Thoughts on today/yesterday's episode:

Quite disappointing seeing that the tribal was that one sided at the end. I'm wondering why getting JL vote wasn't even an option, do we have any background on this? Why is she working for Nick?

There are plenty of cracks in the big alliance, so I hope it starts falling appart soon. I definitely don't want Kate to leave this soon.

They're far too juvenile and arrogant for my liking. Everything from the friendship bracelets to "I'm not even going to talk to Kate" to Brooke following Connor and Sam.

Having sais that, Connor deserved to go home for not bothering to sort his alliance, and for being far too afraid of conflict. He had plenty of opportunities before and at Tribal Council to throw someone else under the bus and he didn't. For a superfan, I'm super disappointed in his strategy.
 
The friendship bands is a huge signal that whoever has one is going to the final 6. Anyone without one was a huge dumb dumb to not vote against the alliance.

Whole game is full of goats.
 
Sammy the bimbo ended up voting for Conner LOL, seriously this guy didn't even get the hint that the merge was just about to get announced! Then he just got too easily convinced to vote against Conner seriously.

Kylie too wussy to vote against her non-alliance.

It was a good episode, but I really hope things get shaken up soon. Go Kate!

Just watched the episode, sad to see Conner got I liked him and even more sad that Kate is probably next. Hopefully the alliance gets a shuffle up.
 
Wow, I just watched episode 5.
Holy twists, Batman! Some of the twists rivalled American Survivor
. Now I am really hooked.

It's actually a horrible play...it clearly shows that Brooke has no trust in Sam.

Sam should have been seriously questioning the position of the alliance going into the merge, he's not very good strategically but would easily win if any of his alliance took him to the final 3..ie, they'll vote him out as soon as they have control of the game and he is no longer needed.

He needs to play with players that trust him and have his back. (Brooke, Flick and Nick have shown they are snakes.)

Kylie and Lee are both absolute fools. At least Sam voted for Nick. Kate was on fire at tribal council, was sad to see her go. So many unlikeable people left in the game right now that I really dont even feel like I have anyone to root for at the moment. Go Sue, I guess.

Sam: "I don't wanna play the game that way, but I'm also going to play the game that exact way"

Seriously they are all the worst. Just because you think your cause is just doesn't make you not big goddamn hypocrites.


And worst of all, Kate was eliminated. What is my reason to watch? She was my sun and stars. There's really nobody left that's likeable enough to root for. Kristie is ok at least because she's odd but I wouldn't want her to win.

I kinda love Nick still but he can't win and I mostly just can't wait to see how deep his rabbit hole of unawareness goes.

El and JL are straight up invisible and irrelevant.

Matt... seems ok? Sometimes?

Flick/Brooke are bitchy but at least they're playing smart. I do hope that they get some comeuppance soon but it seems like "Honesty and Integrity" will get the two most conniving people to the end anyway.

Kylie is the woooooorrrrrrrrrrsssssssssssssssttttttttttttttttttt. I can't stand when people just play to extend their game a couple of votes instead of actually trying to win. Lee isn't far behind with his commitment to a terrible situation but at least he still has the advantage.

If Nick wasn't still harping about getting voted out I'd have agreed so much with his calling out of the "Pious" alliance. I mean the "bad guys" haven't done anything besides be consistent with their voting. For the love of God they split the votes unnecessarily while the minority alliance could've taken advantage and didn't.

Seriously what on Earth is Kylie hoping for? It's blindingly obvious that there is a hierarchy and she is agonizingly low on the list. I do wonder what people like Matt/JL will do when the going gets tough and their heads are on the block.

I'm just praying that somebody can flip Brooke/El/Flick or else they would be rivaling the sheepiness of Rob's winning season.

Edit: Why didn't they have a backup when it became quite clear that Nick was using his idol?

A shame Kate is gone, she really did everything she could in that tribal.
 
Watching these people play is so frustrating. They don't think ahead and are just waiting to be voted out by the core alliance.

Sam is painfully clueless on how this game is played, it's simply tragic. The look on his face when JLP said that the person voted out would be part of the jury was as vacant as when he was confused about the obvious merge. And as much as he goes on about keeping Sue in the game, doesn't he know that they eventually have to kick them out? Why do people get so uptight about boot order? God, I can't wait for Sam to go.

I'm gonna miss Nick, he has a similar Survivor philosophy to me, especially with the "deserving" nonsense. But I really, really, want to know why Nick got this "snake" title attached to him, because people (especially Sam) really seemed to base it on hearsay. But I love the amount of love Nick has for the game and how he was "geeking out" as his torch got snuffed.

And really Lee? You can only go against your alliance when others agree to toss someone from the alliance under the bus? Whatever happened to loyalty?

If this isn't a wakeup call to the periphery of the alliance then they deserve all of the snuffing that they'll get.

