Assassins Creed Valhalla - NEW GAMEPLAY - is this a day one purchase?

New gameplay footage from Assassins Creed that shows the protagonist fighting some of the mythical beasts from English folklore.

Personally I like the addition of myth and legend as the it helps distance the game from the real life atrocities the Vikings conducted... but the game appears to lack polish. Animations, frame rate, graphics aren't as good as I'd expect from this release.

For me, this has gone from being a day one purchase to a wait and see. Take a look at the footage, what do you think?

If this has no 60fps mode on PS5 I'm not even touching it and I say that as a hardcore fan.
They have strayed far enough from what AC really is, if they decide to add insane tech incompetence to that I'm out.
Ubisoft needs to step up. And soon.

It's probably going to be dogshit just like Odyssey. How many of these RPG, massive open world clusterfucks are we going to get before Ubi decides to go back to true AC?

Something is wrong with the video. I've seen other games from gamesradar that were uploaded and they all have stuttery/low framerate if that's your issue. As for the game itself, it's just Odyssey in a different skin with incremental upgrades. I'm going to buy it naturally as I always bought every single AC game despite their issues but day one? That's impossible with Cyberpunk releasing as well. If CP gets delayed, it's day one.

It's pretty ridiculous that Odyssey stuggles so fucking bad performance wise even on PC considering it's game world doesn't even look as good as past entries that run way better.

It's particularly impressive how they can shit the bed so hard with huge budgets and literally thousand of devs working on this title...

These guys need to take a break and come out with a game after 4-5 years of hard work, 2 years are not nearly enough to polish these gigantic games.

Bigger teams are worse. Literally no one really cares about this franchise I'm sure, it's all corporate at that scale.

Big teams are great when you have a clear project and especially TIME.

look what rockstar and ND achieves after years of hard work and they have big\gigantic studios.

Ubisoft is the black sheep of gigantic studios not the norm...ok maybe 343 are giving them a run for their money right now...

You say the game is lacking in certain areas, and yet it clearly states work in progress.

I haven't played an Assassins Creed since 2, I would find these games way more interesting if they greatly improved the combat.

Damn it looks shocklingly bad, I honestly think that Oddysey and Origins looks amazing for time when it was released.

Sad that my favorite mythology is being butchered into something so lame.

Get back to the non-RPG action oriented games you dolts.

Hard to believe, but even this clunky mess is still light years better than the old combat system with the counter de dios...the knly thing better in the old ones were the animations.

Hopefully the frame rate jank might be attributable to the video itself. It feels like the past six months whatever hype is building for next gen is constantly being sucked away by the pixel-vision livestreams which makes everything look awful. Publishers really need to just set a premiere time then put out videos at 4K, this livestreaming stuff is making next gen look poor.

The bane of having to release a game in the same year that Naughty Dog already released a game.

It will sell well like all AC game do, but for me it looks extremely rough, 2014 graphics, generic and like it is designed around yet another open world with unimaginative timesink sidequests and objectives.

(My words may sound a bit harsh here and I swear I don't want to shit on anyone's enjoyment of this game. I think it just doesn't look like a lovingly crafted game for me, but rather like an assembly line product)

For me odyessy runs like every Ubisoft game which is...good?

Totally agree, the last 3-4 iterations of the franchise should never have even been called AC. Syndicate, Odyssey, Black Flag could ALL have been separate IPs.

I like the lore & myth but damn the animation looks janky. I felt the modelling is worst than the Odyssey.
This will be the first AC I will wait for sale and not day one.

Honestly looks like an expansion to Odyssey.

I enjoyed Origins and Odyssey became slowly frustrating for me, definitely skipping this one especially with next gen coming by

I have no idea why Ubisoft thinks demoing AC:V with that genderless freak is a good idea. This character design itself is poor, its implementation in the game is atrocious. Who wants to play as the female Eivor? I certainly don't and I loved Kassandra in AC:O.

Usually pick up the ultimate editions of these games when they go on sale for $30. Pretty low interest in this one though.

It seems Ubisoft is being strong armed into doubling down to the woke making the Viking Female Ugly/Rough/Perfect, the"Main" Character.

I just finished playing Odyssey (what a freaking anti climactic ending, btw), I enjoy playing the AC games, but can't play more than one every two or three years.

By the way, the game just kept on asking me to do gay shit, it's hilarious. I was playing as Alexios and a lot of the characters just go "ohhhhh, want to have fun?" out of nowhere. You tell the game "no, thank you" a few times and that's fine, but eventually you have to ask, couldn't they implement something to track your answers and have the characters stop offering sex like thirsty queens in a gay bar? It gets really obnoxious at one point.

This really flamboyant dude in the game tried to fuck my character like 3 or 4 times. #AlexiosToo. :D

No chance. Game looks doo doo and I'm not spending £60 on a game Ubisoft have shit out solely to capitalise on a new gen launch.

Hard pass.

I hope one day someone will take this franchise back to its roots, ditch rpg progression mechanics, enemy level scaling, loot and hitbox combat in favor of a next-gen rendition of the vision that gave birth to Altair
