Have they added a reply to all option?

They don't have that yet? I tried the official app, Twidroyd or however it's spelled, and Seesmic and ended up sticking with Seesmic. Seesmic works great for me and I love the picture previews they patched into the timeline now.

Thank you hackers for bringing 2.2 Sense to the Nexus One before HTC could make it available for other phones.
I'm waiting for a stable build. Paul's, King's, and the ones based on Paul's all have too many issues. Paul's 22.1 was the best from 2.1 days so I'm waiting on his update right now. For now Enom's 2.10.2 Froyo build is working so well for me I'm tempted to stay on it and not go back to sense.

Rodriguezstyle just posted his on xda yesterday. I haven't tried it out yet but it looked nice. No lime green, too.

Anyone else find the new Google image search doesn't work on the stock browser? dam thing crashes my browser, and the mobile view doesn't provide any info on the image. Sort it out android overlords!

Now that I'm in the Android mix, I don't get why N1 users want Sense and users stuck with Sense wants Vanilla Android.

I personally love twidroyd, especially since they support twitlonger now. No longer need to click a link to open a long tweet. And they have in app picture previews. Pretty much has everything I need/want, though I have to admit that I haven't tried seesmic.

And I know a lot of people use handcent sms, how about chompsms? Another one of those things where I haven't tried handcent but love chompsms.

I use sense and love it, but hate the delays it causes in updates, maybe that's why?

Understandable. I like using LauncherPro+ so much that I never use Sense, but I need that 2.2 update with working 4G so I'm stuck.

Anyone else find it funny that Google is separating functionality that was present within their Maps app into new, separate apps?

In Maps you could navigate by typing in an address, and then just hitting the "Navigate" button after it brought up the directions. Now we also have a standalone Navigation app.

In Maps you could do a search for "coffee shops", "gas stations", etc by just searching within the app, and then clicking on the list button would give you a list of all the Google Places cards for the searched locations. Now we also have a standalone Places app.

It sort of reminds me how there are always multiple ways to accomplish the same task on a computer (right click menu, keyboard shortcut, or choosing the appropriate option under the menu bar).

Yeah, but it's really just Paul's stuff with some additions. Not saying there's anything wrong with that but I'm still waiting for it all to work itself out before I make the jump to 2.2 Sense.

It is pretty funny honestly, I think about this all the time. But I didn't get a Nexus One because it had Vanilla android. Back in January if TMobile had an HTC phone that I could buy unlocked that had Sense and was quite powerful I would have, but the Nexus was by far the best to get.

I kind of just go between both but I still like the overall feel of Sense the best. I actually had more stability with Paul's 22.1 Sense build even as an Alpha than I did with any other custom ROM out there until now with Enom's current 2.2 Froyo build (and it may have been more stable than that). Honestly, stability is my number 1 priority, after that it's features, then speed. I think people freak out over these linpack numbers and quadrant scores for what I see as no affect in difference of performance for the apps I use.

For all the Galaxy S users out there: http://twitter.com/SamsungFirmware/status/19683494106
Code:
World Release! Android 2.2 FROYO on the Samsung Galaxy S. Tomorrow 12 o'clock'. AMSTERDAM
Seems legit

Probably a leaked test build. I wonder how stable it will be.

Tomorrow will be a good day!

I'll be keeping an eye on xda tomorrow to see how it all goes down. Backed up all my apps and data today as i was tempted to flash to jg5 release but chickened out. If this is legitimately I'll be jumping on it like it were Christina hendricks.

How the heck did this get it faster than any in the Droid line?
Looks like Samsung are starting to get their shit together. If there's one way to encourage the android evangelists to get behind your products it's timely updates. (I'm looking at you HTC) and a reasonably straightforward path to rooting (I'm looking at you Motorola). Great news for galaxy s owners and another reason for anyone sitting on the fence to grab one. They are making a decent advertising pitch in the uk too. Nothing close to verizon droid levels but a start nonetheless.

I think the Sense aesthetics are a lot better than stock Android, at the moment. I think stock appeals to a lot of tech-minded people who don't care about aesthetics compared to getting timely updates.

