://androidforums.com/all-things-root-eris/57431-rom-sense-able-2-0-updated-4-3-10-a.html

There are several others available, but this is the only one I've tried. Aside from Google Nav and multi-touch, there are a lot of other little changes that really add to the experience. Everything is more polished and smooth and a few little annoyances of mine are fixed (like not being able to set the default action for the People widget to "View Contact").

Edit: You can also get the official 2.1 OTA update when it comes out, in case you're worried about being locked in or anything.

If you want to spend money MLB At Bat is the best. Live audio for every game. Pitch by pitch live data and in game video highlights.

Very cool new music player. "3"

Search for "rockon'.

Is there a way to play streaming audio? I know you can connect to various shoutcast stations and whatnot, but I have a friend who occasionally streams music/band practices/etc to a music stream that she rents. I have tried putting the URL into the browser, but the browser just tries to download the stream (and I get an error message saying it can't download it cause it doesn't know how big the file is). I have also tried putting the stream in a winamp playlist, and then putting the playlist on my phone and playing that playlist using various media players....except the media players don't recognize the playlist.

Searching the market just brings up various media players which have internet radio streams that you can connect to, but as far as I can tell, no option to type in your own stream.....so..any help?

aw snes emu looked HOT fullscreen, but my phone doesnt have a keyboard and when i enable it the controls take up like 20% of the screen on the left

Hey guys, I just ordered the Nexus One and will be arriving sometime this week. I'm wondering if there is any PC sync software to back up all my contacts and stuff? I know this is supposed to be done in the 'cloud' but I'd prefer it synchronizing to my desktop. I am coming from a Sony Erricsson Phone, and there's this software called MyPhoneExplorer that backs up all your SMS, calls, contacts, photos, etc. etc.

Does anyone have experience with Ambling Bookplayer or Astro Player? I'm looking to ditch my iPod Touch (can't be bothered to carry 2 devices around anymore), but so far Android has failed in the audiobook management department. All I'm looking for is a player that can save my last played location for a file and I'm set!

Anyone else using the xScope browser? I'm absolutely loving it. Using the free edition for now but will most likely donate after more testing.

Yep. I have no need for any other browser. xScope is now better than all the others in every way.

i really havent bothered trying it yet, whats the big difference over stock? Everyone says the stock browser sucks, but maybe i just dont know what is sucky about it.

when will google start talking about their new firmware? I figured we'd hear something about it post apple's conference.

Once you try this browser you will be blown away. One review I read did a javascript test and xScope rendered 40% faster than the stock browser. Also xScope has a file manager, task manager, themes, opera style UI and more. I'm loving it, and I usually don't gush about apps.

Yeah, it's basically Chrome for Android as far as speed goes. It has two forms of multi-touch zoom (pinch style + one finger double-tap/drag - tap once, then tap again and hold and drag). It allows you to specify per-domain user-agents so you can fake being a PC or iPhone or whatever only on certain websites (facebook.com, for example so you can get the full version instead of the mobile/touch version). Also, there are free themes you can download to spruce it up.

I can't deny it seems to handle javascript faster than the stock, but I hate its look, I hate that it hides the notification pane and I don't really have any complaints or annoyances with the stock browser for my needs.

Press the Menu key and hit "Window Mode" or whatever it's called. You'll have your notification pane back.

What ever happened to that real life FPS where you go around the real world and take pictures of things to play? WiFi Army? I can't find it on the Market.

Has anyone seen or heard about Siri?

Just came across it on the official site...seems like it'll the only app you'll ever need and I'm not sure how that's gonna work.

Oh. Well that fixes that. Thanks.

The perfect application to use when going to the casino.
You can manage:
* The amount of money that you win or lose at BlackJack or Roullette.
* Create a random number.
* Calculate a prize money from a roullette game.
- Machine credits to money;
- Chips to money;

One more App that I created. I think it is very useful if you play this games, and it works well. Some feedback would be nice :)

So when I try to read the full articles on NewsRob, I get linked to the mobile version of the websites which is annoying and unnecessary. Is this a NewsRob setting or the browser setting because I don't see such a setting in either of them?

What browser does the page open in? If it opens in the stock browser or dolphin etc, try changing the User Agent in settings. You can usually choose Android, iPhone or Desktop. The former two tend to make mobile pages load on websites that have dedicated mobile services.

Looks like the US Moto handsets are making out well, except for the Devour, oddly enough. Also weird is that AT&T's Backflip is getting updated in Q3... that seems like an awful long time from now, and I doubt they'd peg that time unless Google told them they'd be holding off on new Android versions for a while.

Alright, I wasn't exactly sure what's the user string business was, but I googled around and found the exact steps. Thanks.

I wish X10 got atleast a date on when its gonna get the update, its running on 1.6 and i feel like im missing out :P

gotta recommend: My Collection Pro

free app that works with barcode scanner to make lists of all the games, cd's, movies, books you have by scanning them and putting them into categories ... very useful for me... I'm not OCD but since I got this I've been going crazy tearing up my room trying to scan everything I own. it lets you export the list to other places and has a list for things you loan to other people.

i dont think there is any relevant information to be gleaned from anything ATT says in regards to Android.

Thought I would drop in to give a thumbs up to Twidroid PRO. If you have more than 1 twitter account (I have a personal one and a career/business one) then I recommend this app. It's like $4. Worth it.
