they don't even look like the pc version. if anyone has noticed no one has reported these pictures except for kotaku because they are FAKE!

If those are fake, RockSteady seriosuly need to hire the dude/dudes who made 'em.

But no ... no way these are fake.

Look how angry he is!

I can't wait for this. I just adore Arkham Asylum so much. I Platinum'd the PS3 version and S-ranked the PC and I need moar Batman. I still want Harley to be wearing some more clothes but this new outfit is leagues better than her AA one. GOTY 2011.

Not a fan of the Harley Quinn character in general, annoyed the shit out of me. But her model has been improved from the first game.

Still would prefer her to be a mute-minor character in this game though. Screens look so good, I'm thinking I'll pick up the PC version this time if the PS3 doesn't have any of that 'exclusive' DLC that every damn game is coming out with these days.

An Arkham City fansite (arkhamcity.co.uk) has posted a bunch of new (and old) details from the latest OXM (UK):
- Arkham City is four or five times larger than Arkham Asylum.
- The game starts by being briefed by Alfred, he explains the Two-Face vs Catwoman situation and you start heading to the area the two are located.
- Batman is now much more agile, he is now able to plunge into a dive mid glide to accelerate flight.
- Two-Face has a gang roaming Arkham City, you will find them wearing face masks replicating their boss'.
- Criminals who aren't connected with any super villains roam the street.
- Story suggests that Professor Strange has been kidnapping Gotham citizens who are opposed to Arkham City.
- One and half years after the original game.
- Use new detective mode to discover a thugs super villain boss. This will be used to find The Riddlers men.
- The Riddler is in Arkham City, they hint you are almost certain to come face to face with him.
- Jack Ryder has been put into Arkham City due to him becoming to close to the truth on the city while working on an expose. Rocksteady where hesitant to reveal what Ryder had uncovered.
- Your first meeting with Two-Face is early on in the game. You are greeted with him displaying Catwoman tied up side down to a baying crowd of criminals. His two conflicting personalities being voiced out loud.
- Two-Face decides Catwoman's fate with the iconic coin toss. She gets lucky this time.
- The first confrontation with Two-Face results in Batman getting shot in the chest only for Catwoman to slip out of her chains and hit Two-Face into the acid she was about to be chucked into. A flirtatious conversation is then held between Catwoman and Batman only to be interrupted by a smiley face sniper dot rolling up Catwoman's suit. The shot is fired and misses her by a whisker.
- Your first detective mode experience is finding the bullet hole on the floor and figuring out its trajectory.
- Trajectory reveals the location of the shot. A bell tower housed by the Joker.
- Joker has a potentially fatal desease.
- Calendar Man is confirmed.
- The date and time effect your interaction with Calendar Man, set your console of PC's time a month ahead from last and you will receive a completely different conversation.
- Batman's launcher has received an upgrade, you can now stop at anytime instead of being forced to the end every time.
- You are pitted against a lot more thugs at once compared to the original game.
- Increased amount of combat animations.
- Phone booths ring only for thugs to stand by it, afraid to answer. Rumours going round suggest anyone that answers these calls end up dead.
- The mysterious caller ends up being Victor Zsasz, this starts one of many side quests in the game.
- To start the side quest you must follow a number of ringing phone boxes only to greeted with him at the final one.
- Co-Op seems to be hinted. Catwoman has very similar combat techniques to Batman when in game.
- Rocksteady suggest Crime Alley will make an appearance.
- Rocksteady insist that the only confirmed villains so far are the ones you have seen.

I need to quit looking for this thread in gaming.
It's going to spoil everything.

They basically showed 1/2 the game off before the first one came out as well.

Shaping up to be one of the best games of 2011. Another nice touch would be some music inspired by the movies, Molysis as battle music would be epic.

I'd preferred if they had used the classic Catwoman outfit.

The violet outfit on the right, or the one on the left:

Good that he's back, bad that he's trying to say this is the last time. Why, Mr. Hamill? You're finally being acknowledged and praised for something else besides being a certain guy from a series of movies, and you would want to put an END to that?! :lol

Yeah finally...

...for 20 years or so now.

It's looking like there will be no re-design for Batman and no Nightwing/Robin, this saddens me.

I hope there's someone @ RS listening to this man.

To fix Detective Mode just make it so you don't have infinite range wall hack and maybe give some gnarly staticy feedback if you get hit while using it.

They just should make it time limited and add a short recharge time, just like they did with the special batarangs in the first game. That would make the stealth sections more challenging.

And yeah, Harley's design is pretty awful but the everything else is just plain awesome.

I really hope it's not, because if I'm sitting there trying to solve a puzzle and have to keep "refreshing" detective mode, that sucks.

Mm you have a point. Maybe make it time limited only when there are thugs in the room/area where you are? So that you don't have to worry when you're exploring/looking for secrets.

still the best catwoman
Fucking no no NO. A sickly-looking crazy blonde cat lady is the worst interpretation of that character ever.

After reading this, I feel as though Rocksteady is spoiling their own game. I think I'm going to stop reading about this. Not sure if I want multiplayer in this game...but hopefully it's either really good or it doesn't affect singleplayer quality if it's bad. I do trust that Rocksteady will integrate it better with the game though since they did a fantastic job last time integrating all the sidequests with the main quest.

Or, they could just not turn it blue. The important stuff is highlighted in orange until you deactivate the mode.

What were the complaints about detective mode in the first game? I must've missed that discussion.
It was so useful that people would leave it on all the time. So they would end up seeing most of the game's graphics through a blue filter.

That's also what he said last time, though...

Any clue on what comic stories this is drawing from? Knowing the references to Arkham Asylum: Living Hell in the first game made it that much more enjoyable.

You're mad, one of the best things the first game had going for it was its Metroid-like progression. If anything I want to see it used more; making a mental note of something you couldn't access then going back when you got the right item, only for it to contain something as humdrum as a single Riddler solution, was not enough payoff.

It had Living Hell references? It seems to take mostly from a dumbed down version of Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth.

Looks like Two-Face has a similar outfit like the one he had in the animated series. Awesome.

Not really. The black side was just black, not ridiculously burned with the suit melted into his skin.

I turned off detective mode all the time unless I felt I really needed it. I guess I'm one of the few.

So about Harley... over all I like the design. She's got the diamond patterns, the two tone color scheme, the hair that loosely resembles her jester cap, and instead of bells on the ends, her hair is dyed red and black respectively. Cool, I like it. I would give her an actual black mask though instead of the makeup. I think that would slightly bring out more of the Harley that everyone is looking for. Like in the first game. Just use the same face. It was great!

As for the tattoo on her hip, it doesn't really bother me. If you look close, it appears to be dedicated to Joker who she is enamored with. (key word "appears". I may be completely wrong) So if that's the case, I think it fits in this universe.

Didn't have a single problem with detective mode, only used it if I really needed to. Kinda hope it has more CSI stuff this time.

Anyway, screenshots look really good. Liking Two Face alot.

Aaron Cash, his history with Croc, and a lot of Riddler clues (Doodlebug, Warren White, Humpty Dumpty, etc.). Not the main inspiration but it had some neat references.

Sounds fantastic, but I'm surprised how many story details Rocksteady spoiled already. The game doesn't come out for another YEAR! I'd rather see a teaser trailer.

But everything I'm hearing is great. Seriously, it's a great time to be a Batman fan. Great live action movies, animated movies (Under the Red Hood is fantastic), the comic series is fresh (I love the dynamic between Dick's Batman and Damian), and we are getting high-quality batgames!
