Anybody with a Fascinate that might know why my buddy's market hasn't updated to the 2007 update? The market has updated to 2007 on my Vibrant, but that came before the JI6 OTA update that Tmo sent out.

Is there a way to manually download the Market 2007 version on his fascinate?

Preparen sus Nexus One (Developer version) para la actualización vía OTA de Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) para los próximos días :-D

Pretty much saying get your Nexus One ready for OTA update. :D

Not sure who this guy is, but his twitter post is making the rounds. I just hope the rom leaks through XDA this week. :D

Another one :

"PaulOBrien: *gets N1 out of the cupboard ready to be OTA'd* ;-)"

So I've put 2.2 on my Captivate and found that I'm missing the spell check/dictionary functionality that previously existed.

Is this a separate download?

NM, this rom didn't include the dictionary. Updating now!

:lol

I'm excited for 2.3, but can't get too excited w/o a Nexus One. Wonder how long it will take to get it on the Droid X?

Plus, Google seems to be, as they said, releasing updates to portions of the OS through the Market. With Maps and YouTube just recently getting very nice updates, it makes waiting for the next major Android release much easier.

You and I both buddy...you and I both.
It only takes one OTA on one NexusOne and we will get the update shortly after through XDA. :D

I was actually on CyanogenMod 6.1 RC1 when I started to see the trend on Twitter for 2.3. I reverted back to stock rom just for the update.

How much better is the stock apps to SD option? That is still a very big concern given the N1's crap internal storage and developers dragging their feet and inexplicably not allowing such a simple action.

If that is solved, I probably wouldn't have much of an issue moving back to stock.

Support for it is not nearly good enough yet to compensate for the N1's low internal storage. At least not amongst the apps I've tried/used.

Not sure if this is the right thread, but I have a Droid that was rooted, and by accident allowed the OTA update to be processed. Now, my phone can no longer make calls (it tells me the app is not installed when I try to press the icon), I cannot enter my settings in order to do a factory reset, and all around my phone seems to be borked. Has anyone experienced such an issue who may know what I can do?

I'm hoping the g2 gets the update soon after the nexus. Its basically stock now that tethering is enabled. I really don't think anything would need to be ported. My fingers are crossed. I want this update, and some details.

Does Widget Locker allow you to change the lock bar to something else? Or move it?

It allows you to place another lock bar, if you can't move or delete the first one, why would you want 2?

Yes you can move the lock bar (known as sliders) and add others. You can customise what the sliders will do. For example instead of lock/unlock, you can turn on/off wifi.

How do you move or delete the main lock slider? Clicking and holding does nothing. I know how to change its functions, but not how to move or replace it.

Also where do you get other sliders?

From WidgetLocker Tool mode, select Menu->Settings->Look & Feel->Slider & Layout->No Slider.

From WidgetLocker Tool mode, select Menu->Add->Custom Slider

Root your phone and install an apps to sd app from the market and move most apps over to your sd card no matter if its allowed or not

Opera Mobile is out on the Android Market now. I think I enjoy it so far, I might switch.
Trying it right now, I don't see much that makes me switch from stock captivate browser but I'll give it a go.

Is the stock captivate browser different from the regular android browser?

Opera mobile supports animated GIFs!! FTW.
:lol

Ha i just got dolphin yesterday, and I like it. I'll try Opera. Was there a previous verion on the market, because I'm pretty sure I tried an Opera browser that was slow and meh.

I'm aware of the workaround, I'm just answering the question in terms of the "stock" solution, since that was what was asked for.

There was and it sucked donkey balls.

Has anyone seen what kind of bloatware the Droid Pro will come saddled with? Thinking of preordering one today but there aint much info on it out there.

That was Opera Mini. That does remote rendering.

This is Opera Mobile. Local rendering.

So does the stock browser, or am I missing something?

You're not missing anything, stock does animated gifs just fine. I haven't seen a compelling reason to switch from stock yet, but i'll give opera a go for shits..

Stock browser moves like crap compared to dolphin, and I'm assuming opera(from my WinMo days).

Angry Birds has new levels for android..
I just figured out the deal behind finding the golden eggs. I could slap myself for not noticing that :lol
The ads now being at the top of the screen instead of the bottom suck hard though. We need the paid version pronto, as it has messed up a few of my games since I couldn't see the damn bird.

From the AIR Team Blog:

In cases where a user receives the Gingerbread OS update before updating to the AIR 2.5.1 runtime, they will receive a native dialog on load stating that the application has quit unexpectedly and your application will fail to load. We’d like your assistance in preventing end users from this type of experience on their device.

:D

Soon folks. Soon!

Hey LauncherPro users...

I love the "Hidden Apps" feature which allows you to hide apps in the app drawer... but for some reason even though I have "Amazon MP3 Store" and "Settings" checked to hide, they seem to go hidden for a bit, but then magically show back up in the drawer even though they are still checked as hidden under LauncherPro's settings.

any idea?

If it's on Verizon probably their stupid vcast app store bullshit. Nothing a root can't solve

Dunno, just uninstall it with Titanium Backup (requires root though). Never had that problem myself when I used the hide feature anyway.

You think its worth the effort? Been just waiting for the ota update in usa but seems to still be a but away.

Holy cow, downloaded an album through Amazon MP3 and it ate my battery. Usually I'm at about 50-60% battery at 2:30pm, but it's at 30% right now.

Not sure about switching from CM 6.1 RC to Gingerbread. What's in Gingerbread, anyway, other than subtle UI refinements? I feel like we don't know much about it, compared to Froyo's speed increase.

Revamp the entire Android UI, please. It's ugly and all over the place.

did you do it over 3G or wifi?

3G will suck your battery hard for lots of data. it's best to delay the download and use a decent wifi connection, as the wifi is more efficient for larger amounts of data.

Just the music library streaming and synchronization is enough for me to leave CM for a while (until they catch up to 2.3). That is one of the main features I'm hoping for. But who knows...Google doesn't publish a roadmap so it's anyone's guess what we are getting.

The reason I bought the Nexus was to be at the cutting edge of Android OS updates. CM is great, but it will still lag a bit behind every time there is a new OS update.

Anybody ever see this type of ad before?

A Microsoft ad was just sent to my phone! An icon popped up for Microsoft Office in my indicator bar. Like a small colorful icon.

He blames being logged into an open wi-fi network. That's crazy talk.

I bet it's some weird app he downloaded...

It's definitely worth the effort. With Cognition 2.3b3 you get wifi tethering, the lag fix, as well as all of the AT&T bloatware removed.

My benchmarks dramatically increased and the lag fix produces a much quicker response time when doing just about anything really.

I have a Droid X on Verizon and just got the same thing. I'm fairly certain that today is exactly one month since I got my phone, so maybe that's why it was pushed out.

It's not for Microsoft though, it was asking me to upgrade to the pay version of "Quickoffice." It looks like there's a $9.99 version on the market, not sure if what Verizon preinstalls is a trial version or a lite free version. I use it to look at PDFs though.
