hmmm i still like pure and how they show the text on the calendar and it has the calendar lines for how long it runs (and different colors for the different calendars). Its a really good start though
ditto
played with the LP calendar for awhile and dropped it to trash.
sticking with pure-grid calendar and color coded event notification.

Fucking finally.

An updated homescreen with:
The ability to post a status update or search for friends with just one click
A new photo reel that enables easy viewing of photos and videos from friends in your News Feed
A draggable Notifications drawer where you can easily see if a friend posted a note on your wall, commented or liked a post or tagged you in a photo
Video playback from the app. Similar to the Facebook for iPhone application, we are using the H.264 baseline profile for encoding videos
Support for Events. You can now review your upcoming events, read your event details, and even RSVP – all from the application
Respond to friend requests without leaving the application

THE FACEBOOK UPDATE IS AMAZING

It even has a cool coverflow for pictures and the notifications! Holy shit!

My life has changed, fuck yeah. The apps are becoming unified in look, the FB app is slick now!

Guys, I'm trying to buy beautiful widgets but I keep getting a server error after I enter in my payment info. Anyone know how to fix this?

The new fb app is much better than it was before, though I agree with equap, it still has a lot of room for improvement - like not having to go to the browser to see content

also if people are still playing wordfeud, start a game with me - 'tabsina'

new fb app okay, could be better though.
it could definitely use chat but the look plus the nice picture feature plus the notifications overhaul...its solid now. On iphone when you hit the notifications it just said what it is (jane commented on your status) on android it also shows what they said. This app is ahead in many ways now.

Bwuh? Last I used it, you could just click on "jane commented on your status" and then it brings up the actual status in the app, where you can then subsequently comment/like/etc.

Hm, fixed my error. I just had to put the info into google checkout instead. Can anyone tell me how to install the Music Mod on my Droid X though? I just have the .apk file and have no clue what it is or what to do with it.

Yes.

In both apps, you click the notifications at the bottom.

On iPhone it says Jane commented on your status, Andrea liked your status, Jason commented on your wall. You can touch any of them to see what they said.

In Android it says Jane commented on your status: I can't believe you did that!, Andrea liked your status, Jason commented on your wall: Want to go to the mall later? You can touch any of them, but you can see what they said and decide if you want to write back from the notification screen.

I'm not really sure where to ask this, but I turned on my phone today and there was a notification for a voicemail. Not a Google Voice notification, but just a regular voicemail notification, which is weird because I use Voice. So I try to call (*86), and it acts as if I'm calling from another phone. I hear my own voice message. I press *, input my password, and it tells me there are no new messages. Problem is that notification is still there. There is no way to get it away, because for some reason my phone thinks I have a voicemail, which doesn’t exist.

Any idea on what's going on?

One beef left with Facebook at the moment... I hid a ton of people from my feed cause they aren't real friends, the app doesn't show their status but the widget still does... annoyance

Right, less clicks to see what the actual comment was, but you still get thrown out to the browser when you click on a notification to see the other comments/likes or if you want to reply back.

Hell, clicking the notificaton doesn't even take one to the actual notification, just the person's wall.

Correct, which is still pretty frustrating. Is it that hard to code? lol.

I just got 2.2 on my Droid. Thoughts:

1. The new homescreen is very polished and I like the card jump feature
2. The app drawer is nice with the fade effect
3. The 8 recent apps screen + the fade effect is nice
4. The new market is cool with the comments/info tabs and voting of comments
5. I like in applications there are tabs for running, sd card or all
6. Chrome to phone rocks
7. You can now accept, decline or maybe event invites in the email itself and there are left/right arrows for go to other emails

Everything just seems a lot more polished and thought out. I installed Flash but the showcase said it wasn't installed, I'm rebooting now to see whatsup.

Really impressed with 2.2. Google's taking Android seriously as opposed to throwing an OS out there for the hell of it and I'm impressed.

edit: Reboot did the trick. Flash show me what you've got!

So how do I move apps to the SD Card? I go to applications under settings and it's like 3 apps on my sd card(not sure how they ended up there) and the option to move other apps to the sd card is grayed out -_-

The apps have to support the feature.

The problem with the facebook app is that clicking on the notification still takes me to the facebook website instead of keeping it in-app, very annoying.

SDMove is a great app that finds all the apps that can be moved to the sd card on your phone!

Now if it's an app that checks auto update for all your apps.....

Should be automatic. They're tied to your Gmail account.

Yeah, I didn't realize this was happening. Still think it's cool how the notifications are handled now but this shit with the browser needs to stop! It's a few steps in the right direction, and my brother who is a die-hard iPhone user was jealous of the new look and pictures-as-coverflow functionality; even if the iPhone app is still in the lead.

Holy shit, videos on Facebook play flawlessly in the browser with Flash. I love Flash, and Froyo is a bundle of amazing imo. UI is still a bit all over the place but it's a great hold-over until Gingerbread, Android actually looks nice now from the app drawer to homescreens to text messaging, gmail, email and even the market's refresh.

