Anyone Else Think Super Smash Bros. Wii U Sucks?

Good game but I didn't like how there were so many moving stages. Any stage that has moving parts should have options to play on the stationary "levels" that it rotates between.

I've seen some OPs start some insanely fleshed out threads, but you really went above and beyond!

And no, it really doesn't suck. I'm sure there are some people who think it does, but I'd think the majority of its players liked it a fair amount. You need to atleast put up something resembling an argument to justify that point.

I play Wii U version over Melee.

When opted for choice friends choose Wii U version to play over any other version.

What makes U version suck? This is the first I've heard of this.
Is it because Cloud is in it and that's a blasphemy?

I still play with my brother occasionally, and bring it, along with Mario Kart 8, to every con I go to. Booze and Smash just go so well together.

You can play as Sephiroth, Cloud, Guts, Big Boss, Sora, basically anyone who's been uploaded as a skin you can mod into Brawl.

Hell you can even put your own music and victory themes in.

I had the Jurassic Park theme play when Yoshi won.
You can do most of that in Smash 4 now as well.

It has aeful stage selections. It's clear the dv team used Omega mode as an excuse to make the stages as chaotic as possible which really sucks. Playing on reskinned FD constantly is boring but a lot of the actual stages are complete garbage.

The single player is crap too.

bayonetta being in it helps a LOT. but Samus being absolute CHEEKS hurt it for me too

other than that, it's very forgettable for me. it didnt last very long within my friend group.

i think mechanically its good, and it has lots of cool things here and there, but it didn't hold my interest very long for some reason. it's better than brawl but could stand to still be a bit faster than it is. idk, it's a weird game for me. i look back on it and think "i should have loved this" but it never really stuck

i remember when Bayonetta released and i downloaded her and Ryu, played the game for a week, and thought to myself "oh actually i dont like this game at all" and never played it again.

I agree it sucks, OP.
No Solid Snake, like what were they thinking?

Real Answer: It's a good game. Gameplay wise I like it more than Melee and Brawl. It has a lot of content and the roster for the most part is pretty great. But the lack of Snake with other iconic third party characters really hurts the game a lot in my eyes. We literally could've had the perfect Playstation All-Stars on WiiU with just Snake and Cloud. Not to mention we no longer have a good trap character to really shake up some of the match ups.

Every Smash game is a well made game.

That's debatable. If "quantity of content and lots of fanservice" constitutes "well made" then sure. But Brawl had a lot of questionable design decisions that basically came to be because Sakurai didn't like that Melee was played competitively. They weren't good natured "this will make the game better" decisions, they were deliberately sketchy in order to try to pressure people into playing the game the way he envisioned it.

Smash 4 is disappointing in terms of content. There just isn't a lot to do, basically the only fun single player mode is the Orders mode, but that gets old fairly quickly. They ruined classic mode, the event matches are lacking, and Smash Tour is merely okay with friends, not particularly good (and awful alone).

Mechanically it's still dumbed down from Melee, so I'd much rather play that (or Project M). Stage selection also leaves a lot to be desired, they are bigger and more chaotic than ever.

That's legitimately crazy, but yeah, I have one group of friends that won't touch Melee and one group of friends that won't touch Smash 4.

I'll happily play both, but I prefer Melee by a large margin.

My patience for Smash 4 lasts about 4 hours a week, haha. I can't get over brain dead combos in Smash 4 in addition to being able to forward Smash out of shield. Some of the stuff you can get away with in that game is just too ridiculous haha. I wish DI was more significant.

Definitely a great game despite all of it's flaws.

I've gotten progressively less and less play out of Smash Bros. games since Melee. That's probably more on me than the quality of the games though; I had a lot of spare time on my hands in 2001.

Obviously if we're talking about competitive Smash then that's a whole different argument.

How much fun did you all extract from 8-player mode?

That mode for me came in clutch more than a few times. Most of the time it worked really well when we had 5 people who wanted to play. Was nice not having to have someone sit out. That's something I pray is still in Smash Switch

I can understand those who wanted an adventure mode (actually, I agree!), but I'll never understand the "there's not enough single-player content" sentiment (or just "lack of content" in general)

Super fun! I play it quite regularly. :)

More characters are viable compared to Melee, so it's way more interesting to play and watch.
Great game.

As a percentage of the cast or just raw numbers? The few Melee players with any actual likelihood of winning a major tournament actively use 6 characters between them, which is nearly a quarter of the cast. If placing well qualifies as "viable" then around half the cast has made top 8 at a major in the last year or so, which is pretty darn good for a 15 year old game being played in a manner it wasn't intentionally balanced around.

And if you watch top 32/64/round 2 pools there is plenty of variety from good players.

Only complaint is I wish a lot of the stages in the 3DS version could've been included on the Wii U version. Would've liked Yoshi's Island and Brinstar to name a couple.

Personally I think it feels better than Brawl and the novelty of being able to pit Mario vs. Sonic vs. Pacman vs. Megaman, etc. is worth quite a bit.

Cmon son.

Smash 4 is the best game in the series in terms of mechanics, depth, balance, everything. Single player modes be damned. :P

I was never interested in competitive play until smash 4, and then I got into it in a huge way.
