Aonuma: Zelda Wii U will challenge series conventions.

Legitimate complaints about overbearing hand-holding hint messages aside, don't worry Aonuma: no matter how much you change it, and equal portion of players will say it's just like every previous Zelda and boring, and an equal portion will say it's nothing like Zelda and has ruined the series forever.

I swear, Link could become a Koala bear in a space suit golfing on the moon, or it could be a 1:1 remake of A Link to the Past, overhead view, in 3D, and the percentage split of opinions wouldn't change either way.

I really liked the parts in Skyward Sword where I use the wiimote to aim shots.

I don't like the parts where it's my sword. So basically make a Zelda military FPS

I honestly wouldn't get my hopes up. If they didn't fix that shit between TP and SS, why would they now? >_>
Every time I find a new ingredient after starting the game up again... Dammit. :/

I hope they keep experimenting with different artstyles going into an HD format. I think that's one of the things I've come to appreciate (and expect) from Zelda now. Skyward Sword is quite gorgeous to me.

By the time this game comes out I'll most likely be married and have kids. And I doubt I;ll be doing any gaming. No point in anticipating this.

Lol, imagine if the wiimote could plug into the upad. Use the wiimote as your sword and the upad as your shield. Wait... they wouldn't have to plug in, the upad could just send its signal directly to the wiiu.

It's going to be Skyward Sword "evolved" with smarter tech.

Although I wouldn't be surprised if a tablet zelda is coming too. New Legend of Zelda obviously.

Played skyward, wasn't impressed. It was like playing OOT and encountering the owl at every possible moment. Couldn't take it so I stopped. Seemed a bit uninspired as well. Hopefully the Wii U one will challenge zelda conventions like MM did.

MM to me was perfection. Loved it.

I am missing the sarcasm because skyward sword is nothing like OOT. No more giant fields with meaningless enemies. Its all goodness. My favorite Zelda since A Link to the Past

Open ended dialogue system with alternate endings? They did this to some extent in some Skyward Sword sidequests and I would love for Link to take the Triforce and rule Hyrule with an iron fist as an alternate ending.

Aonuma here is a little tip, make it happen.

They said the same thing for SS.

Indeed. I'm sure Wii U Zelda will have a few new things added in, but won't shake up the formula very much, just like Skyward Sword. That's not a bad thing, but I'll bet it won't be the revolution that a few might be hoping for.

In all seriousness, I'd like to see a joint effort between EA Tokyo and the most recent Zelda team – take the best of both and make them work on a Zelda title together. That would introduced challenge, new gameplay additions, while still sticking to the best zelda core that I personally think Skyward Sword does very well.

With Aonuma back on as director.

Does anyone know yet if Miyamoto is actually going to be heading the project?

OH GOD, PLEASE!

You wan't Miyamoto to model some 3D characters? Auto-cad some 3D dungeons? The guy is a board of director and then a general manager. Just unrealistic for him to directly produce or direct a game when there are younger people who understand the technology much better than him.

but seriously though, i would appreciate some difficult puzzles next time. so give it to koizumi, aonuma.

I'm with you on this one. Koizumi deserves a shot. I also think SS showed a troubling lack of creativity in places, and a break from fifteen years of Zelda-making would only do good things for Aonuma when he decided to come back to the series.

I'm starting to think I don't even care. These games are infrequent enough that I just want a good game.

B-b-but! Voice acting! Gore! BOOBS!!!

Voice acting wouldn't change anything. It would be an added feature which will piss and please people (if done well, I will be very, VERY pleased though).

Gore and boobs though, those will change everything, EVERYTHING!!

Oh there's no way we WONT get a new 4 swords on that thing

The point of 4 Swords is kinda lost on WiiU since it can only support 2 upads max. An online 4 Swords would be great, though, and could still use the screen for displaying interiors.

the 4 wii motes will be the players. the pad will be the DM

Legend of Zelda, set in a more futurist setting, thousands of years after the end of the current time line. Skyward Sword showed that there might have been some advanced technology in the past, so why not the future?
Or the future could really be the distant past. :o
