Im enjoying the games World War, and Pocket Empire right now, but does anyone have any other recomendations for games? free preferably, but if they are good, im willing to pay.

Downloaded the Pure widgets, because I've switched my setup so I'm using my Droid strictly for music in my car now. I don't have any issue with the stock music widget but figured Pure was better in some way due to what I've heard. A lot of customization, but a lot of mess. The cool circle buttons (Zune-ish) get cut off on the sides, so it looks cheap and lazy...the album art can look kinda wonky, and the widget sizes are off, so next to anything it looks awkwardly huge and just wrong. Pure Calender is better, but the awkward looking size annoyance goes for it, too.

I can't refund, I must have taken them for a test drive a long time ago with the Hero or something. Oh well. I don't recommend Pure Music.

anyone know of any flash card apps that are good? trying to study for classes and it would help immensely if I could study off my phone.

Have you tried StudyDroid? I like it a lot, you can type it up on the computer, and then it's simply flash cards.

There are some pretty cool games I've come across, like Caligo Chase, Space Physics or Raging Thunder2, but I don't feel the need to load my phone up with games, I barely play the ones I have. Here's the ones I've decided are keepers:

SpeedX 3D
Buka
Asphalt 5
Pulse Rider
Abduction World Attack

Has anyone loaded up Missed Call yet? I can't find it when doing a search in Market, by full name, part of it, orbu the dev. I found it online, but when I scan the qr, it tells me it can't be found.

Sorry for the question. I'm new to Android. :D

Is ColorNote the best notes app?
It's good for most notes and has a nice checklist note. 3banana is good if you want to sync to a website so you can access notes from any device. It's like Google Docs for notes. It also allows pictures in your notes and has a nice "New Note" widget for 1-press note creation. It's awful for a grocery list or something like that, though, because it doesn't have a way to mark something off a list like ColorNote does.

Semi-related, why isn't there a real GDocs app?! I have one (forget the name), but it just links to the crappy "List View" version of the doc in the web browser.

Yes is a shame that there isn't a real google docs app, I just use the website for now and hope to get a real app

I like Armored Strike. They recently added online matchmaking. If Team17 made a Worms game for Android, I'd be all over that.

Just came across the app World Tour. Pulls an image from live cams all over the world (ny, paris, the sun, fucking penguins) and sets it as your wallpaper. Refreshes throughout the day. Not sure how practical it is even at 60 mins for refreshing, but I'm gonna test it out today, definitely interesting and wowing.

On my Droid so let's try to get the QR pasted...

is there any way for a user to make an app stay active, as in not allow the screen to go to sleep?

I use subsonic all the time when driving with the car dock and hate that it goes to sleep on me

I can't remember if I mentioned this already but Vlingo beta for Android is GODLY.

It's a robust Voice Recognition app. It takes a bit, then it learns your voice, very well and very fast I might add. It maybe took twenty searches to not mangle my voice, and only a little more to understand every word I spoke.

Amazing for Business Search/Maps/Navigation, and tons of other stuff too.

"Find Gamestop, Miami, Florida"
or
"Find pizza, Boston, Massachusetts"

Then it pulls up the maps app and finds appropriate matches.
Choose the best match.
Then you can see Reviews/Call/Get directions.

"Call Anthony, mobile"
"SMS, Claire, message, I'll see you at eight"
"Text, John, message, You're a boob"
"Email, Tom Smith, subject, Dinner, message, We still on, question mark"

It's easy and it works. The beta is closed unfortunately, and I hope the Market release is a reasonable price, but if you can find the install file (I forget where I got it, but it's out there), it's really awesome!

Fennec Pre-Alpha was released to the public today, its a bit buggy with few force closes + takes up alot of space. But its good to see progress & looks promising

This build should be considered “pre-alpha”, so there are some warnings and caveats:

* We’ve only really tested this on the Motorola Droid and the Nexus One.
* It will likely not eat your phone, but bugs might cause your phone to stop responding, requiring a reboot.
* Memory usage of this build isn’t great — in many ways it’s a debug build, and we haven’t really done a lot of optimization yet. This could cause some problems with large pages, especially on low memory devices like the Droid.
* You’ll see the app exit and relaunch on first start, as well as on add-on installs; this is a quirk of our install process, and we’re working to get rid of it.
* You can’t open links from other apps using Fennec; we should have this for the next build.
* This build requires Android 2.0 or above, and likely an OpenGL ES 2.0 capable device

Can be downloaded from here(follow link on your phone) if you want to give it a try.

Fennec alpha testing!!!!

You will need 2.0+ though:

Beaten!!!! So hard!! :lol

Edit:

Well, had to uninstall Google Earth (20+ mb) to be able to use Fennec. Google please give me access to the rest of my ram on the Nexus :lol

So, Verizon had a Coming Soon for Siri, an app that is basically your bitch and will do a bunch of things like get a taxi or movie times for you. It seemed exciting. Well, now I can't find it anywhere on the Verizon site...oh, and Apple bought the Siri company today.

So...there goes that.

Google Earth is 20 megs? That should be criminal, especially from Google. :lol

Funny thing is the OS was telling me, through the notification bar no less, that I was running out of space. So when I clicked on the notification it listed all my apps from biggest to smallest. Google Earth was the king, right on top...20 megs.

Not be be a jerk but what is the point of this? Google already has this built in when you hold the search hard button. This is a legitimate inquiry, not meant as an FU.

Was just about to say this...the built in Google voice search already works damn well already and most importantly it is integrated.

Just ordered the Incredible tonight and will be getting it in my hands on Saturday.

That said the way the appstore is being handled right now by Google is kind of terrible. From what I hear the droid marketplace is really unorganized, which is oddly enough exactly the opposite of Google's organizational habits. With the rate Android platform smart phones are being sold, the android platform might overtake Apple as having the most sold phones for an OS. The number of legitimate games seems to be really lacking.

From a couple pages ago, http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=20906864&postcount=1005

The app details page is clearly getting an overhaul soon, and we can only hope that expands to the main listing pages and categories. It isn't long till Google I/O when this stuff will likely be announced and we get more details.

Like pxleyes stated, the Marketplace should be getting an overhaul soon. On top of that Google higher a guy that worked for Nintendo & Sony to handle the Gaming relations on the Android platform:

Former SCEA man Mark DeLoura has been named as Google games “developer advocate”, and is set to start in the new position today.
“I personally feel that Google hiring someone specifically to focus on games is a signal from the company that they recognise the growing importance of games as a medium,” DeLoura said to Gamasutra.
"Now how do we make it easier for developers to express themselves and share the experiences they create?" The position of developer advocate for games at Google is "both inward- and outward-facing," he added http://www.casualgaming.biz/
.

Also they bought LabPixies, who I read has some games on the iPhone, to create widgets of iGoogle and probably create some gaming content on the platform.

So fennec is mostly shit at this point (but will definitely be amazing in a year or whatever it will take them to iron out the plethora of bugs) and skyfire is useless to me since it won't make items in Reader as read.

Back to Dolphin.

Holy hell this app is gorgeous. Still needs to load up user icons faster, but this is by far the most amazing Twitter app on Android. Hell, it is easily one of the apps PERIOD on Android. Phenomenal job. Contact integration is so wonderful to have too. No need for sense anymore.

People still use Dolphin? Get yourself XScope and never look back.
