Assassin's Creed - Movie Trailer

I mean, it looks like Assassin's Creed. Alright. Cinematography in some of it was pretty good.

Song choice... don't need to beat the dead horse there. Kind of a bad trailer, and I'm still not sold on why this needs to exist really. I'm fine with fun movies being made and it could be fun, but I feel like I'd rather just play one of the games to get my fix and there's not exactly a shortage of those.

We'll see I guess. It just falls back on my main problem with game adaptations; like if they make an Uncharted movie... who cares? The games especially the newest one has legitimate film qualities with good acting, writing, and exciting action. I'm not sure what a 2 hour movie would really do for anyone.

I like how the internet is fixing the official trailer.

I'm still waiting on a good one. Nothing has had the impact of some of the better official AC trailers. The music never really lines up with the action all that well.

Revelations, AC3, and even Unity were all pretty damn good.

I actually laughed a bit when Kanye came in, it seemed ridiculous and out of place.

Movie looks too grim for my taste.

Funny that in the movie the future part looks interesting and the history part lame as fuck.

It looks surprisingly decent. Well the cgi looks dodgy, but Fassbender isn't chewing scenery, he seems to be giving it a real shot. All of the marketing makes it seem I'm at least fifteen years older than the target audience though.

Looks interesting. Hopefully we can finally have a good movie based on a video game.
That music was a total bullshit choice for a trailer though

More video game movie trailers with questionable music choices. The marketing teams just can't seem to get that they should market these like a normal fucking movie.

Why in god's name would you not use Jesper Kyd's music?

tbh it'd be super out of character for Hollywood marketing teams to utilize fitting elements in their marketing, and I'd be a little spooked otherwise.

Kanye is popular so cool hip people will see the trailer and think damn son Kanye hell yeah this gonna be sweet. At least this is the mindset behind it, which is about as logical as using My Hands for FFXIII.

Yeah, but the music is right there for you...

Just pick any theme from any of the games.

Horrendous. How could they honestly think that meshed?

Anyway, film looks alright, can't get that excited over it.

Yeah that look surprisingly good... except for the weird music. Whatever, kids love Kayne West, it's for the kids!!

What kind of action would you expecting from a series that's about parkour rooftop chases and flashy hand-to-hand?

I guess my problem was more with how the trailer was edited with all the flashy fast cut action that just seems so typical. It did really nothing to distinguish itself from your average action flick. But like I said I hope this trailer was edited just to appeal the masses and the actual film will be more memorable.

Looks hype honestly, actually pretty excited. Not a fan of the music choice but I liked the trailer overall.

Wonder who is composing the actual score.

Just like Prince of Persia, this movie looks to ignore the tone of the source material and ape only some of the aesthetics.

The problem with Kanye's music here is that it changes the entire tone of the series. Him babbling about him being a god doesn't fit well. Sure, they're maybe going for the whole "Abstergo playing god" or Fassbender being god, but it gives the wrong impression about the movie. The song should be about history and mystery and dread and adventure and curiosity and science fiction. Kanye's music comes out as arrogant and disdain to the series that has always had great trailers and great music. It gives the idea that Fassbender is going to pop in his Beats by Dre under the hoodie and proclaim that the A in Assassin's Creed stands for America. That and we've had too much of Kanye. That and the sampling/chanting in the song doesn't go well with the trailer at all.

I like the beat. I see what they're going for. But everything else doesn't fit. If they were going for Kanye, instrumental version would've worked.

Eh... I wish they would cut out the Abstergo/Animus plotline and just do a movie about the assassins and the templars during the Spanish inquisition. Those parts of the trailer looked a lot more interesting than the parts in the present.

I probably don't need to say anything about the music choice for the trailer.

Soooo, there were a few things still bothering me about my first recut of the Trailer combined with Woodkind's Run Boy Run, so i figured investing another hour in a fake version of an already existing trailer would be a good use of my time.

Assassin's Creed Woodkid Recut V2

Basically recut all of the last third of the trailer. After spending way too much time with this now, I really have to say that I'm digging what I'm seeing. Combined with the right music this really gives me the same atmosphere as the games do. Love the production values, love the actors, love the cinematograhpy - really hoping for an entertaining story, too.

And now, it's perfect. Thanks for taking the time, it's really good.

All this thread tells me is we need more rap music in movie trailers. It's an underused genre for movie trailers and I want to see more people upset.

Fuck me sideways. You did good shagg!

Thank you, red! :D

Mh, stylish but flat currently. They gave zero indication about the actual plot in the animus. Just people climbing on walls and jumping.

I actually would be more hyped for the movie if they showed a legit interesting plot in the past with no indication of the real world. Like, give me a Kingdom of Heavens caliber movie and hint the whole time that something is off, then have the real world reveal for the last third of the movie.
People knowing AC don't need to see the animus beforehand and I think it would be pretty cool. Trailer feels a bit too game-y / corny.

I don't think so; the tone of the AssCreed series is very varied depending on the writer. Jeffrey Yohalem's Syndicate and Brotherhood have a very different tone to Darby McDevitt's IV: Black Flag. I think the aesthetics are one of the few consistent things in the series and if they were going to "ape" something, it'd be that.

Finally an Assassins Creed with no bugs.....wait! Movies can have bugs too....oh I don't like the looks of this already...

Yes release it around the same time as Star Wars.

No it won't get destroyed.

Looks really meh if those were the best parts of the movie. Also terrible choice for music.
