Another Infamous: Second Son screenshot (offscreen) [Up: More Images]

I find it *highly* suspicious based on two factors:

(1) The camera angle and character's position/size relative to it. I can't speak to the camera mechanics in inFamous SS, having not played it, but at the very least it's a very rare angle for a third-person sandbox game and isn't consistent with the footage that is undeniably in-game (by which I mean non-cutscene).

(2) The fact that it looks worlds better than the footage we know to be in-game.

It comes off a bit like a tech demo, especially since the shot is angled to eliminate most background elements and obscure the fact that there are no cars on the road or people on the streets.

I guess what I'm saying is that I don't think that's what your're going to see when you ump up onto a fire escape and absorb the electricity from a neon sign while running around the city fighting bad guys.

And your point earlier about how if a character isn't on the screen then it's almost certainly a render is also ridiculous. Aside from the point that you've already backed off that by questioning the gif that features Delsin consuming neon, you're ignoring the fact that developers have the ability to fly around the environment to show the scale. Here's a video of Guerrilla doing it in KZ: Shadow Fall

And let's also not forget that as far as I know Sucker Punch has never used renders in inFamous games. Their footage either consists of in-game footage or comic art.

I'm excited for Killzone but it looks like just more of the same to me. Yeah they're making the single player more open but everything else looks like a prettier version of the Killzone 3.

Let's be fair then, couldn't you say the same about Second Son? "Yea they're adding a lot of destruction but everything else looks like a prettier version of Infamous 2"

You can say this about any game on the market today. All FPS on the market today are just a prettier version of the original Doom!

I disagree. With inFamous not only is it pretty and has destruction. But it seems they have put way more effort in having a cinematic experience with the story and characters. For me personally the first 2 inFamous games were fun but they lacked a decent production, they felt like B grade games, Second Son seems to be a huge improvement. As for Killzone, it seems different enough to the ones before with more open environments, more tactics being played, doing side missions, and having the Owl. And of course targeted 60fps and promise of future DLC being free as well as a decent amount of maps makes Killzone the perfect launch title. On the other hand the new IP's like Knack and Driveclub hasn't impressed me.

I still don't get the weird ass powers in this game.

First smoke and then NEON powers. I mean NEON!?!?!?! WTF!?!?!

I have no idea how they will make that work.

I was talking exclusively graphics there. I was kind of responding to your post and the post you quoted at the same time.

I can agree with I1 but I2? No way. That game clearly shows that it had a big budget. They had full performance capture for the cutscenes just like in the uncharted games (even used the same studio I think).

Smoke will be nearly indistinguishable from fire, neon will be light balls and beams. They really don't have to make anything "work" as long as it looks cool.

I don't believe that the part starting at 4:50 in that clip is live gameplay footage.

In my eyes, it's very clear that some of the footage released for inFamous SS looks *much* more impressive than the other footage. And almost without fail, the bits that look more pedestrian (comparatively) are from angles that I'm very familiar with from playing inFamous 1 & 2, while the ones that pop out look like they're from cutscenes or QTE-like bits (like when Cole charged up one of the power grid stations in inFamous 1).

The city let empty and dull. The monsters looked terrible and out of place. The story was boring as well as the characters. However the gameplay is what made those games fun, hoping Second Son fixes all the other issues.

I'm really glad that Sucker Punch didn't name this inFAMOUS 3.

Now, I loved the first two games with a passion, but I feel Second Son will be a nice, fresh start for the franchise for newcomers or those not sold on the first two awesome games. I say it in every thread, but Sucker Punch deserves this. They deserve to get the Naughty Dog treatment this generation.

I only wished that Insomniac could have been brought into the PlayStation fold. For me, Sucker Punch, Naughty Dog, and Insomniac (the "Platformer Trio"), were all kindred spirits, making fun, awesome games like Sly, Jak, and Ratchet, respectively, then moving on to great success on the PS3 and 4. Well, ND and SP look to be on the up. Hopefully Insomniac will bring me a PS4 Ratchet, and I'll be giddy.

The wait for Second Son is going to be rough, but I'll have a ton of games between my PS3, Vita, and PS4 to keep me busy until February.

I don't have a problem with Killzone: Shadow Fall looking and playing like the previous iterations but they could still be doing more with the series. Games such as Splinter Cell: Blacklist are adding RPG mechanics to their respective series and although they are basic they invest me more into what is going on in the game mechanically. The main reason I'm harping on Killzone: SF not having enough new features is because it's the only PS4 exclusive I'm interested in at launch.

And that is precisely why this is exciting. It's nice to see something a little different from stock-standard superhero powers.

I thought you were talking about production values, nevermind. Don't really see how the city felt empty though, it was loaded with npcs and traffic.
I wouldn't get my hopes up for the story.

Game does look good. To answer people who asked - they covered the PS4 devkits in burlap sacks, so we couldn't actually see them, lol

Here, here, very well said!

KZ:SF is changing the formula though. Sure it's still and FPS, but they're taking a more "open field" approach to combat, rather than your typical corridor crawl. This is supposed to lead to more dynamic encounters with a wide variety of ways to approach a given fight. (More akin to the early Halo games in that way.) That's a big change for the series. I think a lot of people will just be shrugging their shoulders and saying, "More Killzone" and dismissing it rather than giving it a chance. A lot of games press has already done that.

I hope the boxart is dude holding a gun plastered on a blue/orange background, too, bro. I'M TOTALLY WITH YOU ON GENERIC 3RD PERSON GAME 8693789!

I think we all get it now, you are not impressed with Infamous 2, the good images are cutscenes, and the game will look nothing like this at launch. You have explained it now at least 2 times.

Thanks!!!

I'm willing to give it a chance. Hopefully the open environments are well designed and they give you enough tools to tackle the combat encounters in different ways. I can tell that Far Cry 3 was one of GG main inspirations because it's more open now and the stealth kills look like they were ripped straight out of it. I just wish they would have taken more from it, but who knows it could have some basic RPG mechanics considering they have only shown two gameplay demos from the singleplayer so far.

Easily the next-gen game I'm most excited about. I'm not getting a PS4 at launch, but I won't be able to wait long when this game comes out.

That's a pretty lame reflection technique. They're just using a simple reflection of what the player sees rather than what the actual world would reflect (which in this case would be the sky and very little of the road).

Heck, you can even see the player's HUD in the reflection (at the very end on top of the car).

Screen space reflections can only relect what what the player sees. It will work the same in inFamous and Killzone SF.

yea probably thanks to the Sony ICE team. This studio was never really known for the graphics before. Sly 1, 2, 3 and Infamous 1, 2 and the Vampire add on all looked like ass technically. And now out of no where, they have blown all the Sony devs away :P

I disagree. Not sure why you say that - actually. Infamous 2 is the best looking open world game I've played. Great animation. Great color. Very smooth frame rates. Also the gameplay was fun.

But they're replacing Rico with a robot that doesn't talk and is almost too useful.
