on another note, i am disappointed but i think i might get one for my mom who will love it.

The point I'm trying to make is that something absent like that doesn't invalidate the purpose of the device. Y'all should bitch and scream over those things. I agree and it's that very reason (price) certain things aren't there. Not really rocket science.

iphoneOS has had built-in PDF support for generations now. you can bet your cookie the first thing on the islate that browses documents will handle PDFs flowlessly.MThanded said:Reading research papers on this thing will be great..... no mention of pdf reading support as of yet...
if you like that then check the dell mini 5 too (android). at least that latter runs an actual touch-based OS ; )I like the hp slate. Wonder what the price is going to be.

My thoughts on where this fits on the consumer acceptability scale.
Meh. To me, a tablet is a great way to browse the web around the house, and that's what I spend 90% of my time doing. Oddly, though, my Gateway spent 90% of its time in standard notebook mode because I do a lot of typing on here and FB, so even the fantastic handwriting software wasn't enough to keep me from the keyboard. Besides, I hate writing by hand. That's why I got a computer in the first place. Typing is better. Not sure how I feel about the touch keypad.Sriffat said:and so it begins

10 Reasons NOT to buy the iPad
No Multitasking
This is a backbreaker. If this is supposed to be a replacement for netbooks, how can it possibly not have multitasking? Are you saying I can't listen to Pandora while writing a document? I can't have my Twitter app open at the same time as my browser? I can't have AIM open at the same time as my email? Are you kidding me? This alone guarantees that I will not buy this product.

1. Does this support online shopping on various department store websites, or use online banking / bill payments?
2. Does this support Windows Live / MSN Messenger and able to run it in the background, while she's doing something else (such as looking at some site)?
As far as I can tell, above 2 are the most she does with her current laptop - other than paying the bills, and doing some excel spread worksheet for domestic budgets.
Thx in advance!
