Assassins Creed Valhalla - NEW GAMEPLAY - is this a day one purchase?

I have no idea why Ubisoft thinks demoing AC:V with that genderless freak is a good idea. This character design itself is poor, its implementation in the game is atrocious. Who wants to play as the female Eivor? I certainly don't and I loved Kassandra in AC:O.

To be fair its not just the main character that looks bad (look at the ponytail tip and the hairline on the pic above), all the character models are poor. This is just not current gen standard, let alone next gen.

imagine expecting anything from ubisoft
the fuck is wrong with you thread?

I personally don't think any Assassins Creed game is a day one purchase as they end up being $15 six months later. But that looks awful compared to Origins.

I got over the new AC gameplay with origins it was nice for a change of pace but it got old and odyssey is the same. I don't want to slash a guy 100 times and just watch a health metre go down. I wish they just went the ghost of Tsushima route. Gritty moment to moment action with a good combo system and fluid kill animations. I wanna feel when I'm hitting something and it
reacting in kind.

Sorry but this is embarrassing .. a game which is coming on NOVEMBER and still ( work in progress ) is sad for a company like Ubisoft , I mean if you aren't confident about your product then don't go wild with that marketing shit and when you show the first gameplay it hasn't even show a glimpse of the new stuff like animation, atmosphere and a lot to talk about .. it's copy and paste with changing only the tress and some building

This is of course my opinion but I'm not paying $20 on that Thing

It's good to see that they have finally nailed Anakin Skywalker's hairstyle in game.

On the one hand it doesn't look like a true next gen game, but on the other it does appear to be an upgrade from Odyssey, which I loved, and was the first AC game in the series I actually liked. I didn't finish Oddysey though because it was long as hell and started to get sameish after a while but I got 50 hours out of it which is more than enough bang for the buck for me. I'll probably pick this up once it hits $30 like I did with Oddysey.

Imagine playing Nioh or Sekiro.... Then playing this shit.

It's incredible that there are so many good japanese games for them to learn how to do a good melee battle system and animations.... Yet... They just keep pushing those terrible things...

Everything about this looks bad. Animations, Graphics, Performance, Combat. They really should delay this for a year.

It's probably going to be dogshit just like Odyssey. How many of these RPG, massive open world clusterfucks are we going to get before Ubi decides to go back to true AC?
I get it that some don't like Odyssey but the general consensus is that Odyssey was a superb game.

I've installed it yesterday and I'm gonna try it out, I've fiddled with the settings and it looks absolutely gorgeous on PC, now let's see if the reviews are right

Something seems wrong. I remember watching a video where they were explaining dual wielding different weapons that looked way smoother and the dismemberment looked nice.

that's so weird, same devs of Origins and Origins looks so much better that this imho

Wasn't the lead banging a sloot on the side? Maybe he was too distracted balancing two women that the game suffered for it.

Honestly? It looks like crap. Especially compared to it's biggest competition this year, Ghost of Tsushima. GoT is probably the best open world game I've played in years. And an AssCreed game hasn't wowed me since Black Flag.

The combat especially looks rough compared to Tsushima's quick and brutal melee system which Sucker Punch polished to near perfection.

Pc rtx 2080 ti probably and looks like ass lol imagine on ps4 and x1

All Ubisoft exist to do is shit out game after game of the same thing reskinned. There's no desire to craft anything unique, advanced or different. And they'll keep doing it all the time people keep hoovering up their gaming effluence. If they concentrated on one or two projects, and put as much effort as they can into them, we might just get a decent game or two out of them. As it stands they're a factory churning out endless derivative crap.

Doesn't this video make it look pretty good? Weird that it seems like the new one takes a step back. Anyway, I'm still on board for a purchase. This video makes me excited for the combat.

The series peaked with Origins. It was a false dawn.

Should have been put to rest after that instead of them taking the Origins formula and then copying and pasting it across new settings for future games.

I remember getting dog piled on the other site when I said animations look un-even. I thought it looked rough, and not fluid. Everyone was like, "it's early, it will get ironed out" I'm like they got less than 6 months animations are backed in at a certain point to where making big changes to animations would take a lot of re-tooling possibly even re-rigging.

This engine they are using seems like step back from previous AC games. And it's weird when you look at Odyssey's and Origins cutscenes which look good.

Feels rushed.

Wonder if they had issues or if Covid impacted them a lot more?

Welp, it doesn't look particularly exciting. Will check it out after a substantial price cut sometime next year.

What they did to England and the Vikings was a butchery. Plus it just lacks the charm and grandeur of ancient Mediterranean empires. For me Odyssey & Origins are very high up in the pantheon of gaming, but even so - this just fails to impress. The fact that it's also coming out near CP 2077 pretty much kills it for me, as that will without a doubt overshadow everything else done before it. Will take a look once it goes on discount next summer tho.

Just hope they're not shitting it out with DX11 again.

I had zero interest in this.

Until it was explained to me that a man's career was destroyed over an affair between two consenting adults.

Now I'm going to buy the limited edition version. FUCK YEAH!

TBH, it's been such a long time since I've bought any Ubisoft game. All their games have a certain flavour, that tastes like shit in my mouth.

Wasn't the lead banging a sloot on the side? Maybe he was too distracted balancing two women that the game suffered for it.

I thought about posting a joke regarding Ubisoft's recent #metoo shenanigans being responsible for this sh*tshow (i.e. visually it looks like Halo Infinite gave birth to AC Valhalla), but it's probably not entirely wrong to assume the behind-the-scenes drama might have had a serious effect here.

It's definitely not looking like a good showcase for a next gen console purchase. Back in 2013, Black Flag looked graphically much better on the next gen (current gen) systems than the 360/PS3 Ass Creeds, whereas here with Valhalla, I'm not seeing it. Bad framerate, mediocre animations, so-so textures, so-so image quality & some truly ugly character models.

Origins on the One X looks much, much better than this.

Video on OP seems to be missing a lot of frames. I understand presentations were remotely done, so this might be a reason why
This one looks better, even though still low resolution video:

no matter how you cut it though, after ancient Egypt and ancient Greece, this locale and setting will most probably be not as good

... I like the addition of myth and legend as it helps distance the game from the real life atrocities the Vikings conducted...

I lie awake in bed at night thinking about the atrocities the Vikings committed so I'm super glad Ubisoft has taken the necessary steps to distance its game from said atrocities.