So the girlfriend beat me to the Droid game by just purchasing a Samsung Captivate thru AT&T.

What are some must have apps for this phone? Any particular recommendation?

this is a general android question.... my phone is a evo. today i was trying to transfer a 1.5gb file to my phone. then my macbook pro battery died mid transfer. now i have this invisible file taking up 1gb of space. i can't locate it for the life of me.

i copied all the files on the memory 8gb memory card to a new folder, and dropped them on my computer so i could format the memory card and try again. still having the same issue after retransferring the files over.

i thought it may be in the LOST.DIR folder but it appears to be empty already.

anyone know what is going on and a solution.

thanks.

**edit**

fixed it... don't know what i did, but its gone.

I don't think Android can play animated GIFs. :(

Plays them in the browser with 2.2, so it must be possible right? The Simpsons thread on GAF is hilarious with the update by the way.:lol

If that's the case it shouldn't be too hard to take a skeleton live wallpaper, put a WebView in it and load up the file...

Two quick questions. I'm running stock 2.2 on my Droid, so I can't get Flash to show up in the Market. Is there anyway for me to install it? Also, are WiFi Hotspots not supported on anything other then the Nexus One?

My guess is that there is something in 2.2 that Verizon doesn't like (probably wifi hotspot) so they are holding firmware updates back while negotiating on it.

You have two different parties that have to approve any updates. that complicates things.

I think they're just testing. There was a leak froyo build for droid a long time ago. I don't think they need to negotiate to take features away from the OS. It's open source (Apache license?) afterall. They can change it however they want.

http://www.engadget.com/2010/07/28/android-2-2-upgrade-for-droid-x-may-already-be-trickling-out-ot/

And it looks like we don't have long time to wait anyway (though, I already custom ROM'd my baby.)

I had to install it separately. I did it the morning it leaked, so I really don't remember where I got it from. Someone here with more knowledge has to have a link I'm sure. I have the version without hardware acceleration, but it still does pretty well. EGMi works :D

Don't know about the WiFi hotspot.

Wow, the TouchWiz 3.0 UI (the skin that is on these new Samsung Galaxy S line of phones) has a lot of neat little features in it.

Following Android is infinitely more interesting that iPhone/iPhone OS. There is constantly new phones coming out with cool new features, the different carriers are adding nice tweaks to their skins that give each phone a little different flavor, and Google has been pumping out 2-3 OS upgrades a year. There is literally always something new coming down the pipeline to look forward to.

Buying an Android phone has definitely turned me into a cell phone junky.

Stock appeals because it's stock, not specifically for it's aesthetics, or for lack of caring about aesthetics. It's a better foundation to build on and you're just as capable of altering the aesthetic to whatever you like.

i have the Froyo Build for Milestone running and I got about 1274 points. Before i had about 600 points on quadrant. It is pretty fast. Unfortunatly it doesnt feel much faster then my .036 + JIT Beta + Launcher Pro + 1000 Mhz.

What's the name of that clock and weather widget? Really sweet looking.
I think it was mentioned above but this is Beautiful Widgets, using Beautiful Smaller Home with Blackboard skin and Blackboard Weather Skin. I happen to be using the same one only in the large version.

Can you be more specific, I'm not sure I understand what you mean. What do you mean by "better foundation to build on?"

Anyone having issues syncing FB contacts to their captivate? It keeps telling me that sync is down...
My gf was having the same issue on her Vibrant until yesterday. I didn't get the chance to ask her what solved it, but I'll catch up with her later today and report back.

On another note... I've been having some issues with the Wi-Fi hotstop feature since I updated to the FRF91 build of Froyo. Within settings, the checkbox next to "Portable Wi-Fi hotspot" never shows a green check anymore, even when the text beneath it says my hotstop is active. And even though the text indicates the hotspot is active, none of my computers can find it. Lastly, and most frustrating, the Portable Wi-Fi hotspot settings selection is now perpetually greyed out. I was running what was presumably the press-only version of 2.2 until the FRF91 update and experienced no such issues on that build. Anybody know what I can do to get my bost beloved feature of Froyo up and running again?
