I'm on a MyTouch...which still has 1.6. WTF T-Mobile. This is supposed to be your flagship Android phone.

Is it worth buying the full app for Xscope? I'm using it right now as my default, but I seem to have a lot of issues closing the current tab by pressing the tab.

Besides that, it's super fast.

Cool news about 2.2. I'm surprised it is coming out so quickly after google officially announced the feature set.

I'm too used to the gaming industry and their announcements of announcements

It might reset the defaults, it might not. You can go into it and disable it if need be.

Any of you guys have a nice photo frame widget besides default? I want to use a frame larger than 2x2 but can't seem to find one in the market
 
So, you folks are way ahead of me on this Android thing. I'm on T-Mobile (derp) and I really want an Android phone with a keyboard. Is there anything out or on the horizon that would work?

Noob questions here.

1. How do I install this to my Nexus?
2. Is this the final version or will I have to figure out how to install again when the OTA updates go out to everyone?

1. download from link above
2. Put the update on your SD card & rename it to update.zip
3. Boot in recovery mode (hold down trackball + power)
4. Go to bootloader -> recovery
5. Now there's a picture of a droid with a triangle
6. Press the power button + volume up
7. Apply sdcard:update.zip
8. Updating
9. Reboot system now

WOw...scrolling is so smooth...and how a bounce to it, between pages.

Nice...when I hit the browser icon at the bottom it asked me which browser to use. I clicked the "always use this..blah,blah" and picked xScope. :D

***Flash does not come pre-installed**** Choice...it's up to you to install from the Market.

Messages app has a new look...it has a white background now? It also shows the contact name and phone # a the very top of the message thread. Don't remember that being there. This is helpful, because sometimes I couldn't tell if I was texting regular cell or Google Voice account.

Also, my pure-calander widget doesn't like the update. :lol

Keyboard languages...awesome! There is a "Español (Estados Unidos)" dictionary? Didn't know that. :lol I always see "Spain" or "Argentina". I can finally cuz in Spanish! Very cool little animation while switching between languages.

Gmail App update!! Colors for labels!!! YES! I use tons of labels, this is very useful for me. Also, there is a much quicker way to switch accounts...at the very top there is a button with the e-mail address you are currently looking at. to switch just hit it and then pick another account. Pictures of your contact also show up on the message window when reading an e-mail from them :-)

The market looks a bit different, but it seems just subtle UI enhancements nothing special. Now when you view an app you get the About (with install button at the button) and Comments tabs. You can now rate Comments...good for those spaming the app section

No, why would it? It's a signed update...not hacked at all. You just don't have to wait until it gets pushed to your phone via OTA.

Gray box? What? In my text thread it shows me as (Me)
Picture is from my facebook account, but I set up myself as a contact on Gmail to keep some account information on file...maybe that's why it shows my picture from FB.

wtf. I;m getting instillation failed. Telling me now such update.zip file exists and the signature failed.

My fw version is now 2.1-update1 Halp
 
So does the GMail app load the entire labels/folders list now, or do I still need to click Menu/Labels just to truly see all my mail?

I've got so many labels/filters going that my Inbox itself gets like 3 messages a day...

Was the zip file completely downloaded?

Do you have a T-mobile Nexus or an AT&T one?
 
T-mobile bought on contract. Dled in a named it update.zip. Should I just rename it to update?

Also after I transfer it should I unplug it from USB?

Yes, you need to unmount your SDcard and let the phone scan through it.
On xda some AT&T phone have been successfully upgraded with this file.

try redownloading it and make sure it isn't actually update.zip.zip

what's with the new backlight setting, automatic?

The screen scrolling is way better than before, not at all glitchy. The biggest update is obviously flash, fucking awesome, can get all the bbc live sports I was missing out on now.

Also the game I'm working on runs smooth as butter now :).

That's not part of this update. Also the music app does not look different at all...

Also, the touch buttons seem very much more accurate and responsive when clicked.:D
 
Just messed about with Flash in the browser. Tested a couple games and videos. Didn't have any trouble with small controls, everything worked smoothly, video played back without a hitch. Love this update.
 
Damn. I was hoping that the music streaming was a part of this update. I really wanted to try that one out.

Though I love that now when you record video you can have the option of having the flash on for some light.
