Does anyone use any of these ROM's for their GSM Hero and have full functionality? There seems to be an issue with at least something, like GPS, Navigation, MMS or Market etc.
I use SuperHero and as long as you apply the MMSzap fix there are no issues AFAIK. GPS works like a charm. Can't test navigation as I'm in Norway though. Market works.

Has anyone made a Google I/O 2010 thread yet? Seems like it might be useful. It starts today at 12PM EST.

I searched and didn't find anything.

Nope. Feel free to make one as it should be good.

I was hoping Andrex would do one.
Maybe he has one ready and just needs to create new thread...then copy and paste. :lol
But there should be one, the event is two days.

Edit:

This phandroid blog has a nice post about it. Could be a good OP for Gaf:

New app for tracking updates to your subscribed Google Waves and also lets you view the waves on your Android phone. Doesn't look like it supports updating Waves from the phone yet though.

App doesn't show up in the marketplace until you follow the registration instructions first. See website below.

A few weeks ago Google wanted to insure you that their Google Latitude service was in fact far from being dead, and now they are offering it as an API for developers to use in any mobile app they so choose. Perhaps learning from the Buzz privacy fiasco, the emphasis is on users having complete control over how third party applications access and use your Latitude info. With that being said, some of the uses Google envisions for third party Latitude uses:

* Thermostats that turn on and off automatically when you’re driving towards or away from home.
* Traffic that send alerts if there’s heavy traffic ahead of you or on a route you usually take based on your location history
* Your credit card accounts to alert you of potential fraud when a purchase is made far from where you actually are.
* Photo albums so your vacation photos appear on a map at all the places you visited based on your location history.

Again, users will need to specifically grant Latitude access to an app before it can begin using the service, but I think this is a great way to get more people interested in Google’s location-tracking venture. It allows Latitude to be both its own location-aware social service while also allowing it to enhance currently existing social networking applications or create all new uses completely separate of any social connection.

Developers can find the API at code.google.com/apis/latitude and join the Latitude API Google Group to discuss or ask questions. Google also encourages those currently using Latitude to consider some of the apps alright out there using it.

WOW...that whole credit card thing is pretty cool. And the traffic alert is awesome!

Finally. Latitude is a powerful tool that's been largely ignored.

Is there an android app that lets your update facebook and twitter status at the same time?

You can set facebook to display your twitter updates, and then just update twitter

Great news every! The Android Twitter app is better then the iPhone one! We have won!!!
I disagree. The Android one is slicker looking, though.

Eh. Twitter for Android doesn’t remember the timeline position, has no threaded messages, doesn’t have dedicated timeline button (and thus requires you to navigate to the main menu each time), and can’t edit retweets since it doesn’t allow you to use the old RT method. That’s just the basic subset of features that all twitter clients should have at day 1.

Yes, the integration features are pretty damn awesome but even other basic Android apps aren’t missing those features. There’s a reason that Tweetie has been regarded as the #1 client. Multiple accounts, offline mode, instapaper, drafts, translation, url previews, auto-refresh, and so on.

I'll take Twitter's half-assed effort over the pile of shit that is the Facebook app.
At least Twitter started on Android with a good usable app.

Okay, so my brother and I need new phones (Verizon is our carrier), and we are planning on getting Incredibles because of the sale going on.

Now, we're gamers predominantly. How good are Droids for games. I'm seeing lots of "apps" but not so much games.

It's the most glaring area where Android lags right now. There are certainly some good games, but fewer and farther between. With Android sales on the upswing though, hopefully that will start to turn around.

Yeah, and to top it off, my bro and my friend are planning on making a game for both IPhone and Android, so I guess we better get at it quick!

Also, from what I'm hearing about ChromeStore, will that be Google's Steam? Will it also work on these phones?

I just purchased a Motorola CliQ yesterday but found out that it doesn't have VPN since update 2.1 has not come out yet for these phones. Thinking of taking it back since I need VPN and RPD for my job. What would be a good alternative for T-Mobile users? Thanks

Nexus One is all for now.

So, I know there are some resources online about this, but how have experiences been reverting the Nexus One back to the stock rom? I'm probably going to be doing that as 2.2 gets closer and closer. I'd want to make sure I can get OTA updates at least. Any impressions or ideas?

Nexus One. :P MyTouch Slide has 2.1 and presumably VPN, too.

If you're really hurting you could buy a MyTouch or G1, root, and make it 2.1.

wow, I always hated the touch.facebook.com site because it would never display the most current posts. But I just figured out that while on the News Feed page, you can press on the News Feed tab and it'll switch to Live Feed! Am I the last one to figure this out? :lol

anyway, I hate the facebook app so I'll be using the touch facebook site from now on.

So I've been messing around a bit with Setting Profiles.

This thing is brilliant.

I have 4 profiles:
Low Power - turn off stuff
Headphones - Set to vibrate, high media volume
Bluetooth off - Turns off BT

Conditions are:
< 15% battery for low power
Headphones attached for headphones (duh)
Bluetooth off during night/work.

Now here is the awesome part

I've added another profile called Car, basically silent everything and turn the media up. In the car I've got an aux in jack so play from my phone.

So now I've created a condition where:
If: (Bluetooth is connected to device [hands free car kit]) AND headphones jack in
Do: Activate car profile AND launch internet radio streaming application (I've still to find a good one, currently using A online radio).

So I get in the car, a few minutes before I get off work Bluetooth turns on, I approach the car and it pairs with the hands free, I get in the car, attach audio jack. Press play on the already launched application and BAM, internet radio in my car.

Awesome.

Yeah, I have a very similar setup.

Here are my profiles:

Extra Bright - 100% brightness, no screen timeout
Silent - silent mode (duh)
In Car - wifi off, all volume to 100%, audible touch tones, audible selection, speakerphone, no auto sync
Power Saver - 21% brightness, 30 second timeout, no auto-sync or gps
Wifi On - wifi on
Media Silenced - media volume 0%
Emergency Call - vibrate for calls on, ringer volume 100%

Rules:

Activate In Car - wired headset attached
Activate Media Silenced - @Work during 9:25-5:00 M-F
Activate Power Saver - battery less 20%
Activate Silent - calendar '*' at @Work
Activate Emergency Call - call from 2 contacts
Activate Wifi On - at @Home

So when I'm in the car, it's like how you have it setup. When I'm at work, media is silenced (so I can still browse youtube on mute or something). Also, when I have a meeting at work, my phone is silent. And wifi is enabled when I get close to home.
