Beautiful widgets was my first purchase, great way to customise your homescreen clock/calendar.

Curvefish do some great widgets for toggling wifi/mobile data/brightness / gps/screen rotate. Check out those as well.

Thanks, bu I have another question. What are these barcodes for? I see them everywhere on these app sites :)

Quick link so you don't have to go searching. Just fire up a barcode scanner app and you're good to go.

Yep and to answer the inevitable - Barcode Scanner is a good app but you could always just use Google Goggles. It's a bit slower but you already have it so there's no need to install another app.

Google Shopper works as well if you use that.

In other good gaming news, Fruit Ninja updated to allow apps2sd for all the measly 150ish mb of storage Androiders like myself (Droiiiiiiiiiid) and I just came across a few other nice looking titles

Overkill

.

Nice, I may get Overkill. That looks pretty good. I already got Ninja Kaka a few weeks ago when my daughter wanted to play a game like Fruit Ninja on my phone, but it wasn't there yet. Ninja Kaka looks about the same to me, honestly, but they're both fun.

Any game recommendations?

Picked up Fruit Ninja which is a blast. Was also going to pick up ExZeus Arcade but it seems I can't purchase it on my CC. Mini Squadron is another good one but I own it on my touch.

Anyone try these emulators as well?

Robo Defense is a good one.. Glyder 2 is pretty cool.

How stable and reliable has Cyanogenmod 6 been for the Nexus One? I'm thinking of rooting and reinstalling a custom rom again mostly for app storage on SD - not enough support for it thus far and I want to get rid of the Twitters/Facebooks of the world since I use Tweetdeck exclusively now. Although I guess getting rid of FB can affect contact syncing.... Hm.

I love it personally. I think I need to change the kernel though.

mmmm the Desire HD ROM dump is out and it has the new sense stuff..keep an eye out!

im on a rooted droid x.
i want to access my internal memory files.
how is this done?
i tried using astro file but can only access the SD card.

I highly recommend AndroZip. It's a great little program and doubles as an extracter. But I don't think it gets you write permission on the system partitions.

Last game post for the day but surprised and excited - Abduction 2 is out, not sure for how long but just got it. For those who don't know its one of those vertical jumping games staring a cow. Pure fun and super polished its one of my favorite games be it DS, iPhone, whatever. Graphics, music, gameplay, customizing options, its awesome.

Its nice to see some of the newer and more polished games coming to Android.

Maybe posted already.. :D

OverKill Lite, cool side scrolling shooter (99 cents for full)

I can't find the Android gaming thread.. anyone have it subscribed?

i had the weirdest thing happen yesterday. i unlocked my phone and noticed bluetooth was on and there was a file transfer notification. when i looked at the notifications, it said the transfer of some file couldn't be completed and the name of it was something like "bluetooth_content_share.html" .

i've checked through apps but can't really find anything that has the ability to turn on bluetooth except ES File Explorer, but when i went to use that today, it gave me the "whats new" display.

Any good strategy games for Android? The only game I had on my old phone was Settlers of Catan, and I loved it :D I need a turnbased strategy game I can play while on the bus...

Dragonplay live poker, caligo chaser, zenonia, homerun battle 3d, backbreaker football, uniwar, iron sight, cestos, raging thunder 2 racing, replica island,
Market millionaire.

Also try project inf...its a free mmo but its been in beta forever and hasn't been updated since before march, they claim to still be working on it.

Just bought Fruit Ninja (first thing I bought from the Market) and it's stuck on 'Authorizing purchase'. Any reason? Something wrong with my credit card?

Sometimes apps I buy/download won't actually start and finish until 10 or so minutes later... its weird.

Is this a place I can talk about problems and complaints I'm having with Android? I don't want to ruin an awesome thread....
I guess if it's software related and it's actually fixable, it's ok.

EDIT: Although, if you want help, I think it would be faster to post a new thread so that people pay attention, but that's just an inkling.

