Anyone had issues with cdkeys.com preorders?

I preordered Wolfenstein New Colossus back on July 9th from cdkeys and still haven’t received my steam code. Emailed them once and they told me they had no record of my email address on file, despite the fact that I could log in with that email address and my order account shows my order. So I have all the proof I need to show I’m legit, when I responded back with a screenshot that had all my account/order information I never got a response. Note that that my order page does not have any links/screenshots to a key. I’ve checked over and over.

Just curious if anyone else has had issues with them?
I’m disappointed because they have a largely stellar reputation, but this was the first time I ever used them for preorders.

I got a confirmation email, but had that issue. It was resolved promptly after emailing them about the issue

Every single pre order I've had from them had a link in the receipt email that took me to the key once the game was actually out/

Still no response. If I don’t hear anything and/or receive my key by Sunday, I may file a claim with PayPal.

Considering how a reputation cdkeys has and prior to now I had never had issues I’m confident it won’t come to that.

You really didn't get a confirmation email when you bought it? My link was in an email I received last June.

confirmation email goes to your paypal email. You can also view your CDkeys in your profile and orders.

It's in the confirmation email they first send you when you first purchase. It's a bit dumb that you can't just find the info on your profile though.

I got a confirmation email back in July but It appears it was deleted by accident as I couldn’t locate it in my gmail. I remember back when I got it that I was surprised that it didn’t have a key provided right then and there. I then assumed it would be emailed out closer to release date and/or it would just show up in my account page. Neither of those things happen. Apparently they have a baffling stupid system in which the only way to get order details is through the receipt email that I was sent way back in July. Any other site that sells keys (gamestop, Amazon etc) stores the key in your account details and/or purchase records. Why cdkeys has it set up that way is beyond me as it just seems like it has the potential to create a lot of problems. Having said that I am fairly confident that somewhere they have a database that keeps records of who was assigned what key and they be able to send it to me.

My source of frustration right now is the radio silence and lack of response to emails. My very first email sent two days ago in which I first asked about it and I got a response within three hours and the response I got was a letter saying that they couldn’t locate my email address and/or order number EVENTHOUGH ITS THE SAME EMAIL ADDRESS I USED TO LOGIN TO THEIR WEBSITE AND I GAVE THEM THE ORDER NUMBER IN THe HELPDESK EMAIL FORM.
However, I respond to that email and in the actual email I give them my email address, order number and take a screenshot of the proof of purchase from my account page. I did that yesterday morning and have not gotten a response. I resent it again this morning and still no response.

You can’t call them as their phone system is not accepting calls.

I had an issue with Destiny 2 because they don't send out another confirmation email at time of release, so my 3 month old email was the only thing with the download link on it, check if you have the email from whenever you pre-ordered it and look for the download link.

Failing that bug them on Twitter or send a request help via the online ticket system, I never have to wait long for a reply.

That’s why I am frustrated because it’s been over 30 hours since I sent my original response to their first email. I sent another one this morning.

I always opt for the online ticket service over email, I've never had to wait that long.

This unfortunately is not going to end the way I like it.

I received a response from “Katie”

“Hi,

I checked with our system and it shows that your order has been delivered and the key has been accessed/redeemed. Should you need any further assistance, please let us know.

Hope that you enjoy the purchase.”

There is no truth to this at all. I haven’t received it.
This pisses me off because it makes me look like some sort of scammer.

Always has worked fine for me, I always only use the top rated sellers though - they are usually the cheapest too so that works well.

So I went back to the help desk and sent a pic of my steam account and cdkeys.com order account and sent the following message

I have had several email exchanges with Katie and it's safe to say I have a legitimate problem and I am really hoping we can get this taken care of, because I have enjoyed being able to purchase products from cdkeys.com for a while now and want to be able to continue to do so.

Anyway, I pre-ordered Wolfenstein New Colossus on July 9th of this year. It shows up in my cdkey.com account and I have record of it in paypal. I never received a steam key at that time and I just assumed it would show up at a later time. However, earlier this week I noticed that I had still not received a keycode, as I had assumed I would have given that this the week of release, so I went here to the help desk and requested an update. The response I got was:
"

Hi,

We aren't able to locate any recent orders on the system under this email. Can you let us know the order number or email address used so we can look into that for you please?

Kind Regards,

Katie

I am confused at this response since all that information is available in the help desk form.

Nevertheless, I send a response with a screenshot of the order and wait for over 36 hours for a response and I get the following response:

I don't know what it shows on your end, but I can say with 100% honesty, that I have NOT received and/or redeemed the keycode. I have not. If cdkeys.com did send the key, I have not received it and it certainly hasn't been redeemed in my steam account. I have attached a screenshot of my steam library. I realize that this isn't 100% proof, but I am more than willing to provide anything within reason to prove that I am not trying to defraud you. Maybe a mistake happened and somebody else received it, but I have not received it. This is a fact. It is entirely possible that cdkeys.com may have emailed me the key and it never ended up in my inbox. If that is the case, perhaps you can determine which key was sent to me and simply resend it since the key hasn't been used by me. That is the best solution.

In the event that you cannot resend me a key, then I will politely request a refund.

Thank you for your courtesy and understanding.

If cdkeys.com refuses to send me a code, I will have no choice but to file a claim with paypal

Adds up.

I'm so totally on their side. What in the world is it with a picture of a random steam account as "proof"? Come on you can't be serious with that.

Oh and for the record - sounds like their system is shit. Also sounds like you didn't read the email properly and deleted it.

