Batman Arkham Origins: "Cold, Cold Heart" DLC Announced

Took me about 4 hours and that included all collectibles (had to use a YouTube video for the last anarky tag).

Really enjoyed it, much better than harley's revenge anyway! I thought they handled Mr freeze's origin well (which is a great theme these guys seem to have with how they handled joker in the main game). But beyond that it's basically another good chunk of the gameplay that made AO a good game, even if you can tell they are padding it out a bit at times in some instances with the plot progression.

edit: also I played it on PC and had no issues except for a weird sound bug where the noise from the map would carry over to the playable game and wouldn't go away until I opened a door =/

So did Bruce get some botched plastic surgery done after the main story?

Yes! I got this too. Except mine was during the first non pre-rendered custcene, and Bruce was TALKING like this! I think it's the weird animation they've got going on with the lips. I'd make a GIF of it, but unfortunately it only happened once and I can't reproduce it.

Here's what I did manage to capture, though:

I swear I got only 1 bug during my PC playthrough of 30 hours. A building somewhere could clipped right through. No biggie.

And I swear I fell through a building about 10 hours in, the game auto saved, and I was unable to progress without playing all 10 hours over again. Big biggie.

I also lost about 10 hours of progress due to the save bug on 360. Not fixing serious issues like this is shameful.

I am shocked, nay, FLABBERGASTED that they would ever even consider releasing anything other than a perfect product for the PC!

I wonder if their "we aren't going to fix any more bugs" policy of the main game applies to this DLC as well? :\

One of the reasons i am not touching that game because of there incompetence and stoic handling towards the community. Jezus christ still riddled with bugs not even bothered to fix it.

The lip sync during the opening part was TURRIBLE.

WTF WB ?

why butchered the PC port like this ?
are they serious ? why they released this Sh#@ ?
i am happy i didn't pay more then 10$ for the game+season pass

Should've followed Batman's example and trust your instincts

same with not killing people

Ok, I'm getting this real fucking annoying audio glitch where if I open the map, that noise that occurs when panning around on it keeps looping over and over unless I quit to the menu. Anyone else experience this?

Just finished it in about 3 hours. Great little DLC.

No bugs at all. It's kinda odd I guess, but I rarely get hit with these things.

Just ran into a bug. A thug got stuck in the wall during a predator segment. Couldn't knock him out so I had to start the section over. So annoying...

I just played it for an hour and I'm liking it. Combat is still really fun and the story is good so far. The new Freeze-ray enemies are kind of a letdown though since they can just be taken down with an instant takedown. The lighting from the neon lights in the city and the fire look pretty spectacular on PC.

Hey look, more specialized equipment that doesn't show up in the "sequels."
Especially considering you face off with Freeze in City and Batman apparently has had specific "Anti Mr. Freeze" gadgets for years.

That suit seems like a bad joke, too. It's just way too... Cyborg.

To put my "nerd" cap on for a minute, the presence of the suit in this DLC makes sense, because Bruce/Batman is fighting in harsh conditions (he has to go through cryogenics labs and what''s described as "cryogel"). Likewise, he only decides to don it when it becomes clear that he's running up against ice obstacles he can't overcome - he picks the default (and heavily-upgraded) batsuit from the main game at the beginning of the DLC.

In AC, he only comes up against Freeze directly at one point in the story, and that's a fight he not only isn't expecting, but specifically isn't prepared for, having to improvise as a result.

It seems like D3DOverrider does not work anymore after the DLC. Always I trying running the game with it I get only a black screen.

Did they ever get around to fixing the corrupt save bug on the 360? I was over halfway through and I hit that bug, haven't picked it back up since.

besides shock gloves and snow outside, there doesn't seem to be any physx in this.

weird that i've had no graphical glitches or crashes so far (win 8.1, 3570k, 780).

btw: any tips on that first outdoors objective where there are like a dozen guards around the frozen dude? Can't find a good angle to approach :X

Use the remote claw to pull barrels towards them. Freeze groups of them like this, and you can just jump down and do ice takedowns on them all.

wut, didn't know there was that shit, cool!

btw: whats a good way to dodge the freeze gun thugs? Rolling doesn't seem to do shit.

You can evade them pretty well by jumping repeatedly across the beams, just don't go straight at them. It's best to target guys with the ice guns first or Keep other enemies between them and you (their beams freeze friendlies as well). They'll dodge thrown Concussion Detonators even when they don't know you're there, and the Disrupter doesn't work on them.

Should I buy this for $10 or get the Season Pass for $18?

