I'm not eligible to win but I want to answer anyho.
1. Have you considered becoming a game developer / are you currently a game developer?
Yes, I am a game dev. Currently working as programmer at a small studio.
2. In general, do you prefer contract / temporary employment or long term / permanent employment?
Both have its ups and downs. I prefer long term, permanent employment for stability since I have a family and bills to pay. Downside is you don't really know when you'll be let go so that can hit when least expected. I'm on contract for a bit now and I don't mind it that much since I know when I'll have to look for work and to be honest, my view is if the company has work and I perform well, they'll keep extending my contract. If they don't have work, they'll still let me go even if I'm permanent employee there for a while.
3. If you worked in the game industry, would you prefer to work at a small / indie studio or a large / AAA studio?
Prefer small studio because I can get to know everyone. I am not just a employee number whatever to the management.
4. Would you prefer to work on one large project over the course of several years, or work on several different projects over the same course of time?
No preference here actually. I do what needs to be done whether that's one project at once or multiple project at once.
5. If you did work in the game industry, would you prefer to work in a company that has a publisher as a partnership or work in a company that self-publishes games?
Again, no preference. Whatever work gives me a job. Just because a company makes its own games and self-publish doesn't necessary mean I'm making games I want to play.
Note: answer to 4 and 5 make me sound like I don't care about my job, but I do. I love what I do but reality is, a job is a job. Pretty much all the games that has my name in the credits are games in genres I don't really play. Regardless, I still enjoy my job.
