There's not a whole lot in it, IMO. I've paid for LauncherPro, but I'm currently using the free version of ADW - it fits what I want to do a bit better. Largely it's a matter of personal preference.
 
I'm really liking LauncherPro so far but would like to compare to ADW but can't find it on the marketplace. When I search ADW or ADW launcher all that comes up is a bunch of ADW themes.

Speaking as one of those people, no. I deliberately avoid using it, for exactly the same reason - I don't want to deprive the providers of sites that I use of their income stream. On Slashdot, which offers the ability to disable ads to long-term posters, I leave them enabled.

Get Barcode Scanner. Scan the barcode. :)
 
download Google Goggles. You use your phone's camera to take a photo of the barcode thingy, and it takes you to the app in the market.
 
What if I currently use LauncherPro but want to try out ADW? Will my LauncherPro setup be erases and I'll have to start from scratch if I want to go back?

Is Google Goggles better? And also, I was thinking about buying Beautiful Widgets. Is there any reason I should skip it for something else?

Better? Not really, but it does much more. Take a picture of a landscape (building, etc) with Goggles and it will hopefully give you information on it. You can also take a picture of a Logo, and it might also give you info on that.

It was Google HK though. The 2.3 version they were running was probably old, but I agree the visual difference isn't earth-shattering.

I use my phone alot for listening to music in the car, using the widget on the lock screen (widgetlocker) to skip song can be hard at times since I might hit the widget and it opens the main screen instead of the next song -.-''

I tried a few apps but havnt seen something like that. Currently using mixzing
 
Any recommendations on internet browsers? Right now I'm using Dolphin HD and have been pretty pleased by it so far but haven't experimented too much with others yet.
 
I'm looking for a good music player and widget. The one I got on my Droid 2 is good but it's green and doesn't look very nice. I found Pure Music but was wondering if maybe there was a free alternative to it.

I'm not totally sure, but I think some apps (listen or pandora, i think) have a long volume press skip to the next song.

Im on 2.1 so it might be different for me than others but I like the default browser the best, its the most stable for my phone. Opera Browser is pretty cool but alot of tick tack things bug me about it, (like links to android market dont work, google search looks ugly, it can hog up my resources at times, etc). I also use Skyfire browser when it comes to playing videos alot of times since thats my only way atm until 2.2.
 
I was just organizing some apps in my phone after having purchased the "Folder Organizer" app. I noticed that I still had the "Lite" version installed and went to the application manager to uninstall the "Lite" version.

There was no indication which one was Lite and which one was the "Full" so, knowing that you have the ability to re-download purchased content through the market, I figured I'd just guess and choose the one that was a smaller file. If I was wrong, no biggie, I'd go redownload the file.

So I delete it and I immediately get a notification saying "Refund failed: Try again later" or something to that effect. I'm thinking..."Refund? Wtf... who said anything about a refund?"

I quickly went to the market/downloads section to redownload it and it's not listed... when I go to the "Folder Organizer" it's available for me to purchase again, but I can't redownload it for free. And this whole "Refund failed" shit... am I not getting my money back AND won't be able to download it again without purchasing it a second time? What the hell...

...how do I "Try again later" anyway in order to get a refund?

If you use iTunes the best syncing solution is iSyncr or iSyncr Wifi. Doubletwist desktop is the suck.

As for mp3 player apps I always go back to stock in the end. They're usually not that different and slow/you end up trading one annoyance for another with ones on the market imo.

Opera Mini by far, its quick enough, very clean UI, and stable as well. But yah, if you like media playing, then this isnt the browser for you, as it doesnt even support flash (at least not that I have noticed) at all. Opera Mobile does support flash, but unfortunately it is slow (sometimes doesn't even load them) and there is also something weird about the way it show pages.

When it comes to media playing, the one I liked the most was Skyfire, pretty good when it comes to playing videos. But the UI is very cluttered (not nearly as awful as Dolphin HD though)

I also tried the mobile version of Firefox, which unfortunately is very slow, but the UI has potential.

Does anyone else own Pure Messaging Widget? For some reason I can't download any skins on my DX... Did the author shut it down? :/ I'm trying to set my skin to the most simple, no BG, white text, I used to have on my Droid 1 but can't download any skins.

Does anyone here use Google Voice? I'm thinking of picking it up for the free texting -- I don't actually have a text plan, but a few friends have bugged me to get text support.

Are there any better alternatives for free texts? I don't really need the phone rerouting stuff.

I use to have a text plan but got rid of it and just use Google Voice, it works well you'll just have to give everyone your GV # and there's no MMS support so you can't send or receive pictures or videos via text.

Nice, thanks. MMS support doesn't bug me, I'll just use email for that if I need to.

I'm glad there's finally a way to get around the obscene rates they charge for texting.

Same here. I've been using GV but I'm going to supplement it with Kik.

I've been using Google Voice for over a year. There are a lot of nice little perks about it (free texting, free visual voicemail, unknown caller screening) if you can make the switch to it. Plus, it's nice to save close to $500 in texting fees over the length of a 2-year contract.

I actually find the highest barrier to entry for most people is having to use a new phone number and going through the trouble of giving it out to all their friends. If you can get over that, there is basically no reason you shouldn't be using Google Voice.

I own it, but don't use it anymore. I still use the same developer's other widget though, Pure Calendar Widget. That one is currently reporting a "server temporarily out of order" error as well, when I try to access the skins.

Looks like dev is aware of issue, waiting for fix from service provider:

For Pure messenger, some skins are not yet available. They will be when the old server will be restored.

Winamp does some funky stuff to me like songs randomly start crapping up until they're a noise mess, and the option to leave the app when this happens stops working so you have to navigate to the app admin menu to kill it every once in a while, but maybe it's due to my phone not being top-tier (Samsung Spica user here). Cubed (³) works great for me.

Give "Whatsapp" a try, it's a push-based IM app that lets you transfer pics, videos or locations, and it's cross-platform with Blackberry, iPhone and Symbian (almost all iPhone users have it). It barely impacts battery life as it works on push mode so you can have it on 24/7 and you won't notice at all.

One thing about android I hate...always seems like 2-3 updates are near and my phone feels so outdated even though I got it a few months ago :lol

One day Ill get Froyo :(
