What's peoples' preferred controls for this game?

I've been using the mouse mostly, just feels right. I don't like how the ship warps to the next lane when using the arrow keys.

either "s" and "d" for pro or mouse for elite.

I use the mouse. Just prefer the ability to sweep from the far left to the far right in one smooth motion. That and I can get as close to other lanes as possible without hitting additional blocks.

I'm by no means playing these tracks flawlessly or even picking up all the better scoring colors I can, so seeing that kind of discrepancy makes me think either the ninja mono guys were even worse than me, or ninja mono just blows for real high scores (except for those dirty, dirty cheaters on the Dr. Wily track).
Yeah, I've played both ninja mono and pusher on the same songs and almost every time my pusher score will be better, even if I have a perfect run on ninja mono. They need to split the scores, in my opinion. Ninja mono can't compete with the other scores in most songs. Maybe that would actually give me a reason to play mono.

Mouse. I find it easier and it's just more enjoyable, especially with pusher.

So, I just played through the entirety of Weird Al's Running With Scissors.

Fun times.

i use arrow keys because i play this on a laptop in bed. not too easy using the stupid pad. this games hard though...i think i need to learn the strategies to getting higher scores. like how am i supposed to make bigger combos or whatever? they disappear after 3...does it just depend on how soon i get another block in there?

Pretty much. I just look ahead while the track is playing to see blocks I can rack up for a score. If I was a quicker thinker I'd also stack them so that one combo sets up another, but for the most part I only do that with regards to white blocks.

I play with the mouse, and I probably always will. Just too nice to play that way.

I'm currently the world leader in "Every planet we reach is dead" from the Gorillaz.
I'm also the champion for "beauty is within us" from Scott Matthew (He did Lithium Flowers, the ending song for Ghost in the shell: Stand alone complex)
I'm so happy, :)

Ooo. You're going down sonny!

In other news, getting slightly better at Eraser.

so like, i assume he didnt do any special powers or anything like that? it all seemed to go too fast to be moving blocks or anything. and whats stealthed? =/ i just got the game..go easy.

He played in Ninja mono mode which requires you to dodge the grey blocks and get the colored ones. And stealthing is a medal you get when you complete a song without hitting any grey blocks.

You use anything besides ninja mono, and I will never admit defeat.
bring it foo!!!
:lol

I did Eraser first, then did Ninja Mono Ironmode to see how I would've gone against you - so in all fairness you did beat me in the Ninja Mono mode.

You basterd.... I'm still champion. ;)
They really need to split the score boards based on type.

I need something I can play in short bursts and I'm poor.

Fuck it I'm in on this shit.

Screenshots to follow of my mad
awful
scores.

So how many hours have ya'll played so far?

I've clocked about 14 hours in so far and I feel like i'm just getting started. Haven't touched some of the modes and theres alot of music I still want to try out

yeah, top spot on Pro on the first try with Confusion from New Order ... awesome track, a hell of a ride. :D

Which version though, the original 12 inch or the re-recorded version on Substance?
How does Audiosurf handle things like that?

don't know about these versions, I've got the Pump Panel Reconstruction Mix from the Blade Soundtrack.

Audiosurf is only checking the ID3 tag. Well, I did an artist search for "New Order" in Audiosurf, and the track with the fitting length was just tagged as "confusion" there.

I attempted Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata the other night. It was quite amazing. Slow, but so awesome. I really need to get me some more classical music to try with this game. D:

10.5 and I don't think I'm anywhere near being done with it.

7.1 hours! wow... I guess it all adds upp. You play a little here and a little there. It's so easy to play some old favorite. Or not so favorite, it is still fun! Gonna try to find my old MC hammer cd and import it. Anyone else feeling for some hammer time? :D

joyst!q has a video interview with the creator. He says a console port would be a natural fit...

Yeah, I'm meticulous about my tags, especially with mixes of songs, so on a lot of stuff, I'm the only person.

Case in point is Cotton Eye Joe by Rednex. The most classic version of the song is 5+ minutes, the Super Boots Mix, but that's not tagged correctly on any but mine.

lol i don't have any of my radio mixes properly tagged. One of these days someone is gonna swoop along with club mixes and wreck people's scores.

I just tried some They Might Be Giants songs.

Surprisingly awesome. I haven't listened to TMBG for a long time. I forgot how strong some of the beats tend to be. <3

Good thing the emails are back, I was able to swiftly reclaim my pro throne on Search & Destroy. Oh, and I like using §-1-2-3-4 instead of the mouse or ASDF. It's just easier to use different buttons for the lanes (and you don't have to keep them pressed down).

GAF Audiosurfers who've tried some Persona 3 music, I'm sorry. I just crushed the elite record for Mass Destruction. I'd screenshot it but my print screen key is being retarded, or windows is, or something.

This game is surprisingly awesome. My favourite song with it has to be Don't Hold Back - the Potbelleez. It starts right at the top and goes downhill all the way

I was surprised, I played King Ring by Seryoga and Arm in Arm (Shy Child remix) by the Boggs (the two songs from the GTA trailers) and a lot of people have been playing them too. Good to see how popular GTA is in such an obscure way :P