I can't wait for Gingerbread to be unvieled (soon?). I wanna see where they take Androids look and UI, I hope its killer.

I beat the Angry Birds beta. It was very smooth and bug free but overall I don't see the hype for this game! It was a lot of random tries and luck.

I can't get a score higher than 145 in Fruit Ninja :/ Mini Squadron is the shit. Bring more games Open Feint, now.

Oh, in a Sony engineer and development job posting they stated Android experience was highly desirable. Odd.

Are there any music players out there that support playing and mixing music from BOTH the SD card and the onboard memory?

Most apps I've tried only support SD, while a couple give you a choice between one or the other (but not both) in the settings. Are there any that will actually index my music from both places at the same time?

I'm looking for a small, neat music player to use with luncher pro on my non-rooted HTC hero 2.1

I'd like it to be 1x4, show album art and some simple play|pause|next|prev buttons with the option to have no background behind the widget - any recommendations?

music player

Does it all, free (not sure on the background part). This is my new go to player with widget support.

I just got my mum a galaxy s, and I've got her old sim in the phone now

I'm at 326 in Fruit Ninja. ;)

One thing that is bothering me though is that is isn't saving the score to Open Feint and instead still shows my older iPod Touch score for it.

I can't wait to see Gingerbread either. That famous designer from Palm has had enough time to make huge changes. If Gingerbread is as smoothe as WebOS, watch out...WebOS!

i sort of fixed it by syncing to outlook with sumsungs Kies software, then exporting the csv to gcontacts, i'm not sure where new contacts are going to be stored though

why is it odd? Sony is going balls in on Google TV, why wouldn't they want Android experience?

Is there a music app that supports iTunes tagging? I have everything set up so nicely in iTunes -- songs marked as compilations is a big deal!

jonnybryce said:
Oh, forgot about that. Not odd then.

i need a new tv end of next year, hoping i can get one with 3d and google tv... wish we could hear more about it. (Do your normal apps work on it, etc)

I don't believe that you can.. Your best bet is to login to her Gmail account on the PC and then add contacts from there manually. At least this way you can use a keyboard and enter them faster. They'll auto update to your phone. But no, I don't think there's a way to import SIM contacts to Gmail contacts.

It doesn't auto-sync to google after you transfer them from sim to phone?? I thought that every 'phone' contact was synced with google.

Where can I find these text-icons? I only found a non-free .rar file. And I can't even extract .rar files here in Ubuntu... sure is a free pack somewhere, right? :D

http://lifehacker.com/5642797/universal-androot-roots-most-android-phones-no-pc-or-hacking-required

Has this one touch rooting for most phones been discussed? for the 'one time use' version, does that mean it goes back and they can't tell I rooted if send it in for warranty? Does rooting actually change anything in my set up?

I want to try the PS3 Jailbreak (HTC Incredible hear), but I'm not sure I want to change much on my phone as I kind of like the set up and I'm used to everything.

This is an open call! If you want to help design a level for our retail version of Cubes, now's the time to let me know. We have implemented custom level designs via XML, and would love for our fellow players to submit their designs. You don't need to know how to code to do it, it's just a matter of having a text editor like Notepad on your machine, and placing "X"s in the design you want the cubes to be.

We are just about a month away from the final product. I can provide instructions on how the XML works and get you started if you're interested. Get your name in the credits and help propel Android gaming to the next level!

Official Thread, reply here or there if you're interested.

Yeah, that's a cool idea. As for the execution...SE and the PSPGo are both reasons to fret.

Anyone happen to know if there are any apps to (1)make sliding up my Droids screen enable speaker phone and (2)make the call screen landscape when the screen is slid up?

Does FB still work for you on tweetdeck? It stopped showing on mine....

Is there local multiplayer for the Fruit Ninja Android game like on the iPad? I'm asking because I'm planning to get an x10 and if doesn't support multitouch so local play is a no-go :/
