LMAO... just be sure to check the ages. Some groups have big age gaps between the members like this one:
The youngest members just turned 14 and 15 while the oldest member is 23, but guessing which is which isn't always as easy as it sounds.
I keep seeing them namedropped on r/kpop but I haven't given their stuff a listen yet. Sounds like I gotta give em a chance!Just got in after binge watching Produce 48 on Youtube. Now I'm an Iz*One fan. In fact, I bought their debut album (both 2 versions). I see a bright future for them.
Glad to have you aboard. We'll convert you one day, even if it means resorting to more pictures In the meantime, I recommend this music video from a goddess on Earth named Jun Hyo Seong. I distinctly remember the first time I saw this video. One of the few times I've caught myself with my mouth hanging open.I think some of the k-pop girls are really beautiful, but I dont listen to the music.
In old-gaf, I'd occasionally check in on the k-pop thread, just to check out the cute and/or sexy gifs. lol
If you can't enjoy a song without singing along, I can understand your point. Otherwise, it's pop music. The lyrics aren't gonna have much substance either way. Is there anything that follows the for starters or is that it? Not trying to be defensive; just curious what turns you away. But the music? No. For starters I can't understand the lyrics.
I see. That's fair. Well you're welcome to stay and check out the videos that get posted!Well I do enjoy the melody, but only if I'm watching a video alongside it. The dancing adds to the music. It helps that the girls are too sexy.
By itself on speakers, the music does little for me.
That’s some catchy music right there.
Initial D is most known music-wise for Eurobeat, which is the high energy techno songs with vocals. See: The(1) holy(2) trinity(3) for examples. Initial D is an anime, though, which means some j-pop in the soundtrack is almost inevitable. I've never actually seen the show. Some of this reminds me of music I’d listen to from Initial D. Is that Jpop?
I'll agree to that but only the current Girl's Day, with the current 4 members doing concepts more on the sexy side. Pretty much everything from "Expectation" onward.Nothing like girls day!
The trap here is that the two youngest are actually the two tallest members who can potentially still grow taller. Probably the two with the brightest future as well.I won't lie, they all look like kids to me. But damn that music is catchy.
I didn't watch the whole thing, I was initially somewhat upset with the whole AKB48 collab. I watched the first couple of episodes just to see the Japanese girls get told they suck by the judges which I wasn't disappointed by, and also to see the initial talent pool. The vocal talent on display was far inferior to what was seen in season 1 of Produce 101. Yeah a few girls could sing well but nobody was close to Sejeong or Yeonjeong. Yuri seems to be the best voice in IZ*ONE but she's still nowhere near those two. But I did notice the two Starship kids in their initial evaluation. They've got the visuals, they're tall, they can sing and dance well enough and have decent charisma and stage presence for such a young age, so I was sure they would make into IZ*ONE. I predict Yujin will be the next Suzy, while she doesn't look exactly like her, she totally gives off the same vibe and has enough vocal talent to have a solo career similar to Suzy's, though I suspect Starship will put her into a group with Wonyoung once IZ*ONE disbands first.Just got in after binge watching Produce 48 on Youtube. Plastic surgery is much rarer these days, it's not like 10 years ago. It's more frowned upon now, plus Korean makeup has made huge strides in the last 4-5 years. As for not understanding the lyrics, that's a poor excuse since other than SM all the other companies put English subs on their Youtube videos, you just gotta hit the CC button. There's also some songs that have English versions like Red Velvets "Bad Boy" or my favorite Kpop Christmas song which is totally appropriate for this time of the year (TTS is the best sub-unit ever btw):I'm into the girls singing kpop. They're the height of what can be achieved in the plastic surgery department. But the music? No. For starters I can't understand the lyrics.
I listen to this at least once a day
I haven't really gotten into watching award shows yet. That sounds pretty shitty. I just read on reddit that MAMAMOO got snubbed in several ways.MAMA is such a joke now. M-Net just gives undeserved awards to their own groups. Even the winning groups themselves are embarrassed and barely celebrate their win. IZ*ONE winning female rookie award over (G)I-DLE is already pretty ridiculous but Wanna One winning male group of the year after the year BTS had is just nonsensical.
I mean don't get me wrong BTS still won 2 Daesangs (prestigious Grand Prize awards) at MAMA for album of the year and artist or the year so they definitely got the recognition they deserved but still if you're gonna have a best male group category and have BTS as a nominee then they should probably win considering they won album of the year and artist of the year. Yeah MAMAMOO always seem to get shafted, but this year is just ridiculous because for me they were probably the female group that put out the best music this year, even if I didn't love their latest song the other 3 they dropped this year were all amazing:I haven't really gotten into watching award shows yet. Check out the first post for some stuff to start with.Man I've tried time and time again to get into KPop. I used to be into JPop. The Western culture is usually pretty weird about it so instead of having good recommendations I get "sexy videos." Someone help.

What sort of music do you like? I realize you said j-pop, but that could mean anything.
Hmm. I never listened to K.A.R.D., but I remember everyone in the other board going on about the latin niche they seem to be going for... or were going for. I haven't heard about them in a while.Yeah I've been looking through those.
I'm really into Latino, Hip-Hop, and Alternative. I would like to think my horizons are broad enough to enjoy anything that sounds good.
One of my favorite K-hip-hop tracks is Verbal Jint featuring Taeyeon "If the world was Perfect". Verbal Jint is a good rapper and Taeyeon's voice is always soul-soothing.Yeah I've been looking through those.

..2009/10 kpop, when kpop was at its best.
I'm into hip hop, too. Well I haven't really followed it as closely for a few years, but it was my genre of choice before. Ordering by "last modified," it looks like my music folder's most recent hip hop entry was Ghostface's Lost Tapes album... in October I was following Joe Budden's podcast for a bit, but it's like 2 hours a pop and my attention span is too fragile.I’m a hip hop head so idk much about kpop I tried to listen but it wasn’t for me, my fiancé likes listening to bts I heard they are huge right now.
