Battlefield 1 Beta Impressions

I just had the best game of Rush in my life.

Got the Tank Hunter Landshark, and me and my friend drove up the rock bridge and just sat up there launching cannons at anyone who went near A. Got like 30 kills before the game ended
Lol. This is why I don't play Rush. Completely broken balance with the tanks at the moment.

It felt really broken. Then again almost no one was shooting us with the anti tank rifle. People just got into Light tanks and tried to challenge us but since they were shooting upwards and we were shooting down we just destroyed them

Battlefield One |OT| Nerf Tanks! Nerf Snipers! Nerf it alllllllll!
Battlefield One |OT| Nerf isn't just a child's toy

Reached level 34. I think I'm going to put it down now.

After getting acclimated to the core gameplay, I've reached the conclusion this is miles more fun then 4 and noticeably more immersive.

I don't really get the complaints about the map design, at least in terms of Conquest. Unless you're trying to cross the dune sea on foot, in my experience there's always some sort of rocky outcropping or cover of some sort you can use to break line of sight with enemies. Fights seem clustered around the village and canyons, and I think it flows pretty well. I noticed on Rush though that on the third stage the opposing team can easily climb the rock arch to fire down on A and B from both sides, and there's no real effective way of clearing them out besides trying to go up there yourself.

I mean this doesn't match the beauty of Arica Harbor, but it kinda reminds me of Oasis (half the map being flat desert with village on one side). Rolling Thunder in BC2 was waaay bigger (a bit too big for 24 player conquest, honestly).

I dunno what they should do about tanks frankly. I like how powerful the tanks are and don't wanna lose that, but there should be more AT options for the other classes, maybe a more effective Light AT Grenade? (the current one is a complete joke) Also allowing Support to call in artillery would be good as well, and giving support Mines. I don't know what specific AT capability they could give Medics though.

I dunno if I have much of an opinion about the tick rate, but the medic stuff does seem problematic. Has there been any indication that DICE is taking feedback into consideration? I'm having a blast with the Beta (It's giving me strong Bad Company vibes, minus the Helos obviously), but there are definitely things that could be improved.

That's why rush is stupid atm
Is rush meant to be fair?
Defence always has the advantage. It's just a matter of finding strategies to overcome the opposition.

This sounds familiar to the battlefront complaints at the start when the empire was always winning supremacy, and then people learnt the systems and maps and you slowly got rebels winning and winning.

Also keep in mind the beta has a shit tonne of locked items, something which would probably assist the attackers.

LevelCap did a vid on how overpowered the tanks are, specifically the light tank. Sums up my thoughts on it pretty well.

Jackfrags has a video where he goes 61-0 in a light tank and he wasn't even really trying that hard as the tanker. The AT options are just not good. The rocket gun is not usable in a lot of places, and if you are playing against a smart tank or a tank with support, you'll be lucky to get off more than one shot.

2 big AT nades don't even disable the artillery truck from behind. That's crazy. They've made it so that, unless you're an idiot and drive the tank into a crowd, it's pretty hard to die.

Funny enough most of my wins in Rush in the beta come from attacking. I find it much easier to overcome a portion of my team being incompetent on attack than on defense. Then again perhaps that's because of the reduced player count as most of my recent experience with Rush is BF4 with 48/64 players.

I know I'm beating a dead horse here, but the lack of teamwork in this game is downright infuriating. I've never seen it this bad in a Battlefield game, even going back to the betas of BC2, 3, and 4.

Had a good winning round and ended up being the top scorer. Felt great.

They improved sniping and made open ground a death sentence. Plus the game is probably attracting a lot of people new to the series that don't understand the basic roles. Add in some really unnecessary changes like the revive system, a questionable map, and gun balance that needs work... I can see why it's not really a good reflection of the BF franchise.

Yeah, first time I've seen that happen was today as well. Our team met the win ticket (er-"capture" limit) conditions. Blew my mind that a round end could happen that way.

We getting the band back together Seks? Where's Faceless and Olympia?

I love defending E, so much fun.

I like the situations you find yourself in with E. Crossing the no man's land dunes and finding a lone wanderer or a random jeep full of people, having planes chase you overhead, guys on horseback charging across the desert, etc. it's a cool visual.

I found a guy on E just going around in circles on a horse for no reason

Capping while being a moving target so a sniper can't get him easy.

Has Sony dropped the rental service requirement to play online? No? Then I'm still on PC.
Bought a new GPU and need to get some RAM in fact

Lets be real, Cavalry is the best soldier in the game.

With the glitch right now? Absolutely. With that glitch removed? Eh... I mean the melee is an instant kill and you can resupply your (or someone elses) ammo and health with the sticky ammo/medic kits, but once people are able to kill you easy (due to the bug/glitch right now you have wayyy more health than even the Elite soliders), you'll be VERY squishy.

Weird balancing, some historians have pointed out that by the armistice tanks were being knocked out/lost faster than they could build them.
Aa guns like the 77mm. tank vurse howitzer duels that ended badly for the former. 7,92mm smk armour piercing cartridges fired from machine guns and rifles that could punch through even "heavy tank" armour (12mm) up to 100 metres. All these plus break downs should result in game balancing not pumping up the tank as impervious to even foot soldiers.

I was melting tanks last night when I played. Spam the two big AT nades, the small light anti-tank nade and quickly drop to the ground and get an AT gun round off. I pretty much cleared tanks out in 10 seconds if I was fully supplied.

On foot, you can use the 1911 as a primary and do well thanks to the armor + self heals. Pretty funny to embarrass people 1v1.

If a tank lets you get in grenade range they're not really paying attention. Shitty tanks aren't the problem. See LevelCaps video.

Having the full game may change things. But, since people are so familiar now, with this one map, I think they are too comfortable, to bother with medics. The respawns are so quick. With large squad spawning and spawning into vehicles (even ones not controlled by your squad), there is a lot less need to revive.

If they simply doubled the respawn time, that would probably force more revives. And that would still feel fast, for respawn time.

the problem right now is that the medic notification is bugged, but it still needs tweaking nonetheless.

They need to remove the ability to quick forward the down state.

People are impatiently trying to spawn, and that screws with the medic's job.

I know some people want to change their loadout, but that brings me to another thing: why dont we have custom class loadouts to pre select from?

Every game with a loadout system has it, yet in BF, I have to create a loadout every time

You have to be a really bad tanker to allow an assault trooper to sit around for that long. Two AT nades and a light one AND a rocket is just silly. Plus, it probably will disable but not kill a tank from full HP.
