This is like being in the middle of a war and asking what the outcome might be. Too much crap and fog of war in play.
The 'Nintendo is stepping aside to let 3rd parties find their space' argument seems like a convenient apologia to a very weak E3 showing from E3, but I have to admit it holds some sway because 3rd parties have been doing rather well on Nintendo platforms for several years now.
Also, taken together, the non-E3 3rd party announcements that Nintendo somehow failed to include in their presentation does paint a very strong picture for their offerings and lastly, the 3rd party presence on the show floor with titles for the Wii and DS is pretty strong. Of course this doesn't get reported on and goes into the 'impression' section of specialist sites.
