Read some reviews of previous iphones. Reviewers put the phone through normal use and the numbers are usually pretty close to reality.

I sold phones for 15 years. I was there when MS was testing the windows phone and ran it through all its paces. I field tested the iPhone before it was launched. The talk time that is published is never remotely as high as they say it is.