The other season pass content is just skins for Batman and the Initiation challenge maps (3 combat, 3 predator). If you really like doing combat challenges it might be worth getting the season pass, since you get Bruce Wayne as a new challenge mode character.

soemthing is really off with how bruce wayne moves though. its what happens when they don't have a template rocksteady made to built on lol.

he moves and feels like... mr incredibles lol

woo got the new suit... its kinda underwhelming though. bs excuse to not have new combat animations and still move around like other suit, and many of his animations clip into his suit because of the bulkyness without changing the animation rigs.

also thermal has no badass physx effect like shock gloves :(

Argh... how do I access this? I made a poor drunken decision last month and bought the season pass for this game. I downloaded the DLC today but cannot find any method of accessing it. Is it because I haven't completed the main campaign yet? That is a pretty shitty way of blocking the content if that's what it is, even though I'm well aware the DLC takes place after the events of the main game.

For the record, I have beaten the game, but it was on a different XBL account. I'm almost done with my second playthrough but I was very much looking forward to cracking some brews and playing through this new content tonight.

On the PC version, in the Main Menu after you select your save slot, it says Cold, Cold Heart right under Story.

Man, this thing is unplayable for me. I encountered two bugs in ten minutes that forced me to reload. First time was the very first sequence, where the thug attacks bruce and one has to react. Scratched my balls at that time and reacted too late. So Bruce just there while the thugs danced around him and beat him (very slowly) to death. Couldn't do more than turning the camera around him.
Then it happened again, when I came out of the cave and had to open the door to the cellar. Batman just stood there, holding the door, while the game told me to press the left mousebutton, but nothing happened, no matter what I pressed. Well, except for ESC. At least I did let me quit the game.
And then are the little things, like Batman sometimes just rolling at small obstacles instead of climping on them.
WB Montreal should really invest more in bugtesting. I'm going back to read php code, that is more fun than this buggy mess :/

Finished the DLC. Better than main story Origins, better design and more interesting characters. All the gameplay issues from the original Origins are still present though; shitty camera and poorly balanced combat. And the Freeze battle is just a poor copy of AC's far superior fight.

Didn't have any bugs personally, but judging by other posts it looks like WB Montreal are as shitty as ever.

Probably very limited resources.

Which is funny, because the credits for the DLC are over 20 fucking minutes long. I'm not actually sure how long they are, I quit after 22 minutes.

Decent chunk of DLC, but yes, like somebody else said, the issues from the main game are still present here and the final boss battle is a bit underwhelming but overall I think its worth the $10. Its not Undead Rising levels of worth $10 but its good fun.

The suit though....pretty ugly. My main gripe with it besides the bulk is those damn shoulder pads....honeycomb or not he shouldn't be able to move very fast with those damn things.

Also, WB seems to have forgotten that Batman doesn't kill. You're telling me that kicking dudes in the face with SPIKES on your boots wouldn't kill them? Or dropping icicles that must weight at least 100lbs on guys heads from 30 feet wouldn't kill them?

I'm either stuck or have encountered my first bug with this game (PC version). I'm in the Gothcorp factory and just cleared out the first big room. I keep trying to go out the side door of the room yet it keeps telling me "Maybe I should make the security guard is safe". Am I missing something?

There is a guard on a balcony in that room, you gotta talk to him first.

Look at your map. There is a another door.

Consider me happy with that. The smoke from the shock gloves cooling down always brings the framerate from 60 to 30 for me. They should've had a separate option to toggle the PhysX shit for it.

Really enjoyed it. Quite meaty as well, much better than Harleys Revenge.

The fight with Freeze wasn't as Dynamic as City's iconic duel, but it was still a lot of fun and kept me on my toes. Probably the best fight in Origins imo.
The only thing I think it could have done with was some kind of sub-boss encounter. Maybe against the Penguin? Took me about 3hours to beat, which in terms of the series is quite a long playtime for just one casefile to have just one boss encounter.
Lot's of predator rooms though, which was nice.

I didn't like the IronMan suit though. It looks too bulky, yet he can move around the same (honeycomb weave!). They should have just had him replace his Gauntlets instead of the whole damn suit.

When you re-enter Gothcorp's HQ and the big guy runs at you, my game glitched and he pushed me right out the map and I was stuck underneath in 1st person view. :/

Think I hit a gamebreaking bug. There is a section where you fight a bunch of goons before you are supposed to grapnel up to use your new security codes on a door lock to chase after Freeze. I accidentally went outside before I grappled up, and now that I came back in the game autosaved and there are no surfaces you can grapnel onto (you could do it earlier on in the mission in order to encounter the locked door to begin with).

I suspect that the room has a flag that gets set when you win the fight, but which resets when the room loads each time. Since the fight doesn't reset, you can never grapnel up. I ran out and back in a few times to check and it still won't let me up. I am going to be VERY upset if this is the case.

Yes I had the same problem, I didnt go outside but reloaded a checkpoint before opening the hatch in the next section and respawned in that room and couldnt grapple up anymore.
I had to restart the DLC..there is no way to jump on the left platform with the guard and door I tried a few dozen times. (the other side can be reached with jumping by hitting the ice crystal and it glitches Bruce upwards, too bad its on the wrong side)

I also had that map scrolling sound bug, it happens everytime you hit ESC/B when the cursor is still moving. Very annoying.

But aside from those bugs it was a nice DLC.
