Aww, nostalgia trip. Makes me want to start a new game of BG right now - so saith the wise Alaundooooo.
(Awesome screens.)
Use the Tutu or Trilogy "mods" (BG in BGII's engine with the new rules, GUI, 3D accelerated fog, in sequence with the sequel, etc) alongside the widescreen patch (it's for any high res, not widescreen specifically, I personally only use it for PST) and whatever neat mods you fancy (if any) and you'll probably end up with something about as good as what they may be cooking up here.Aww, nostalgia trip. Still looks the same as the original (if they're real screens).
They're old dusty and nobody cared? I doubt Square or Capcom keep the original content of their PS1 games that used pre-rendered backgrounds either...
I wonder what kind of "filters" they have in mind, I can't think of anything that would look good... Just leave everything at its native resolution, use the extra screen resolution of the given device to render more of the playing area and only increase the resolution/size of the fonts/GUI where necessary. Zooming etc are pointless to have too.

Edit: wait, it's as if those screens are taken with one of those mods too, since the GUI is from BGII but the areas are from BG (although with mods you can actually restore the look of the original BG GUI even when running it with the BGII improvements).

^Unmodified BG GUI.
But I guess someone will have mentioned this already, I was just tweaking my installations earlier so I noticed.

Does something stop Tutu and/or the other IE games from working in multiplayer? I'm just curious, I never tried that, it's not the type of game I'd enjoy co-op. I seem to recall some IE game (probably BGII) functioning some several years ago when trying it with friends but I don't remember details, if there were any hacks and workarounds involved (hamachi comes to mind for some reason, but we might have used it for other games) or whatever, since we didn't stick with it beyond the opening sections.
I still don't get playing BG and BG2 multiplayer. You don't get the NPCs, so you don't get the quests, and the whole hero thing gets muddied (who is the MC? The host?)
Now IWD and IWD2, those are games that should be played multiplayer.
@TrentOster: The zoom is controllable in game. On PC we use the mousewheel. #iPad is pinch. Works very well. #bgee #baldursgate
We're trying to embrace the Weidu methods for mods. As we have the source code, we can make the management a little easier
Our plans are to enable mods on all platforms. The tools, we're trying to stay compatible with what is out there
http://www.shacknews.com/article/73344/baldurs-gate-enhanced-to-get-higher-level-cap-no-wii■The level cap for BGEE will be increased.
■A bad experience with Nintendo leaves no hope of a Wii U version.
■After fan feedback, a boxed edition of the game is being explored, beyond just digital distribution.
■The game will be localized in German, French and Spanish, with more languages in the works.
■There is no plan for more than six characters in a player's party.
■The enemy AI will continue to be a pain in the butt, even with the new content.
■Emphasis is being placed on great voice talent for the new content. Several actors have been auditioned. If new voice-over work is done for Minsc, Jim Cummings will reprise the role.
■Mod support will be improved.
■Updates for BGEE will be slower going than planned.
■No plans for Xbox version because of controller issues.
■Beamdog will not be doing an enhanced Ultima.
■A Baldur's Gate 3 would take some heavy reworking.
■Icewind Dale is a candidate for enhancement if BGEE is a success. The game would use the BGEE code base.
Not enough buttons? Too many buttons? Lost the office play 'n' charge kit?More Tweeter info:

"My problems with Nintendo are: requiring 6000 unit sales before payment, a certification process that took us 9 months and a 40mb limit,"

That 6000 sales prior to payment requirement is flat-out stupid. Goes a long way to explaining why Nintendo are dead last in the downloads area.

That was on Wii though. I seriously doubt it's the same on Wii U. At least the 40mb limit will be lifted.
I'd wager he doesn't know better because he never looked into the current terms. Even if he tweeted that stuff mere hours ago, it still doesn't apply anymore. They talk about Nintendo in general, and the 40mb, 9 months, etc crap is from a tweet a few hours ago.
The thing is... both of those restrictions were removed quite a while ago (at least on the eShop).
Then, if I were Nintendo, I'd correct him quickly and in a very public manner.I'd wager he doesn't know better because he never looked into the current terms. Even if he tweeted that stuff mere hours ago, it still doesn't apply anymore.

There must be something up with their requirements though, the disparity in support between PSN, XBLA, iOS & WiiWare / Eshop is plain as day.

That 40mb limit is/was shockingly bad, even for Nintendo online standards. No wonder why everyone hates working with them.
You got me wrong: It still applies to WiiWare (at least the size limit), but not to Nintendos more recent digital distribution platforms. And yes, I agree. Considering how many developers have already given up (tweets like this one don't help), putting the current terms out in the open might be the best way to get their attention. Though articles like this one should help as well. On the other hand, their ignorance leaves a window of opportunity for other devs. Then, if I were Nintendo, I'd correct him quickly and in a very public manner.

eShop has been pretty jumping lately, actually.
WiiWare its understandable.
There's no way they'll roll with a 40MB cap for the Wii-U. A cap, sure, it makes sense. A quick glance at Wiki tells me there are less than 20 3DS games on the European e-shop, about 5 of which look any good. Do you use PSN / XBLA / iOS?
Yet the few developers actually supporting the platform seem happy with it and continue to support it. Nintendo just had their fourth(!) indie dev conference in Madrid a few days ago, with speakers from several large and small studios (like Renegade Kid, Nicalis, Two Tribes, Akaoni, Zen or Mercury Steam - and Nintendo of course). Several new announcements came out of that. It's not like they're not doing anything. But many still think Nintendo hates indies and doesn't support them or something...A quick glance at Wiki tells me there are less than 20 3DS games on the European e-shop, about 5 of which look any good. i bet the new NPCs are going to have romances.
Official DLC version of Saerileth, the heavily underage asian paladin waifu NPC romance companion who speaks in thou's and shalt's.

Yes. Although i would agree if you had said BG2 portraits. Is it bad that I think that's infinitely more appealing than any of the character art that's actually in the game (the original game, that is)?
