Are you keeping your current gen console(s)?

I'm keeping my consoles. Still have my PSX, GC, PS2x Xbox, Wii, PS3x Xbox 360 and noe Wii U all hooked up and in working order. I regretted selling my SNES and Genesis back in the day, so I ain't making that same mistake again.

My current gen consoles are 360, PS3, PS2, Wii, 3DS, and PSP. So... yeah. I kinda have to. lol

Sadly, both of my DS consoles died today.
I guess they won't come with me to the next gen. :(

I'm selling my 360 because I can get more money out of it and I can buy it later, once it becomes more retro for much less. Why not? I probably wouldn't touch it for years and it would also lose value.

This gen I was primarily on 360 and PC guy although I owned a PS3/Wii/WiiU since launch.

I sold my 360 a few months ago after E3. First, there was nothing in the pipeline I cared to play. Second, as an avid life long gamer I was simply pissed at Microsoft. No games I wanted to play + sour taste and that was that. If the 360 played blurays I would have held on to it as an extra player.

The beauty of it is that I have a nice backlog if PS3 titles that I am playing through at a very cheap rate. Hell, a lot of what I wanted to play was "free" from PS+.

I will be holding on to my PS3 as I still see great value in PS+ and having it as a bluray player.

No point in selling the Wii even though I have a WiiU. I soft modded it and have gotten a lot of extra mileage out of it.

I just end up buying them again later anyway, what's the point? The only console I've sold and have yet to buy back is an NES, and that's just coz I'm out of room right now.

only keeping the PS3.

I sold off the Wii after the release of Madworld, I waited for this game expecting it to be God Hand quality. But could not muster the waggle, so it was over for me for the Wii.

I sold off my 360 this spring. I'm done with MS

No, I've always regretted any time I've sold a past console so I make it a point to keep them going forward.

I have a monster backlog, and an even bigger collection of current gen games I will never part with.

So no, I'm not selling any current gen consoles. I did trade in about 40 games I didn't think I'd ever play, but they were all BF or clearance games, nothing important. I still have about 200 games for current gen home consoles.

Of course I will. I'm already in the process of buying older consoles back (especially N64) and I missed out on so much for the Wii and PS3, so I am going to keep those and buy the new consoles as well. Plus as I've learned from previous experience, I tend to regret selling my consoles.

What makes you a Sony fanboy if you don't like Killzone or InFamous? Uncharted?

Even if I only wanted to play third party games, I'd still be moving over day one. Why play jaggy slideshow PS3 versions of games you can play on PS4?

EDIT: I have Journey installed ready for it to be my last PS3 game.
I'm a fan of Uncharted, if that was there at launch I'd get one. I don't like the other two you've listed.

1886 is the most interesting first-party title to me and in terms of 3rd party MGSV and FFXV are my biggest wants. There's plenty of other games that interest me, all have far away release dates though.

You've made me realise it'd be more correct to dub myself a PS1/PS2 fanboy (tons of exclusives I liked back then and plenty of LTTP examples as well). For PS3 MGS4 and Naughty Dog's games were the only exclusives for me.

However if I had the money I'd get it without thinking even if none of the games scream out to me.

Yes, not everything has to be a full steam ahead march forward. Plenty of LTTP games and consoles to catch up on.

Current-gen basically ended for me yesterday.

Yup, I'm in a similar boat. Current-gen ended with GTA V. I'm pretty happy this gen lasted as long as it has, but when FIFA 14 becomes unplayable in career mode because of menu lag, it's time to move on. I'll be mopping up a few loose ends, but mentally I've already checked out of this gen.

Well, MGS5 is a ways off, but Ground Zeroes is really soon. It's multiplatform, so you can still play it on your current systems, but if you've got the cash at the time, who knows, treat yourself.

Keeping.

And probably buying a second new PS3 in the next six months too. If there was proper backwards compatibility going forward to next gen I'd maybe consider letting current gen go. But not short of money or space and I really enjoy replaying games.

Regarding people that will sell or have sold their consoles and games. Do you guys seriously not think you'll get the feeling to replay this gen's classics? Or are you counting on Gakai to provide that for you? Cheaper PS3 prices down the line?

I'll see from now till Xmas. I'm drawn between PS4, 3DS and WiiU haha. If I get a job I might even get 2/3 haha.

Been thinking about it. With GTA V done and dusted there isnt much thats holding me to them. I wanna keep at least one of the consoles though and that will most probably be the PS3 (better media, youtube etc). Only thing holding me back is that there isnt really that much resale value to a Slim 360 with a 60GB HDD. The 100-150 bucks or so I would get for it seems hardly worth the trouble. That money will go towards a new PC and it wont even fund half the cost of a GPU. :P

If I do sell it though, I will probably keep the games.

The answer is simple: If the person wants to play any of their current-generation games, they HAVE to keep their current-gen system, with the Wii being a semi-exception. If they are willing to part with all their games, they'll sell it.

I always keep my old consoles, even if I don't use them. For example I still have my ps1, even though I never use it anymore, as I can just play those games on ps2 or ps3.

I also still buy and play older games, so it makes sense to me to keep them.

I honestly can't say one way or the other. For the first time in my life, I am in a position where I don't need to sell my old shit to buy new shit; so while I can keep my PS3 and still buy a PS4, I know I won't be playing it once UPS delivers my PS4....

I'm surprised at the number of people who don't feel sentimentality or that they've wasted value by selling their stuff (way cheaper than the price they bought it).

Wow; and people wonder why YLOD occurred. haha
I know you're joking but in reality I reckon a lot of YLODs occurred because people didn't give their PS3s enough air space. Most of the heat comes out the back and most people have it facing a wall in enclosed space.

Ill keep them, probably not hooked up though, no space for that.

Unfortunately I have too many unplayed games for me to just get rid of them. PS3 also still has some releases even after the PS4 launch.

I think for the first time ever, I'm going to keep my current gen console for a while (PS3). Once PS4 gets up to speed on game releases, I might think of selling my PS3 (maybe to get money for the Wii U if it stops bombing by then).

I still have too many games I want to play on the current gen and I have quite a few games attached to my XBLA and PSN accounts so giving up those consoles would mean giving up those games as well. Unless I bought the eventual $99 SKUs down the line or something.

Sold it yesterday. I don't have the time to play old games anymore. I have a PS1 and a PS2 but never play any games on them. Wish I sold them when they were worth something.

Gave my 360 away to a relative.

Kept the PS3 slim, as I still have a huge backlog of games for that system that I still have to play. I figure once the initial lustre of playing a few mediocre launch games passes, I'll still probably be spending most of my console time with the PS3. Though I can definitely understand those who feel that this console generation has gone on for more than enough time, and are eager to get rid of the old and in with the new.
