Also, a great guide by AndyBNV on explaining each of the settings.
Right, my Batman: Arkham Origins graphics guide is up: http://www.geforce.com/whats-new/articles/batman-arkham-origins-graphics-and-performance-guide

Shows you what each setting does, gives you nice slidey comparisons, and if you have one of our GPUs I give you a rough idea of what settings you can use.

Will update with info as it comes.

Lock if someone beat me to this.

Mine's been unlocked for two hours. I'll post my exact setup later, but I seem to be able to hit a consistent 60 with most everything maxed except PhysX and AO. Although I do drop to the 40s when zooming in. Tessellation? Magical.

PS. Even though the Nvidia performance guide (http://www.geforce.com/whats-new/articles/batman-arkham-origins-graphics-and-performance-guide) mentions a benchmark, I can't seem to find it.

I've reached the Batcave, and in the closed first level, things were a constant 60 apart from the aforementioned drops due to the zooming. Here are my specs:

OS: Windows 7
CPU: i7-3770k
GPU: GTX 670
RAM: 16GB

Here are the settings.

Resolution: 2000 x 1125
VSync: Off
AA: TXAA High
Geometry: DX11
Dynamic Shadows: DX11
Motion Blur: On
DoF: DX11
Distortion: On
Lens Flares: On
Light Shafts: On
Reflections: On
AO: Normal
PhysX: Normal

Also, screenshots! From Steam, so forgive me.

Here's a QTE. Sorry, I don't have any adequate dynamic combat shots yet-- the ones I do have are really dark. This one's pretty, though. Look at Batman's face!

Finally reached the open world with some more dynamic shots.

Just gave it a spin on combat mode a few times to try and figure out preferable settings. 1 vs 100 throws about 20 guys at a time for context. Specs are:

Operating System: Windows Vista 8
Processor: Intel Core i5-4670
RAM: 8 Gb
Video Card: GTX 770 w/ 2GB vram
1080p

Started with everything at max outside of AA which I had on TXAA high. Got a little stutter when I had all the guys on screen. Dropped to just regular MSAAx2 and I'm getting a smooth 60fps outside of a small drop when I ge thit with a pipe and the screen kind of blurs and swings. Again, that was with about 20 guys on screen. Everything else at full settings, only the AA I've played with. This obviously also only covers combat with basic surrounding, so I'll update again after I've started the campaign and hit the open city. DX11 already seems a bit better. Game's lighting seems phenomenally better, having been playing alot of City the last week. Played some of the opening area and still no probs, but I expect I'll have to knock something down when I hit the open city and everything has to draw in.

PS. There does not seem to be a benchmark, unlike the first... two? games.

If the benchmark hasn't made it into the day-0 build it'll be added in an update in the near future.

Is there still a DX9 renderer, or is it DX11 only?

Also, is there a really noticeable difference between DX9/11? I have a lowly 7850 and I'd probably go with the DX9 renderer if the differences are minimal (which they often are, imo).

How large is the performance hit with physx on AMD? I have a 7970 - is it still playable with this card?

Yeah I'm expecting it won't work well with AMD cards. That's fine, that was a sacrifice I was willing to make by getting AMD this time.

(I'm looking at you, Mantle!)

Got Tri 580's here, would it be better dedicating one card to PhysX and Sli'ing the other two...? Just thinking out loud will mess around when I get back home.

Anyone trying this on a 680m? Wouldn't mind some Bat action on the go...

Thanks forth preferences explanation you posted on the other thread. Will you extend it to also looking at performance hits each setting does like you do with other games?

It's probably as large of a hit as it was for Batman AA..

Per-particle, there's less of a performance impact in Origins. This is helped in particular by the switch to APEX.

We might do. Will depend on the availability of other resources (I am booked up).

I have never encountered a game using Physx that didn't decimate performance on AMD cards. Pushing the load to the CPU isn't practical apparently. At this point, I just disable it out of gate without trying.

Andy my brother, I have been shooting you PMs for a while about that driver issue. Any chance I could send a direct email to those directly on the driver team? :D

AC ran pretty well on my 680 mostly maxed, though it was months after launch with some patches presumably. Hope this performs similarly.