Despite the sub-par strategic play, I am really enjoying the immunity challenges as I'm a fan of endurance challenges. But I do hope they throw a puzzle in there soon.

And let's not talk about how he alienated JL and Sue. For being a superfan, he is a really mediocre player, doesn't seem to know how to treat people to have his trust. He made for ok TV though, but I'm happy that we are going to get more focus on the other players now.

I was looking forward to how the merge was going to affect the tribe dynamics, but it has been so boring so far, people chocking everywhere. I'm still enjoying the season, but not because of the gameplay.

I love the challenges in this, 6hrs on the pole is insane. Everyone waiting for them must've been so bored!

That was a messy tribal but I'm glad Jonathan is a bit more agressive at getting answers than Probst. Nick's speech was exactly what Kate already told Sam and Lee so if they don't start playing then they're basically just waiting for their turn to be voted off.

I feel like in hindsight it was allowing the blue tribe to handpick their members that has spoilt the later part of the game. Some of the best game players were in the yellow tribe but they didn't stand a chance of making it to the merge simply because they had to vote one of their own every time. The few that did make it still have no chance because they dont have the numbers. Blue tribe have just been chilling the whole time and aren't bothered about making big moves. They're comfortable picking off the outsiders not realising that they will be on the outside next.

I'd generally call that playing the game of Survivor, I think his problem was these "morally upstanding" people and he didn't read the room. He really just overplayed way too hard, too open, too quickly especially with group of people that don't really seem to appreciate big moves. Also, the people in power haven't needed to make big moves to get where they are.

Sam openly tried to flip on his alliance on a bunch of hearsay. And they were probably going to vote him out even before they he found the idol, so I don't even think it mattered that much. Also, didn't Nick have an accomplice with him when he lied about the initial idol?

I do agree that he handled the JL/Sue situation very poorly, he really didn't need to go on his revenge quest, especially since they would naturally be whittled down due to being on the outside. But he actually told them that he wanted to vote out Barry instead of Teagan, so he didn't even go behind their backs and they talk about lying and deceiving. If they are in an alliance why can't he try to influence people without being called a snake?

I really think they vastly overstated his snakiness while they're not any better themselves, which annoys me with their grandstanding.

But anyway, there wasn't a chance on earth he was winning with those players on the jury and it'll be fun to see him there.

So ends the rant of a Nick fan lol.

On an unrelated note: as much as I hate the whole loyalty/integrity/honesty nonsense, I do appreciate how much everybody are good sports about getting voted out despite playing for such a long time.
 
I actually think Lee is being quite smart and is the only person playing for the end jury.

If he sticks with the good guy persona and wins a challenge to go up against one of the three girls he is a winner.

This assumes that Lee makes it to Top 4/5.

I've got a feeling that Brooke/Flick/El are likely to continue to use Kylie as their easy 4th to help bump Sam/Lee.

Jenna Louise, Matt, Kristy and Sue are quickly running out of opportunities to flip the game - problem is they need one or both of Kylie/Lee to do it. And while they have both considered it the past few episodes, both have immediately gone back and spilled their guts to the core alliance
 
The editors have done a bad job of making the likely core finishing group likeable at all. Hard to root for anyone left.

These people are legit not trying anymore, whhhhhhhhhyyyyyyyyyy did it come down to Kylie and Sue? Is voting for Brooke/El/Flick against the rules or something? How can literally everybody think that they are running the show and not do anything about it? I swear if somebody tries to do a big move now...

Edit: And nobody even looks for the hidden immunity idol I mean ffs, you're on the chopping block whether you look for it or not.

get voted off has been the only highlight, and that's because they did an okay job making him a villain.

Well, at least Kylie is now out. She has been in the bottom since day 1 and she still didn't do anything to fix it, she even made it worse telling them information. I guess now we have to wait to the inevitable 3 girls vs 2 guys face off, that I hope happens rather sooner than later.

I think it's also a big factor how long this game is, they are at what? Day 38/39? And still 9 people left. It's impossible to be on top of everything with that many people, so it's normally the people that ended up in a good position early on with the tribe swap still carry that advantage.

I still have high hope of at least one from outside of the five sneaking in and getting to the final.
 
As frustrating as it is to watch, I think that the "Mean Girls Alliance" are pretty much playing the perfect game. It seems that nobody outside of the core 5 actually talk to each other - they just talk to one of the 3 girls. Which is why they can't coordinate an attack.

Everyone knows the hierarchy, but everyone is just hanging on, hoping for Top 7 on the off-chance that Sam/Lee will decide to do something (which they won't because they're just failed Bachelor(ette) contestants, who are clueless about how Survivor is played).

I think the only surprise left in the game, is whether Brooke or El wins final immunity and drags Flick along as the easy beat for the $500k.

