Don't name a human being after a video game character...
One of my former employee's name is Horizon. He always tells people when introduced for the first time "Horizon, like the milk." But most people don't remember and call him Verizon instead.
There is worse out there.

Sorry matePlease don't be real.
Agreed, I'm naming my child MSI Afterburner, to hell with this child's development I've got to show my prideDon't listen to these people who are ashamed of their hobby.

Name him CD Projekt Red before they get bought out. It's the only way to save them.
And that's why he shouldn't lol
And also, there's nothing wrong with naming your kid after a video game character(who's actually a book character). Video games aren't lesser than any other form of media, and children are named after characters all the time. Don't listen to these people who are ashamed of their hobby.

XD I fixed that typo!
Anyway, I have an unusual name too, I used to hate it as a kid, but I've learnt to love it and keep getting compliments on it now. The kid won't be alienated unless the name is really stupid.
Does anyone actually believe the OP is for real?
Kviiilyn! Awesome! That will never traumatize her!
Do the right thing, name him FaintColt388301.
There was a girl that went to my high school named "La-a" pronounced "Ladasha". I'm pretty sure your son will be fine with the name Geralt. I'm fond of the name myself and would have loved to name my son Geralt, but I fall in with the crowd against naming kids after video game characters. Garrus and Tali were names my wife liked for kids (she doesn't game but she watched me play all of Mass Effect). Didn't do that for the same reason. Either way Geralt is a good name and I'm sure you two will figure it out

It has nothing to do with being ashamed of a hobby and all to do with you projecting something ridiculous onto your child who may or may not give a shit about it.
If you want to hanger your name to Geralt thn g for it. Don't. Be dragging other people into it.
It's GAF aka. the blurred lines of humor and reality.Does anyone actually believe the OP is for real?

The cool thing is that trying to pronounce it without taking the capitalization mumbo jumbo into account results in something around the lines of "whimpering" in Polish.

That's Tommy. He tells people he was named after a gun, but I know he was really named after a famous 19th century ballet dancer.

Yeah, let's to the hyperbole thing, cos Geralt is totally comparable to that.
How will you ever know if the kid will like the reason?
And why is it ridiculous exactly?
Wow, you guys are making me rethink the name Joel.
If I ever have kids in like ten years I was going to name my boy Joel. And then I played the last of us and definitely went with the name Joel, as it's not an extremely common name.
Is there anything wrong with that?
edit: btw, rare and odd names are cool. My first name is Jonas.
Not an common name (go ahead, make a Jonas brother's joke or weezer reference).