I'm off to try MusicMod, it's apparently a great music player for 2.2. http://www.appbrain.com/app/com.piratemedia.musicmod Edit: Yes, musicmod is great. Tons of nice widgets and the now playing displays over your wallpaper, adds gesture control. The structure and look of the player is the same everywhere else though.

I've been using MusicMod today too, I'm really liking it. I prefer doubletwist's in-app interface but I like MusicMod's widgets much better.

I haven't settled on a background yet but I think I have my lockscreen configured how I like it for the most part now. The center button is a camera button, I'm glad the dev thought of something like that because it was annoying me that I couldn't do anything between the two slider bars.

CAP201008040310.jpg

On that note, Drocap2 is a far better screencap program than ShootMe. I really like the notification trigger.

Also, I really have no idea how the fuck my weather widget works, but it refuses to recognize my location correctly unless I set it manually. I also have no idea when or how the weather is accurate, or what that top part even means. I have some reading to do :lol

What is the system control widget (wifi, gps, sync, etc.) you are using?

SwitchPro Widget. Costs a dollar, well worth it in my opinion. It's only had one update since I've owned it but it was pretty substantial, added a lot more options and colors and configs.

Also holy shit at the newest Launcher Pro 0.7.2:

NEW: Dock shortcut gestures! Now each dock shortcut has an optional secondary action that you can trigger by swiping your finger upwards or downwards on it. Actions vary from launching any app selected by you, showing screen previews, showing notifications, hiding/showing the status bar, and opening the app drawer. Option to set a shortcut as the swipe action (so that you can set it to a Direct Dial shortcut, for example) will come in a future release.

NEW: Calendar widget. The third widget in the LauncherPro Plus series is the Calendar widget. By default it shows you a grid calendar for the current month, highlighting days that have events. You can scroll it vertically to switch to another month. Clicking on a day will change the widget to an Agenda view, where you can view your events for that day and the following 30 days. You can return to the calendar view by clicking the icon at the top right corner of the widget.

I knew about the second thing but the first caught me by surprise. Edit: and the shortcut gestures are for *everybody* folks. I wonder when he's going to do anything just for the LPP customers besides widgets.

Hi,

I have a HTC Desire (Just got the 2.2 update installed, Yay!) and have been taking a lot of pictures with my phone since it is so easy to upload to Facebook and such. But after looking at my friend demoing his IPhone 4 and some picture apps (like photo box?) I was really amazed at how good the pictures could look when using the different filters and effects and what not using his apps on the IPhone.

So my question is then, is there something similar to the Android? If there is, what would be the best camera app out there?

Can this help? My girlfriend has it and is really nice, in particular the pictures taken with the "toy camera" mode.

The facebook app update is much better but the widget is still a retarded waste of 2 x 4 space.

Also, what happens when you click on something on the notification screen? On mine it opens the browser instead of displaying in-app. Is that normal?

Quick question, is there any easy way (ie. not having to install something) to hide the connection type (charge only, mount sd, etc) notification from the ongoing processes, I feel like it clutters up the notification bar too much while I'm charging

Nice! Is Launcher Pro Plus on the market yet? I want to buy it just to support this guy, he is doing an amazing job

Yes it is, unfortunately. As far as I'm concerned that would be fine if the web app for facebook was even remotely good.. but as it is right now, they need to make it all integrated into the app.

I hope this means that they are simply releasing updates to the UI as they make them, rather than this being a one off UI upgrade, and that other updates will be coming

Is there a way to make the FB app throw me to touch.facebook.com or m.facebook.com instead of the complete site?

Anyway, I really don't know if the app was designed by monkeys or what. Why make the notifications open a new browser when it's stuff you can see inside the app if you access through the news feed? At least it was useful pre-update when it lead you to the mobile version of the site.

If only.

*Sigh*

It did pre-update :\ I'm tempted of uninstalling the update and stay with the stock version that came with my phone. The only fancy thing I've seen is synching the FB contacts, which is something I'm not really going to use.

The previous version used to divert me to m.facebook.com which is pretty pointless. touch or bust.

The features he added are great, I had no trouble with the bookmark or people widgets but once gestures and calendar came along its been glitchy, extremely laggy and force closing left and right. Comments in the app store show I'm not the only one.

The 2.2 launcher is pretty cool, from the shortcuts to card view for jumping. Ill be using it until Launcher Pro gets its act back together and have no problem if that never happens. Fede doesn't seem to get the widget game and lp is becoming bloated.

Finally got my Desire set up the way I want it. Launcher Pro is a god send, no more cluttered home screens, my most used apps are in the scrolling dock and everything else is in the app drawer hidden from view. Looks incredible on the Desire, a bit washed out in the screen shots for some reason.

that's weird.. I'm getting the touch.facebook.com site with this new update.. previously I was getting sent to m.facebook

The URL it sends me to is touch.facebook.com which is instantly diverting to the full site....GRRRR

Anyone know of a way to fix this? My Google-fu has failed me once again.

Hi everyone,
I just noticed that my X10 mini pro didnt come with the android market. Is there anyway to get apps on my phone besides the android market ?

You could probably push apps to the phone using ADB (including the Marketplace app) but I'm unclear on the specifics. Might wanna ask over at Modaco or XDA-Developers for a more definitive answer.
