Assassins Creed Valhalla - NEW GAMEPLAY - is this a day one purchase?

The whole series needs to disappear for a few years and get a hard reboot into something similar to the new Hitmans. Go back to putting actual work into actual assassinations. Have each one take place in a dense and unique, single wide open area.

It's baffling to me why they never went that way in the first place instead of these mindless, reskinned, bloated, checkbox historical murder sims.

Doesn't this video make it look pretty good? Weird that it seems like the new one takes a step back. Anyway, I'm still on board for a purchase. This video makes me excited for the combat.

This looks a lot better. All those lores, blurry Youtube videos make the game look bad, focusing on that female brute is just dumb. Where are the 4K 60 fps videos? Origins and Oddysey were good games, they were also massive time sinks but I enjoyed and platinumed them both.Ubisoft is doing a piss poor job at making anyone interested for the new one.

With Ghost of Tsushima, Cyberpunk 2077 and Horizon Forbidden West out or out relatively soon, I don't see the need to settle for this.

I was kinda gaining interest in the new rpg spin of the AC series, but barely. I thought maybe I'd wait a few iterations of progress before jumping in. But Vahalla just looks like 2 giant steps backwards. The only thing they did right was pick a Viking setting.

lol don't judge next-gen based on freakin assassins creed :ROFLMAO:
I'm judging it off of everything we have seen so far (gameplay), which granted is very little. Not impressed yet at all. I know that early gen games are almost always lackluster, but I really think Covid is going to make this next gens launch games some of the worst ever.

Stop buying these shit games and maybe studios will stop making them and actual improve their output. Ubisoft is pure shovelware these days and they have no reason to change because their shovelware shit like watchdogs, asscreed, farcry, tom clancy etc.. selling millions.

i don't know...i think spidey morales and ratchet alone are better games than every launch on sony console since maybe ps1-ps2?

on ps2 we had tekken tag, x-squad, eternal ring, armoured core 2, kessen, ea trash sports, doa2
on ps3 we had lair, resistance, fight night 3, genji and some other shit
on ps4 we had infamous 3, knack, kz sf, bf4, resogun
on ps5 we have spidey morales, ratchet, kena, maybe DS remastered, every crossgen version of the various batman, re8 and other third party AAA and AA game.

It doesn't look that bad imo.

I don't know about you op but I don't have low standards to swallow all that janky and disconnected combat of AC games. Ubisoft should have improved Unity's combat and that would be 10 times better than what we have here.

Looks awful, I will only play it if I get it for free. Even then Im not sure.

This hasnothing to do with being an Assassin....

The combat mechanic is pretty fun.. but they made no progression from the other games. They do this with every new generation. Like warm release. And THIS one could have been amazing

I was excited for this when I heard it was to take place in Norway (and England) with Vikings. The lore and mythology has tons of room for plenty good stuff. But while the combat looks refined, everything else looks like a reskin to me (next gen versions better be 4K 60Hz at least..). The character designs are atrocious. The NPCs looks lazy, female Eivor looks stupid and has no personality other than the familiarity of a TLOU2 type female tank.

Will pre-order the Assassin's Creed Valhalla Gold Edition digitally once I have Xbox Series X which should be November 6th as im all in with the game. Have been an Assassin's Creed fan since Black Flag and I loved Origins/Odyssey so this is an easy pre-order for me. Only negative is that I do believe the game will get delayed to February/March but this is my own personal feeling.

Damn, that looks good!

The hate for Ubisoft is clouding judgment I see
:pie_thinking:

Looks really good, but like all Ubi games I'll probably wait, because in a years time I can get the 100$ all in version with expansion pass for 25$ and the dlc will be out too.

The female lead has the most punchable face in gaming since Bubsy.

Anyway, game looks like last gen generic trash.

Haven't played an AC game since Black Flag so I'd like to grab this alongside an XBSX at some point. I'll be pissed if Ubi have made King Alfred some cartoon bad guy though.

I love nordic/viking themes. I would have expected this to be an instant buy for me.

Oh boy does that look like crap though. Hard pass.

Next time they work on a game with 1000 employees, please make sure at least a few of them have some sort of background in art design and/or animations.

I wonder why they can't implement their motion matching system in AC. To this day For Honor is the only game where they used it, seems like a waste. Sigh, maybe in next fully next-gen game.

I get it that some don't like Odyssey but the general consensus is that Odyssey was a superb game.

Honestly if it was like 10-20 hours long and without the RPG bollocks it would be fine. The game feels like it goes out of its way to waste the player's time for the majority of it.

Considering I still have Origins and Odyssey in my backlog and they don't even crack my top 10 of backlog games to play, this game will be lucky to be a day 1095 purchase.

Honestly, why do they even call these games Assassins Creed anymore? They left the story behind a long time ago. It barely resembles it anymore. They just need to tie whatever strings they have together into a crumpled bow and put the series out of its misery.

Hey, Ubi. Time for some new franchises and new formulas, or how about you just resurrect some old ones?

Origin was godly, dlc where great.
AC odyssey base game was lackbusting, dlc was godly
Valhalla looks like straight up trash.

It looks worst than unity lol

Except Unity is actually one of the best out of the series taking it back to more of its proverbial roots. Once the bugs and shit got ironed out it became a hell of a good actual Assassins Creed game. Arguably the last one of its kind before it went full retard floating numbers action RPG.

Not a good video. Would need to see 4k. But I'm exhausted from AC tbh. Maybe if they made a Japan setting, I'd consider it. They've been avoiding that for too long.

We heard you the first time lol

Doesn't look great. As others have said, the Ass Creed series needs to return to its roots. Odyssey seemed incredible for the first dozen or so hours, but the damage sponge enemies, samey looking quests/environments, and endless list of tasks to complete just make it feel like a job to get to the end. These new AC games are the definition of vast as ocean, deep as a puddle.

New gameplay footage from Assassins Creed that shows the protagonist fighting some of the mythical beasts from English folklore.

Personally I like the addition of myth and legend as the it helps distance the game from the real life atrocities the Vikings conducted... but the game appears to lack polish. Animations, frame rate, graphics aren't as good as I'd expect from this release.

For me, this has gone from being a day one purchase to a wait and see. Take a look at the footage, what do you think?

I loved AC Odyssey, but this looks too old already.

It seems the game is more about England than Viking mitology....i liked Origins and Odyssey but will skip this since it does not improves from previous games, basically you are playing Odyssey with Viking skin....

Yeah but to be honest most open world games are like that besides a few, they tend to drag a lot. I gave up on witcher 3 for that reason as well. I thought that horizon zero dawn had the perfect balance between main quest and filling.
