Audiosurf on Steam NOW! Feel the waves.

I logged in for the first time in a week or two and the game seems pretty busted. I can't login using my name....if I click "Log In" the game just hangs on a greyed out screen. Anyone else having the same problem?

Plus, it takes minutes for the game to load instead of 20-30 seconds. Uggggh. Whatever they did to update the game has thrown everything out of whack.

Either you have a good memory (for block positions) or you're a natural. I wish I was one of the two >.>
 
Memory does factor into it a bit (which is why I don't make a habit of posting first runs), but as I've said before, it's mostly just a matter of twitch skill. The skills it takes to play Audiosurf aren't all that different from what it takes to play Quake or TF2 or any other high speed FPS.

Really liking the ambience stuff though, very smooth on Ninja Mono.

Gave DJ Shadow's Building Steam with a Grain of Salt a go to see how far off I was off Tekno's score and if I hadn't fucked up a segment I would've beaten him on the first go. Another nice song to play too.
 
Is anyone else having trouble with the server, I've had trouble connecting to the leader boards all weekend. My last 4 scores weren't even registered, and my internet connection is fine. :(

At least, I remember getting sniped by you a lot >.>
 
Holy hell, I finally got to play this today.

WOW.

This + NIN (specifically The Fragile & The Downward Spiral) = so fucking awesome.

I'm playing it big screen, 5.1 surround & comfy couch style, what a fucking great game, the XBLA kiddies would bust a nut over it. Is there wheel support? I'll be getting a new logitech for GT5 and I'd love to try this with it.
 
This game isn't loosing any of it's long term viability for me so far, which is amazing since I've put a ton of time in. It's just so easy and fun to get into.

It's a bite sized game. It's the kind of thing you can just say "oh hey I got a new CD I wonder what that'll be like" or "Oh you know I haven't tried x song" and you play for 10-15 minutes or whatever and it's no big deal.
 
How do you guys make videos of your runs?

When I recorded a run with Fraps the file ended up being 1.8gigs :\
I ran it windowed and had Fraps only taking half the screen size at 30fps

Any pointers?

Compress it using something like windows video 9 at like 83% quality and that should drop the filesize dramatically. Thats how I do my WoW FRAPS. I was able to take a 40gb FRAPS to 1.1GB.

ok i have windows media 11 installed, is the thing you use the windows media encoder 9 software?

would I have to reinstall media 9

I'm a terrible sniper. After scout it's my least played class. You must've been really unlucky on one of the odd occasions I did give it a go. :lol

I compress the raw videos with VirtualDub, myself.
 
THat's what I'm wondering.
I just installed Windows MEdia Video 9 VCM but I don't know how to use it.

What the fuck? Yesterday I was running Fraps and playing and it was running great. Now it's going at like 20fps even though nothing has changed since I did it yesterday. Fuck it, I don't even want to bother with this stupid shit anymore.

I never ever even heard of this game until a friend of mine mentioned it to me today, i brushed it off at first because i'm really not into music games, but ten bucks was the selling point for me. I rarely even buy shit from steam so i was new on there turf. but when i started reading through this thread i knew i had to nab it.

It should have the backwards compatibility. I'm not sure what WMP I have installed but I think it's past 9. I use Sony Vegas to encode them. I just choose .wmv and in the video options windows video 9. Then there is a slider for quality 79-83% looks pretty good for my WoW stuff. (can read the text in my chatboxes)

But I have a quick question about FRAPS. Through both sound options in FRAPS I only get it to record my microphone. It was really lame to do really well and then watch it to only hear my self breath. Kinda creepy too. I already have my default sound in my control panel set to my digital output. Any ideas?
 
New Update:

Added separate volume controls for menu music, game music, and sound effects

Added new Mono Pro vehicle with jump fins (was in previous update)

Play Double Vision with X360 controller and Mouse (or X360 controller only)

Added "resend score" button in the event of a timeout

Increased score submitting timeout duration to 22 seconds

"Sharp corners" tweak now applies to ironmode only

Also, Seven Seas of Rhye by Queen is a pretty awesome song for beginners. Far too easy for me now, but the track design is awesome.

I wish there was an OST for Brawl so we could all be playing the same versions of the songs instead of the dozens of different game rips floating around.

I seem to be in the groove again. I'm second on Pro for Delusional Extremeties now. Almost got a Stealth except for one block right after one of those crazy corners. Still wouldn't have topped Hitokage's crazo score. I'm not good enough for Elite :(

Edit: Dammit 95k. Did it again and I only got 89k. This might take a while. Maybe some other time.

And you'll be a better person for it.

You should never be using shurikens anyways. Hitting a block costs you a ridiculous amount of points and removing it costs a further 777.

Fins just kind of ruin parts of the game by allowing you to just press a button and collect things, when you should be weaving around to grab them.

Iron mode is more fun, trust me.