Less of a performance impact sounds great, if true. The hit with physx on in Arkham Asylum is somewhere around an 85% loss in fps for non Nvidia systems.
By comparison, playing Origins on a system using an AMD video card, how much of a performance impact, percent-wise, can someone expect to experience with physx enabled?

I got pretty good performance out of Arkham City. Got obvious performance hits when it came to physx, but I love the papers flapping around and improved fog and particles.

Not sure if I'll get Origins day one since I've got so much to play already (and soon to buy that $15 Castlevania from Amazon!). Origins is probably one of those games that will get performance increases with Nvidia driver updates, so the longer I wait it'll probably get better.

How does it compare to Arkham City?

I'm on an entirely new computer from what I used to play City, but, and this is entirely anecdotal:

Remember when you got to the open world in City, and the framerate dropped dramatically? There is no such thing here. I was pleasantly surprised.

Can't wait to give it a try tonight. I'm not a fan of TXAA so I'm guessing I can have it running smooth with everything else maxed and a 680, considering the recommended specs, right?

Downloading this now.

Will benchmark at 3840x2160 with everything maxed out and see how it does. Expecting 60+ FPS even with AA. This game is going to look so, so good.

I have a Sapphire HD7950 3 GB, 8 GB ram and i5 4670k, and performance is a little disappointing on 1080p. Can not get a steady 60 fps framerate so far, even with MSAA and AO turned off. It is playable and looks fine with FXAA or SMAA enabled (tried both, FXAA seems to work well in this game, don't notice a lot of blurring), but I hope this will get sorted out. With v-sync off there is quite a lot of tearing, and with v-sync on it still doesn't run like butter. AMD probably has to release some new drivers for this game.
Edit: I also play with PhysX off of course.

Yea, I was holding out holding out for that horrible framerate drop when I got to the open city before I came back in and updated my thoughts annnnd....nothing. Game still liked to have little drops between in engine scenes and tiny spikes when a door opens to a new area, but honestly, it runs great. The worst I've had was the first boss fight (I'll emit what that is right now to keep from spoiling) but I did have some consistent hold around the 50fps mark. I'm guess that's because there was a lot of smoke and I have physx up max. So rocking everything max bar AA, which is at MSAA x 2, and I've had great performance indoors, open doors, in fights with alot of guys, and my only major drop area was a boss fight featuring quite heavy physx.

I will say this game runs great though. Comparably on my specs, DX11 on Arkham City runs fine enough, but the little choppyness that peeks through is enough for me to drop to DX9 because I can't stand the drops during big fights. No such prob here. The engine may have not changed much in terms of new animations etc., but the lighting and shadows are fantastic, and make it look a really big step up from City imo. Steam and smoke parting around you and swirling up if you run around it in is awesome, the cape looks so much better, and I even really liked the frost breath in the batcave. Really pleased.

really hope AMD cards fair as well as this. From what I'm reading, seems like they aren't.

I hope so too man, or at least AMD can catch up with drivers nice and quick. People with high high end AMD's might be able to brute force through if this is what I'm getting with a 770, but yea, fuck all these exclusive optimisations etc

I'm very happy with Origins's open-world performance. I've not tried Arkham City on this computer, but I have remember that game on another machine. I don't know how WB Montreal mitigated UE3's streaming issues, but they did.

I've stopped playing because it's 0200h here and my combat performance is shameful as a result, but I included some preliminary open-world screenshots to my post. A bit more action!

Ok, at 3840x2160 with 8x MSAA, everything maxed etc, I get about 40 FPS avg.

GTX 780's in SLI @ 1.2 Ghz OC's, 4.5 Ghz 3570k, 8 GB of RAM, SSD etc

Hmm I expected better. Can someone else with similar specs chime in with their performance?

This is basically my setup: I've got Windows 7/4570/760 SC but I'm running at 1680x1050, which gives it a little more breathing room. Good to hear that it does so well.

8x is overkill at 4K, in my opinion. If you drop down to 4x I would be amazed if you saw a difference, and you'd get a ton more performance.