I think that voting Kylie out may be a mistake though. She was a guaranteed vote for the 3 girls - and has proven that she'll even report back any plans from the outsiders. Sure she is an immunity challenge threat, but I don't think she has had the social game to win many votes if she somehow makes it. IMO, they should have kept Kylie to be a 4th vote to boot Lee/Sam, and then get rid of her next opportunity.

Also, fuck all the gimmick twists the producers are throwing in. Fake vote swap, kidnapping, exile. I'm half expecting a couple of Redemption Island votes, or some intruder bullshit as well before the season is over. It's a bit over the top if you ask me.

There is no way you can call what they are doing a perfect game. It is all out in the open, everyone..if they just opened there eyes and played the game...can see it a mile away.

Everyone else is just too dumb to play the long game and are only looking to make the next tribal council. Lee and Sam are just following orders when they should be looking to form a new core group so they are the top dogs...but they'll just get voted off at some point down the line because they are morons...

It's hard to keep watching when the American survivor is so polished and people have some intelligence.
 
This is getting painful to watch. Everyone who is not in the core 3 is just floating along waiting for their turn to be blindsided.
Even Matt, who knows he is on the outside, didn't bother to look for the idol. It's like they've given up already.
 
I can imagine the desperation of Phoebe and Kate trying to make a power move with some of these weak players. You just can't. It is suprising seeing Sue as the only one outside of the three girls alliance aiming at winning the game, and not playing for someone elses game.

In hindsight, the "pick your tribe" twist was probably not a very good idea, we lost several potential interesting players because of it.
 
All these people putting friendships above actually winning. I'm not sure why they even bothered to apply if they aren't going to try and be a bit strategic about it.
 
It's like the American Survivor mentality that was rampant for the first bunch of seasons:

1) Get your alliance
2) Vote people outside your alliance
3) Never question your position within the alliance
4) If you are running the alliance - profit
 
The thing that surprises me the most is that despite Jonathan exposing the alliance in every single tribal with the loaded questions, plus the super weak answers (I had to roll my eyes at "it's just friendship, it has nothing to do with the game" from Flick to open the tribal), nobody seems to see it.

Maybe someone would start thinking that "if they were lying to Nick Kylie all this time, making her believe she was part of the alliance, maybe they are doing the same to me?".

Why is this people not comparing notes? Matt already knows that Flick was playing multiple sides with that conflict with Conner early on.

Wake up, people!

No we didn't. They could have not voted out Rohan and Craig and not kept Kat, Sue and Kristie etc.

That's pretty much much my opinion, they sunk their own tribe by their own doing. Saanapu wouldn't have lasted long either if they potentially kicked off Sam or Lee first.

And for me at least, the pick your own tribe really wasn't as bad as the results suggest. If they picked Craig/Rohan instead of JL then I'd agree. But as it was Vavau had Rohan/Craig and Saanapu had Sam/Lee as powerhouses, and the challenges were still close. Heck, if they only picked one out of Sam/Lee then I think they would have been devastated. A random pick of tribes wouldn't ensure parity and could have resulted in 3 of the power guys being in one tribe which would have been even worse imo.

lol Matt. I can't wait to see his face when he eventually gets voted off by his "alliance". JL needs to go on a Tasha streak of winning immunity if she wants to stay in the game.
 
Absolutely loving JL at the moment. It's nice to see some attempt at "different" gameplay.

The 3 girls are playing well, it doesn't matter if everyone knows they're on top and aren't doing anything about it. The fact is, somehow they are still convincing everyone to vote their way. I wouldn't call it perfect, but collectively they are definitely playing the best.

Of the three,
Brooke
would be my vote.

Outside of the core 5, I actually think
Kristy
is playing as best as she can. It's not impossible for her to make it to top 6, then flip Lee and Sam out. Then she could theoretically defeat either of the 3 girls in Immunity Challenges to get to the final.

I think

Yeah pretty much resorting to that myself. I thought he was good at reading the situation initially but he's now just about due to join the long line of people do didn't realise they were on the bottom of their alliance.

Well that was a load BS and dashed dreams. And unless Kristie wins immunity, I'm not holding my breath on her survival.

Can't believe that Vavau was the first tribe eliminated though.

The whole episode was building up to someone finally making a move and then it doesn't happen. Even Kristy and JL voted for each other. So frustrating.

I love that the jury...

Are now sitting there like...oh they were going to play the game, we were just left out.

That said, super strange move. Flick's only chance now is to go up against Matt, somebody who she may or may not beat. The alternative of going up against Brooke or Matt was a much better option.

So now? Lee is looking pretty darn good. As I mentioned before all he had to do was win one immunity at the right time and he did it. He now can use his vote stopper to push out somebody (if needed) and then win one more to make it to the end.