Totally on their side? Why? I paid for a product and I can't play it. Would you be on their side if that happened to you? An email that was sent back in July that got deleted and it would seem at this moment that the only way I can access that product is from that email that would that is now over 3 months old. Im sorry, but that is crap.

In this day and age, it's not unreasonable to assume that the key would get stored in the login account on their main page. Greenmangaming does it, Amazon does it, Gamestop does it. All of those sites keep digital records and copies of the product keys for you to verify.

A steam account picture I am well aware doesn't constitute proof. I mention such in my response email. but it's something and I also mention that I am more than willing to provide any additional proof that is within reason. It can't hurt.

Anyway, my hope is that cdkeys will simply locate the product key that is attached with my order ID and send it to me again. Surely, they would have a database that stores all that information. There is simply no way they can function as a business without having some internal means to track who was assigned what key.

yea i dont know why they wouldn't just resent the key and let you try it out if you are saying its not used. again a lot of problems would be resolved if they actually put their keys on your account like every other site in the world.

i've been using cdkeys for a few years now

the only downside is that you may receive your key the day of release or later, and not before release

I only tend to use CD keys post release, as stuff like GMG you usually get the key as soon as the pre-order is up within reason. I try to only pre-order a few days before release unless I get a mega discount. GMG are a pain for changing there deals every 5mins

iirc they have illegal keys.

please correct me if im wrong.

You are wrong. There's a lot of ignorance about "grey market" resellers, mainly because you only see negative headlines about them. As others have mentioned, there's nothing illegal about the keys sold by sites like cdkeys. They were obtained legally, are fully functional and will never be revoked. With sites like G2A or Kinguin, that's not always the case because those are just marketplaces for third-party sellers. Essentially the eBay of game keys. Sellers have reputations and if you buy from a seller with good reputation, you're basically guaranteed to be safe. Buying from a seller with little to no reputation, on the other hand, is much riskier.

I've purchased at least a dozen games from cdkeys (most of which were pre-orders) and never had issues. Keys were always delivered on time, activated without issue and were never revoked.

I preordered some game from them, don't really remember which, but it was a pretty bad experience with the game not being available at launch, it took something like a day for the keys to go out. It was annoying, but still got the game.

Update:

Turns out that the key was sent to my old deactivated school email address, which is strange considering that all of my account/paypal info shows my current email address.

I called my school and they can't restore access, but hopefully now that we actually know why I didn't receive it hopefully they should be able to resend it to my current email address. which matches my paypal account and cdkeys.com account.

Keeping my fingers crossed. this should get resolved soon.

Honestly, I wish you luck as this just seems a little too much effort on your behalf to get one cd-key.

Hopefully it's resolved quickly for you and they understand. I've had nothing but great (and cheap) experiences with them.

If you paid for something and couldn’t access it wouldn’t you put in a little effort. No reason for me to have paid $35 and not be able to use it.

If you’re referring to all the hoops I am having to go through then yes, it’s beyind ridiculous that cdkeys can’t do what every other reseller does and just have the key available in the user account info.

Sorry, you misunderstand me....I'm agreeing with you, I'm trying to say the amount of effort to get your game after paying for it is crazy.

It just tells me to not pre-order anything from the site, I really wish you get everything cleared and can finally play the game.

Maybe they're good for older game deals? I dunno checked them out a few times and it was like 10 bucks or 5 bucks cheaper than steam, hell for that I'm not even bothering to browse a site

I hope you get it resolved.

I preordered something and they canceled it on me because they couldn't guarantee it would work in my region once. So there's a bit of an unknown element that comes with the price.

That’s also a failing on their end. If someone says they didn’t receive a key code they ought to have a system set up so that it automatically resends it.

Not sure about pre orders but oki buy regurly from them for years and had no issues granted none of them were pre orders though.

i dunno man. if i pre-order from cdkeys i make certain to have purchase info available at all times, make sure the confirmation email is quick and easy to find

you have to dot your i's and cross your t's. they have good service all things considered but this isn't amazon

Weird last time I preordered a game from them they did make the key available in My Account on the site.

Another update:

I was emailed back and they said they can forward the key to my correct email address, but I needed to provide the transaction ID from PayPal, which I did.

I’m certainly grateful that should FINALLY get resolved, but it’s so fucking stupid that this has required this many steps to get to the bottom of it.

This whole “send email, wait a day for response which asks you to provide additional info, send that info, wait to get a response in which they request more info, wait more....ugh.

I just want to play my fucking game!!!

This is on you. You were using the wrong details the entire time. This has nothing to do with their service.

I also pre-ordered Wolfenstein with them and had no issues.
When you pre-ordered you received a confirmation e-mail that includes a URL to the download code. See if you can find it. If not either you used a different e-mail address or something went wrong with the process.

No it’s not on me. Don’t be an ass.

This is on a stupid system. If every other key provider can make it pain free to access their keys that they purchased then cdkeys.com needs to get with the times and do it too. That’s on them.

The email address in my account was correct and the email address in my PayPal account was also correct.

No it’s not amazon, but it ain’t hard to have a system (like every other key vendor) that enables you to log in and get your information from their website. Greenmangaming and gamersgate ALL provide that info available when you log in. They’re not exactly multinational corporations either.

It ain’t rocket science.

cdkeys.com get their keys from boxed copies via very cheap regions. That's why you get scans of the codes. Their support is pretty good. I've had two issues (out of many orders) and were resolved quickly with no effort from my part.

They are grey market technically because they're not authorized to sell them and they are indeed abusing region prices, but tbh most publishers are wising up and region locking anyways. But I've never had a key revoked, again because it's from boxed copies

cdkeys are a very well known reseller of cheap keys...why aren't publishers/developers trying to shut them down?
